Texas A&M at Qatar hosts Fulbright scholar
«تكساس» تستضيف باحث «فولبرايت» لتعزيز الابتكار في التعليم
Doha: The Center for Teaching and Learning at Texas A&M University at Qatar recently hosted expert Dr Mary Deane Sorcinelli as part of a prestigious Fulbright Specialist Program award to enhance student learning and teaching innovation.
This is believed to be the first such grant for an educational institution in Qatar and believed to be the first of its kind in the entire MENA region. Sorcinelli is a senior fellow at the University of Massachusetts Amherst’s Institute for Teaching Excellence and Faculty Development, and a renowned expert in teaching and learning.
As part of her visit, Sorcinelli met with Texas A&M at Qatar faculty and CTL staff, as well as some faculty from other Education City partner universities. The focus is to develop high-impact initiatives and programs that will resonate with faculty and teaching staff, which in turn will enhance student learning.
Of particular interest are collaborations with other partner universities in Education City to provide cross-training and other educational opportunities that can collectively enhance the value of students’ degrees.
استضاف مركز التعليم والتعلم في جامعة تكساس إي أند أم في قطر، مؤخراً، الخبيرة الدكتورة ماري دين سورسينيلي، كجزء من منحة برنامج فولبرايت التخصصي المرموق، لتعزيز الابتكار في التعليم والتعلم لدى الطلاب. وتعتبر هذه المنحة الأولى من نوعها لمؤسسة تعليمية في دولة قطر والأولى من نوعها أيضاً على مستوى منطقة الشرق الأوسط وشمال إفريقيا.
كما قامت الدكتورة سورسينيلي بلقاء الهيئة التدريسية والموظفين في جامعة تكساس إي أند أم في قطر ومركز التعليم والتعلم، إضافة إلى بعض الأساتذة العاملين في جامعات أخرى شريكة في المدينة التعليمية. وركزت النقاشات خلال اللقاء على تطوير مبادرات وبرامج ذات أثر عالٍ على هيئة التدريس في الجامعة، والتي من شأنها أن تعزز التعلم لدى الطلاب.
