Katara gears up to host 7th Oscar Della Lirica awards

The Cultural Village Foundation —Katara will once again host the seventh edition of renowned International Opera and Classical Music awards ceremony the “Oscar Della Lirica” on March 31 at the Katara Amphitheatre.

Katara first hosted the awards ceremony in 2014. Nearly 20 internationally renowned artistes from all over the world will take part in the ceremony featuring several performances in addition to six of the biggest opera singers in the world. The Doha Orchestra will also be performing at the ceremony.

The International Opera Award “Opera Star”, promoted by the “Verona per l’Arena” foundation, the Italian Confederation of Associations, Opera and Symphony Foundations and many public and private institutions and designed and organized by Alfredo Troisi, has as its aim the promotion, enhancement, and revitalization of the cultural and artistic value of Opera performance.

The Awards are given to artists involved in opera performances all over the world, who have received the most approval from critics and audiences during the previous opera season. The Award does not involve age limit except for the special prize “Giovani Emergenti” (Rising Young talents) which has an age limit of 30 years old. Award categories include Soprano, Tenor, Baritone, Mezzo-Soprano, Bass, Contralto, Conductor, Orchestra, Choir, Costume Designer, Corps de ballet, Director and Set Designer.

The Oscar Della Lyrica will host several international presenters who will announce the nominated artists as well as the winners, in three languages: Arabic, English and Italian. There will also be several songs performed live by Opera stars during the event, with music played by the by Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra.

An international jury made up of three international experts will announce the award winners. Several spectacular items will be presented during the event on the history and career achievements of the awarded artists.

Special awards will be given to the Best Youth Male and Female Opera Singers during the event as well as a special award for one of the Qatari artists whose career highlights will be screened during the event. A special finale will be performed by all the award winners. Katara General Manager Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti will speak during the event, highlighting Katara’s vision and objectives in hosting the International Opera Awards in Qatar.

يحتضن المسرح المكشوف في المؤسسة العامة للحي الثقافي «كتارا» النسخة السابعة من جائزة الأوسكار العالمية للأوبرا والغناء الكلاسيكي في الواحد والثلاثين من الشهر الحالي. وتشارك في الحفل 20 شخصية عالمية مرموقة من فنانين وفنيين من مختلف دول العالم، بالإضافة إلى 6 من عمالقة الأوبرا من مختلف أنحاء العالم، كما ستعزف جوقة أوركسترا الدوحة في الحفل، حيث ستكون الفرقة المعتمدة طوال مدة الحفل التي تقارب الساعة.

وسيشمل الحفل عروضاً غنائية لأشهر مغني الأوبرا العالمية من جميع أنحاء العالم والذين تم اختيارهم من قبل لجنة حكام دولية للحضور والمشاركة والتكريم ضمن الحفل الرسمي لجائزة الأوسكار.

وسيقدم الحفل بثلاث لغات هي الإيطالية والإنجليزية والعربية، كما سيقدم الفنانون المشاركون لوحات غنائية كلاسيكية مختلفة بمصاحبة فرقة أوركسترا الدوحة على المسرح.
