Solar tracking system installed at Al Kharsaah station

Doha: Ideematec, a leading global supplier of solar tracking systems, on Tuesday announced that its innovative clean technology, the world’s largest single-axis solar tracker, will be installed in Qatar’s landmark solar facility aimed at helping Qatar meet its target of supplying 10 per cent of peak electricity demand in the country.

The company will supply 800 megawatts (MW) of its Bifacial optimized Horizon Plus solar tracker for Qatar’s solar power plant, one of the world’s biggest using a two-in-portrait (2P) single axis tracker.

The Al-Kharsaah solar facility, located approximately 80 kilometers west of the capital Doha, is the third-largest solar plant in the world and the first utility-scale solar project in Qatar. It is on track to be fully operational before the 2022 World Cup as well as support the Qatar National Vision 2030 for sustainable development by facilitating local decarbonization. 

“We are honored to be chosen by leading global companies to supply our Horizon Plus solar tracker for this record-breaking project,” said Mario Eckl, CEO of Ideematec. “This milestone power plant will strengthen our Middle-East and North African (MENA) portfolio, which is on pace to total 1.6 gigawatts (GW) by 2021.”

To boost energy production and reduce maintenance costs, the plant will be one of the first in the world to utilize robots for ongoing and proactive cleaning. This is made possible by the tracker’s record-breaking length of 190 meters. Ideematec will support the project’s installation and on-site logistics and commissioning. 

Ideematec has supplied trackers for some of the largest PV plants worldwide, including projects in Australia, Jordan, Morocco and Europe. In 2019, the company successfully delivered four flagship projects, each generating a significant contribution of solar energy to their region. With more than 860 MW trackers already delivered and in-operation in the MENA region, Ideematec’s Horizon Trackers are now stabilizing and exceeding their 2019 ranking as third leading supplier in the market.

الدوحة: أعلنت آيديماتِك، الشركة العالمية الرائدة في تزويد أنظمة التتبع الشمسي، أنَّ نظام التتبع الشمسي أحادي المحور الأكبر عالمياً، وهو أحد ابتكاراتها للطاقة النظيفة، سيتم تركيبه في المنشأة الأبرز لتوليد الطاقة الشمسية بدولة قطر، وذلك لدعم الدولة في تحقيق هدفها المتمثل في تلبية زيادة بنسبة 10% في الطلب على الكهرباء، وتعتزم الشركة توريد نُظُمها المعزَّزة ثنائية الوجه “هورايزون بلس TM” باستطاعة 800 ميجاواط إلى محطة توليد الطاقة الشمسية بدولة قطر، وهي إحدى أكبر المحطات العالمية التي تستعين بنظام التتبع أحادي المحور بالنمط ثنائي الوحدات.

وقال ماريو إيكل، الرئيس التنفيذي لشركة «آيديماتيك»: “نحنُ فخورون باختيارنا من قبل الشركات العالمية الرائدة لتوريد نظامنا «هورايزون بلس TM» للتتبع الشمسي لهذا المشروع الضخم. إنَّ هذه المحطة العملاقة ستعزز محفظة مشروعاتنا في منطقة الشرق الأوسط وشمال إفريقيا، والتي ستصل قدرتها الإنتاجية من الطاقة إلى 1.6 جيجاواط بحلول 2021.”، وتُعتبر المحطة إحدى أولى المنشآت في العالم التي تستعين بالروبوتات في عمليات التنظيف الجارية والاستباقية، لتعزز بذلك من إنتاجية الطاقة وتحد من تكاليف الصيانة، وهو أمر لم يكن ممكناً لولا نظام التتبع الشمسي الأكبر من نوعه بطولٍ يصل إلى 190 متراً. وستقدم شركة «آيديماتيك» أيضاً الدعم لتركيب عناصر ومكونات المشروع والبدء بتشغيله.
