Apple Leak Accidentally Reveals Radical New iPhone

In a new report obtained by 9to5Mac, financial giant Barclays has been tipping off investors that Apple will make three important changes to the so-called iPhone XI / iPhone 11 which are worth getting excited about.
Backing up a major leak last week, Barclays states that Apple will introduce a triple camera system on the iPhone XI Max. While the advancement is welcome (especially given the anticipated 3D sensor), it would be frustrating to see Apple again limit flagship camera tech to its largest model after offering welcome camera parity for the first time last year.
More inclusively, Barclays reveals Apple will also integrate new antenna technology across all its new iPhones. The report doesn’t breakdown how this will be done, but a switch from liquid crystal polymer antennas to a modified PI approach has been discussed. The repercussions would be a more reliable signal and/or faster data, but whether it compensates for a lack of 5G (which will be supported by rivals) remains to be seen.
Building its antenna tech, Barclays understands that Apple will introduce next-generation WiFi 6 (aka 802.11ax) on the iPhone XI as well. WiFi 6 is not only faster but more efficient which aids battery life. That said, you’ll need to invest in a WiFi 6 compatible router to harness this benefit. They are currently rare but should gain momentum throughout 2019.
Lastly, Barclays says Apple will enhance Face ID on the iPhone XI by increasing the power of the flood illuminator. This Face ID component beams out infrared (IR) light to illuminate your face ahead of a dot projector firing 30,000 dots of invisible IR to map your face in three dimensions. Improve the illumination and the dot projector can be both faster and more accurate.
Needless to say, these are all solid advancements but whether they can do enough to stimulate disappointing sales remains to be seen. Apple certainly needs to see an upturn. It can’t keep slashing iPhone prices ever lower…

واي فاي 6
ونقلا عن مذكرة للباحث في شركة باركليز، بلاين كورتيس، كتب موقع “تيك رادار” السبت الماضي يقول إنه من المتوقع أن يأتي آيفون 2019 بدعم تقنية واي فاي 6، أو تقنية واي فاي 802.11ax.
وفي حين أن معظم الهواتف الذكية تدعم معيار واي فاي 5، فإن معيار واي فاي 6 يعتبر “أسرع” معيار موجود حاليا، وقد يؤدي إلى سرعات لاسلكية ربما تكون على الأرجح بضعف (على الأقل) سرعة واي فاي 5.
لكن هناك بعض المآخذ على تبني هذه التقنية -كما يشير تيك رادار- وهي أن المستخدمين يجب أن يملكوا راوتر (موجّه) يدعم واي فاي 6 وأن يكون المستخدم في موقع يملك اتصالات تدعم المعيار الجديد.
وإلى جانب معدل السرعات الأعلى فإن المعيار واي فاي 6 يجعل من الاتصالات أكثر استقرارا ويدعم أجهزة أكثر في الوقت ذاته، مما يجعله مفيدا جدا في عصر الملحقات المنزلية الذكية.

أما بالنسبة لدعم اتصالات الجيل الخامس (5جي) فيشير موقع تيك رادار إلى أن التقارير السابقة تحدثت عن أن آبل لن تدعم 5جي في هواتفها هذا العام وإنما في هواتف عام 2020، لكن تقريرا جديدا من وكالة رويترز يقول إن آبل تبحث عن مزودين لموديمات 5جي لاستخدمها في هواتف آيفون 2019.
ويقول التقرير إن الشركة الأميركية تدرس مزودين مثل “ميدياتيك” و”سامسونغ” في ظل قضية الاحتكار التي أقامتها هيئة التجارة الاتحادية ضد شركة كوالكوم، مزود الرقائق التقليدي لآبل.
وفي حين يشدد تقرير رويترز على أن آبل تَزِن هذه الخيارات على أمل تضمين دعم 5جي في آيفون 2019، فإنه من غير الواضح ما إذا كانت الشركة قد اتخذت قرارا بشأن أي مزود ستعمل معه، ولهذا يتوقع موقع تيك رادار أنه ربما سيتعين على مشتري آيفون الانتظار حتى 2020 قبل وصول تقنية 5جي إلى هواتف آيفون.
