Porsche Unveils Eighth-Generation 911 In Carrera S and 4S Trim, Available Summer 2019

Last night at its Experience Center in Los Angeles, Porsche unveiled the eighth-generation 911, a careful evolution of the outgoing Carrera, with a more potent version of the existing bi-turbo Carrera S flat-six engine, freshened bodywork and a new interior. This latest iteration of the 911 continues the Porsche engineering and marketing approach of incremental improvements in rapid generations, with layers of options that enhance power and performance.

Thanks to revised placement of the turbos and intercoolers combined with improvements to the fuel injection system, the engine produces 23 more horsepower than the outgoing Carrera S motor, up to 443 horsepower. This engine was among the first of the current generation of virtually zero-lag turbos. I’ve driven the previous car in nearly every form, from base car with manual gearbox to a full-tilt Targa 4S, and the engine is marvelous, never failing to impress for its readily available torque combined with a lively, free-revving nature.

More important than evolution of an already exceptional engine, Porsche is introducing an all-new 8-speed dual-clutch gearbox that moves Carrera S to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds. Opt for the all-wheel drive 4S drivetrain and pay the Porsche tariff for the Sport Chrono option, and that time drops to a startling 3.3 seconds, which just a few years ago was supercar territory. Starting at $120,600, Carrera 4S is within a few tenths of a Ferrari 488 GTB for far, far less than half the price. Even if one goes berserk on the depthless Porsche options that can easily add thirty to forty grand to the price, a Carrera 4S is still value for money compared to more exotic and rarer cars.

كشفت عملاق صناعة السيارات الفاخرة والمميزة “بورش” رسمياً عن أيقونتها الرياضية 911 الجديدة كلياً والذي يرمز له بـ992 بتغييرات كبيرة ميكانيكية وكذلك في التصميم.

وحصل الجيل الجديد على تغييرات كبيرة ميكانيكية وكذلك في التصميم ولكنه ما زال محافظاً جداً على الهوية المعتادة لـ 911 كما اعتادى عشاقها في جميع أجيالها، حيث تظهر التغييرات في الخارج عبر الهيكل العريض الذي ازداد في عرضه بالأمام بـ+45 ملم و+44 في الخلف لتصبح كاريرا بنفس عرض فئتي كاريرا 4 وGT3.

كذلك تم إعادة تصميم الصدام الأمامي وتوفير فتحات تهوية أكبر ومصابيح أمامية جديدة وغطاء محرك بخطوط كلاسيكية أكثر حدة، من الجانب حصلت 911 على مرايا جانبية جديدة، ومقابض أبواب كهربائية مدمجة في الباب تخرج لمسها، من الخلف تتضح التغييرات بشكل أكبر عبر المصابيح المتصلة الجديدة ومخارج العادم المدمجة في الصدام، وخطي الـLED الأفقية المستوحاة من الجيل الجديد لـ911.

التغييرات شملت أيضاً تصميم الهيكل بشكل عام، لن تبدو واضحه من النظرة الأولى ولكن عند وضعها بجانب الجيل القادم سيتضح التغيير في تحسين إنسيابية وزيادة عرض 911 الجديدة كلياً.
