HBKU to host Kuwaiti students

Doha: In an effort to build on bilateral ties and showcase academic programs, Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) will host 10 prospective Kuwaiti national students.
The visitors, whose visit will extend for four days, will have the chance to learn more about the University’s programs, initiatives, and research opportunities available to international students, as well as the range of teaching facilities and other academic resources.
This HBKU-sponsored visit, in cooperation with the Embassy of Kuwait, coincides with the celebration of Kuwait National Day on February 25.
Wide-ranging events to celebrate Kuwait’s sovereignty were held in Qatar under the theme of ‘Kuwait and Qatar: One People’. The events served to underscore the strong ties binding Qatar and Kuwait, as well as the two countries’ mutual vision in the fields of Higher Education and human development.
Hafeez bin Mohammed Al Ajmi, Ambassador of Kuwait to Qatar, said, “The delegation of students who are set to visit HBKU will undoubtedly benefit from a unique cultural and academic exchange and experience. We are particularly pleased to associate with HBKU as one of our valued partners and a distinguished provider of educational services in the region.”
Maryam Al Mannai, Vice-President for Student Affairs at HBKU, said, “We value the contribution of our international students to the academic and social life on campus and all of our degree programs have significant representation from Kuwait.
Our ambition is for students to find value in HBKU’s nurturing environment where they can obtain a world-class research education not far from home.”
“On the occasion of Kuwait National Day, we are pleased to welcome these students to our community as a way to deepen the collaborative ties the two countries share. Multiculturalism and diversity are intrinsic characteristics of the HBKU community, which seeks to attract students from the region and beyond,” she added.
Building regional partnerships supports the University’s mission of being an academic hub, and strengthens its stance of being a driver of positive transformation in Qatar and the region.
In addition, HBKU will be sponsoring current Kuwaiti students to participate in a leadership program offered by HEC Paris, a Qatar Foundation partner university.
Programs such as those offered by HEC are valuable contributions to building leadership capacity for students to pursue their personal visions.
The Kuwaiti students taking part in the visit will be introduced to HBKU’s multidisciplinary specialised research and teaching capabilities based on the institution’s commitment to cultivating excellence and innovation, and the opportunities to actively contribute to solving challenges for Qatar and the world.
في إطار جهود جامعة حمد بن خليفة عضو مؤسسة قطر للتربية والعلوم وتنمية المجتمع الرامية إلى تعزيز علاقات التعاون مع المؤسسات التعليمية الكويتية، وعرض برامجها الأكاديمية المتطورة، والتي من ضمنها تعزيز الفرص الأكاديمية والبحثية المتاحة للطلاب الكويتيين، ستقدم الجامعة بالتعاون مع سفارة دولة الكويت في قطر مبادرة لـ 10 طلاب كويتيين خلال السنة الميلادية الحالية 2019 لزيارة جامعة حمد بن خليفة في قطر والمراكز البحثية التابعة لها.
وستتاح للطلاب الزائرين الذين تستمر زيارتهم لمدة أربعة أيام، فرصة التعرف عن قرب على المزيد من المعلومات عن برامج الجامعة، ومبادراتها، والفرص البحثية التي تقدمها للطلاب الدوليين، بالإضافة إلى زيارة مجموعة من المرافق التعليمية والتعرف على المصادر الأكاديمية الأخرى.
وتتزامن المبادرة، التي تجري برعاية جامعة حمد بن خليفة، وبالتعاون مع السفارة الكويتية في الدوحة، مع الاحتفال بالعيد الوطني لدولة الكويت الشقيقة، الذي يصادف يوم 25 فبراير من كل عام.
وقد أقيمت فعاليات واسعة النطاق في قطر للاحتفال بهذه المناسبة تحت شعار «الكويت وقطر – شعبٌ واحدٌ» للتأكيد على العلاقات الوطيدة التي تربط بين قطر والكويت، والرؤية المشتركة للبلدين الشقيقين في مجالات التعليم العالي والتنمية البشرية.
وصرّح سعادة السيد حفيظ بن محمد العجمي، السفير الكويتي المعتمد لدى دولة قطر، قائلاً: «لا شك في أن الوفد الطلابي، الذي سيزور جامعة حمد بن خليفة، سيستفيد من التبادل الثقافي والأكاديمي الفريد والخبرات التعليمية الواسعة التي تتمتع بها جامعة حمد بن خليفة. ونحن سعداء للغاية بشراكتنا مع الجامعة وبوصفها واحدة من أهم شركائنا ومن مقدمين للخدمات التعليمية المتميزة في المنطقة».
وقالت السيدة مريم بنت حمد المناعي نائب رئيس جامعة حمد بن خليفة لشؤون الطلاب: «نحن نُقدر مساهمات طلابنا الدوليين للحياة الأكاديمية والاجتماعية في الحرم الجامعي، وتشهد جميع برامجنا التعليمية مشاركة كبيرة من دولة الكويت الشقيقة. ويتمثل طموحنا في تعزيز التصور لدى الطلاب بأن جامعة حمد بن خليفة توفر بيئة داعمة تمكنهم من تلقي تعليم بحثي عالمي الطراز في بلد لا يبعد كثيراً عن أوطانهم».
وأضافت: «بمناسبة اليوم الوطني لدولة الكويت، يسعدنا الترحيب بطلاب الكويت في مجتمعنا في إطار جهودنا الرامية لتعميق علاقات الأخوة بين البلدين الشقيقين. ومن أهم ما يميز مجتمع جامعة حمد بن خليفة هو التعدد الثقافي والتنوع في الخصائص الذي بدورة يستقطب جميع الطلاب من داخل المنطقة وخارجها».
