Amir to patronise launch of Doha Historical Dictionary of Arabic today

His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani will patronise this morning the inauguration ceremony of the Doha Historical Dictionary of Arabic.
The ceremony will be organised by the Arab Center for Research and Policy Studies of the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies.
Work on the dictionary began in May 2013. It is the first dictionary that oversees the compilation of a historical lexicon of the Arabic language.
The project has been under the guidance and support of the Amir since he was the Heir Apparent within his vision of preserving the Arabic language and the identity of the nation.

يتفضل حضرة صاحب السمو الشيخ تميم بن حمد آل ثاني أمير البلاد المفدى، فيشمل برعايته الكريمة صباح اليوم حفل إطلاق معجم الدوحة التاريخي للغة العربية، الذي سيقيمه المركز العربي للبحوث ودراسة السياسات بمعهد الدوحة للدراسات العليا.

ويعتبر المعجم، الذي بدأ العمل فيه منذ شهر مايو 2013، أول معجم يؤرخ لألفاظ اللغة العربية ومعانيها، وقد حظي المشروع بتوجيه ودعم من حضرة صاحب السمو الشيخ تميم بن حمد آل ثاني أمير البلاد المفدى، منذ كان ولياً للعهد، ضمن رؤية سموه في المحافظة على اللغة العربية وهوية الأمة.;
