Mandarin Oriental, Doha opens with unveiling of signature fan
«ماندارين أورينتال» يفتح أبوابه أمام الجمهور
Doha: To celebrate the official opening of Mandarin Oriental, Doha, centrally located in Msheireb Downtown Doha, the hotel’s personalised signature fan was unveiled yesterday by Ali Al Kuwari, Acting Chief Executive Officer of Msheireb Properties; Jill Kluge, Chief Marketing Officer of Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group, and Martin Schnider, General Manager of Mandarin Oriental, Doha.
Every Mandarin Oriental hotel around the world has its own signature fan which is designed to reflect the local culture of each property. Mandarin Oriental, Doha’s fan design is a celebration of Qatari identity, with a mix of Middle Eastern inspired design elements.
Created in Qatar and handcrafted in France by Maison Duvelleroy, artisanal fan maker since 1827, the burgundy tone and patterns on each of the nine fan blades depict a series of connected symbols that are intrinsic to Doha, while the tassel is a beautiful reminder of the significance of pearling to the heritage of the city.
“This fan is a beautiful representation of our newest property in Doha, where Middle Eastern charm meets Mandarin Oriental’s legendary oriental hospitality,” said Jill Kluge, Chief Marketing Officer for Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group. “We are delighted to celebrate the opening of this stylish property in this landmark destination,” she added. “The launch of Mandarin Oriental, Doha represents a significant milestone for Msheireb Properties.
It is the first Mandarin Oriental hotel to be launched in the region and to open in Msheireb Downtown Doha, our key development project that has been designed as the world’s first sustainable regeneration project. We are delighted that guests can now enjoy the hotel’s five-star hospitality and also experience the beautiful architecture of the overall project,” said Ali Al Kuwari, Acting Chief Executive Officer of Msheireb Properties, developer and owner of the project. The hotel has created two fans, one to be prominently displayed in the hotel and the second to be presented to Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser whose vision is the driving force in building the future of Qatar.
To celebrate the opening, the hotel has launched an enticing Blossoming in Doha opening package, which includes a Mandarin Oriental Gift Card to the value of USD100 per night, and a Mandarin Oriental, Doha limited edition replica bespoke fan with an authentic pearl tassel.
Featured on the fan blades are iconic elements which showcase this great city – paying homage to its distinctive architecture, tradition, hospitality and heritage. The dhow boat on the fan blade symbolises pearl trading in the region with designs inspired by beautiful calligraphy and charming hospitality.
احتفالاً بافتتاح «ماندارين أورينتال الدوحة»، تم الكشف أمس، عن المروحة المميّزة للفندق في حفل ترأّسه السيد علي الكواري الرئيس التنفيذي بالإنابة لـ «مشيرب العقارية» (المالك والمطور للفندق في قطر)، وبحضور كل من السيدة جيل كلوج رئيسة قسم التسويق في مجموعة فنادق «ماندارين أورينتال»، والسيد مارتن شنيدير المدير العام لفندق «ماندارين أورينتال الدوحة».
يتميّز «ماندارين أورينتال» بمفهوم رائع، وهو ابتكار أو اختيار مروحة خاصة لكل واحد من فنادقه حول العالم؛ لكي تكون مرآة تعكس تراث الموقع والإحساس الفريد الذي يولّده المكان. تم تصميم مروحتَي «ماندارين أورينتال الدوحة» محلياً في قطر، وتنفيذهما يدوياً وبإتقان عالٍ في فرنسا من قبل «دار دوفيلوروا» (Maison Duvelleroy) الصانع الحرفي للمراوح منذ عام 1828. وبهذه المناسبة، تقول جيل كلوغ: «يمثّل تصميم مروحة (ماندارين أورينتال الدوحة) احتفالاً بالهوية القطرية، مع مزيج من عناصر التصميم المستوحاة من منطقة الشرق الأوسط. يُبرز اللون العنابي والأنماط في كل واحدة من شفرات المروحة التسع سلسلة من الرموز التي تعبّر في جوهرها عن الدوحة، في حين تمثّل الشرّابة تذكيراً رائعاً بأهمية صيد اللؤلؤ في تراث المدينة».
تصميم قطري
يُعرض توأم المراوح المميّز لـ «ماندارين أورينتال الدوحة» في واجهتين زجاجيتين خلابتين ومزخرفتين. تتميّز واحدة من الواجهتين بعناصر تقليدية مذهلة ولافتة للنظر من التصميم القطري، في حين تتمتع الثانية بتصميم عصري ومستقبلي. ستُعرض المروحة التقليدية بشكل بارز في الفندق لتكون رمزاً إلى جذور وتراث قطر. أما المروحة ذات التوجه العصري التي ترمز إلى المستقبل، فستقدّمها شخصياً وفي لقاء خاص صاحبة السمو الشيخة موزا بنت ناصر، التي تشكّل رؤيتها الرافعة والقوة الدافعة لبناء مستقبل قطر.
مركز المدينة
من جهته، يقول السيد علي الكواري: «يسعدنا اليوم أن نرى فندق (ماندارين أورينتال الدوحة) يفتح أبوابه للجمهور. فهو أول فندق لمجموعة (ماندارين أورينتال) العالمية في الشرق الأوسط، وكذلك أول فندق يبدأ أعماله فعلياً في (مشيرب قلب الدوحة)، التي تُعدّ أيضاً أول مركز للمدينة في العالم يُطوّر بشكل مستدام بالكامل، وهو الأمر الذي يجعل من هذا الحدث محطة بارزة في مسيرة نجاح (مشيرب العقارية)».
احتفالاً بالافتتاح ولهذه المناسبة، أطلق الفندق باقة «الازدهار في الدوحة» الرائعة، التي تشمل بطاقة هدية من «ماندارين أورينتال» بقيمة 100 دولار لليلة واحدة، ونسخة خاصة ومحدودة عن مروحة «ماندارين أورينتال الدوحة» مع شرّابة من اللؤلؤ الأصلي. تبرز على شفرات المروحة عناصر مذهلة تعمل على عرض هذه المدينة العظيمة، كما تطلق تحية تقدير إلى هندستها المعمارية وتقاليدها وكرم ضيافتها وتراثها المميّز. ويرمز القارب الشراعي التقليدي على شفرة المروحة إلى تجارة اللؤلؤ في المنطقة، مع تصاميم مستوحاة من فنون الخط الجميل وكرم الضيافة الساحرة.
