‘Wall’ art exhibition opens at Katara
افتتاح معرض جدار لحيان منور
DOHA: Palestinian artist Hayyan Monawar captures the obstacles Palestinians and everyone experience in life through powerful visual imagery replete with symbolisms in his thought-provoking solo exhibition titled “Wall” launched on Wednesday at Katara Cultural Village.
The 33 mixed media artworks on display depict sufferings human beings endure and their attempt and sometimes inability to overcome them, according to the artist.
“Each of us has a wall to overcome, and these scenes reflect man’s rebellion against the reality imposed on him, looking for a better tomorrow without barriers…No wall,” commented Monawar on his exhibition.
Born and raised in Qatar, Monawar holds a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts major in oil painting from Damascus, Syria. His passion for calligraphy and painting began at a young age as a way to express his feelings toward the world around him.
In 2006, he explored a subject which had long preoccupied his mind which was the physical, psychological and moral barriers to a person’s ambition and based it on his research on the separation wall in Palestine. He used this as a starting point to express his ideas through symbols portraying scenes and dialogues between man and the obstacles he strives to overcome.
To concretize his concept, he places the human being as the central figure in the arworks with objects surrounding him including wall, chair, crow, and dome to symbolize obstacles, migration, death and hope and in doing so he is able to effectively send his message to everyone.
The artist limits his use of colours to gold, black and variations of gray to emphasise his message. The artist conveyed his deep gratitude to Katara for hosting his exhibition and supporting him get his message through via his artworks.
The opening of the exhibition was attended by Munir Ghannam, Ambassador of Palestine to Qatar, Saif Al Dosari, Human Resources Manager at Katara, several other dignitaries, artists and art enthusiasts.
The exhibition is open to the public until November 20 at Gallery 2 of Katara Building 22.

افتتحت المؤسسة العامة للحي الثقافي كتارا أمس الأول في المبنى 22 معرض “جدار” للفنان الفلسطيني حيان منور، وذلك بحضور سعادة السيد منير غنام سفير فلسطين لدى قطر والسيد سيف الدوسري مدير إدارة الموارد البشرية بالمؤسسة العامة للحي الثقافي كتارا، وعدد من الفنانين والمهتمين.
وقد ضم المعرض 33 عملاً التي قال عنها الفنان حيان منور بطل المعرض هو الإنسان اينما كان ولقد جاءت فكرة المعرض لتبين القمع للحدود التي يريد الإنسان تخطيها وتجاوزها. وأضاف: الجدار نراه في كل الأعمال يحد الأفق، بارد أصم يحيط بالإنسان من كل جانب. أما الكرسي فهو دلالة على ترحال هذا الإنسان المستمر بحثاً عن الاستقرار والغراب دلالة على الشماتة والموت المتربصين بهذا الإنسان أينما حل والقبة هي الأمل والنور الذي يسعى دائماً إلى وصوله “وبين قوله “هي مشاهد أروي بها معاناة هذا الإنسان، عجزه أحياناً ومحاولاته لتخطي هذا التربص تارةً أخرى. وكما بدأت بأن لكلٍ منا جدارا يحاول تجاوزه “.
وأوضح أن هذا العمل هو ضمن 26 عملاً انجزها، معبرًا عن شكره للدعم الكبير من الحي الثقافي كتارا ودعا الجميع لزيارة المعرض والتأمل في لوحاته.
جدير بالذكر أن حيّان منّور، فنان تشكيلي ومصمم رقمي ولد ونشأ في قطر. أكمل تعليمه في ربوع وأحضان مدارسها، حتى حصل على بكالوريوس الفنون الجميلة – اختصاص التصوير الزيتي من كلية الفنون الجميلة في دمشق – سورية 2004.
وللإشارة فإن المعرض يتواصل حتى 20 نوفمبر الجاري في المبنى 22 معرض2.
