Qatar urges India and Pakistan to exercise restraint

Doha: The State of Qatar has announced that it is monitoring the developments in the Republic of India and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan with great concern and called on all parties to exercise restraint and to give voice to wisdom.
In a statement yesterday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed the calls made by officials in both countries, stressing that they did not want further escalation. The statement called for an endeavour to resolve the existing dispute through diplomatic and political channels and non-escalation.
“Both countries have great weight and influence in their surroundings. Therefore, the State of Qatar wishes the governments of the two countries to shoulder their responsibility as great powers to safeguard regional and international peace and security and the interests of both peoples,” the statement added.
أعلنت دولة قطر أنها تراقب تطورات الأحداث ما بين جمهورية الهند وجمهورية باكستان الإسلامية بكثير من القلق، ودعت جميع الأطراف إلى ضبط النفس وتغليب صوت الحكمة.
ورحبت وزارة الخارجية، في بيان اليوم، بالدعوات التي أطلقها مسؤولون في كلا البلدين مؤكدين عدم رغبتهم في مزيد من التصعيد.
ودعا البيان إلى السعي لحلّ الخلاف القائم من خلال القنوات الدبلوماسية والسياسية وعدم التصعيد.
وأضاف البيان “إن لكلا البلدين وزنا وتأثيرا كبيرين في محيطيهما لذا فإن دولة قطر تتمنى على حكومتي البلدين أن تنهضا بالمسؤولية التي تقوم على عاتقهما كقوتين كبيرتين بما يحفظ الأمن والسلم الإقليمي والدولي ومصلحة الشعبين”.
