Giant lizard attacks child brutally

An 8-year-old girl was traumatized and deeply wounded in her leg after being attacked by a large lizard on South Stradbroke Island on the Australian Gold Coast on Thursday (January 24th).

The lizard caught the child’s leg, causing large foot injuries. It is believed to be a “goanna”, which can be up to 1.8 meters long.

“It was very difficult to get the baby out of the clutches of the orchid, where it was necessary to help a few people,” said Chief Operating Officer Jenny Sherman.

The girl, who suffered “depression” after the incident, suffered from a “deep tear” in her right foot, according to what Sherman described as “a very vicious and brutal attack.”

The girl was taken by boat to a nearby hospital for treatment and is now in stable condition.

The local snakeskin, Tony Harrison, was called to catch the lizard and move it away from potential victims in the future.

The bite of “goanna” can be particularly serious, because carnivores lizards usually feed on corpses, which can create an accumulation of bacteria in their mouths, thus prolonging pain, swelling and bleeding after the attack.

أصيبت فتاة تبلغ من العمر 8 سنوات بصدمة نفسية وجروح عميقة في ساقها بعد تعرضها لهجوم من قبل سحلية ضخمة، على جزيرة ساوث سترادبروك في ساحل الذهب الأسترالي، يوم الخميس 24 يناير.

وأمسكت السحلية بساق الطفلة مسببة إصابات كبيرة في قدمها. ويعتقد أنها من نوع “goanna”، التي يمكن أن يصل طولها إلى 1.8 متر.

وفي حديثه مع وسائل الإعلام المحلية، قال كبير المسؤولين عن العمليات، جايني شيرمان: “كان من الصعب جدا تخليص الطفلة من براثن السحلية، حيث تطلب الأمر تقديم المساعدة من قبل بضعة أشخاص”.

وعانت الفتاة التي أصيبت “بالاكتئاب” بعد الحادثة، من “تمزق عميق” في قدمها اليمنى، وفقا لما وصفه شيرمان بأنه “هجوم شرير ووحشي للغاية”.

ونُقلت الطفلة عبر القارب إلى مستشفى قريب للعلاج، وهي الآن في حالة مستقرة.

واستُدعي مروض الثعابين المحلي، توني هاريسون، للإمساك بالسحلية ونقلها بعيدا عن الضحايا المحتملين في المستقبل.

ويمكن أن تكون لدغة “goanna” خطيرة بشكل خاص، لأن السحالي آكلة اللحوم عادة ما تتغذى على الجثث، ما يمكن أن يخلق تراكما للبكتيريا في أفواهها، وبالتالي يطول الألم والتورم والنزيف بعد الهجوم.
