Education Excellence Award introduced to private schools

DOHA: The Organising Committee of the Education Excellence Award held a meeting with representatives of private schools in Qatar to introduce them to the different categories of the award and the general conditions for application and the related procedures for nomination.

The meeting, held at the Jassim bin Hamad Conference Hall in the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, also briefed the private schools representatives about how to prepare the required documents and correctly fill and submit their applications, said a release .

The meeting comes within the efforts of the EED Award organising committee to increase the number of the participating private schools in all categories of the award, especially the Outstanding Primary, Preparatory and Secondary Student categories as well as the Outstanding Research Project for secondary students and the EED Award for the Outstanding School.

The prize is awarded to one government and private school. Each winning school will receive QR100.000, a certificate of excellence and a gold medal.

The committee plans to organise a series of related workshops for students of private schools and their parents on the award and to brief them about the requirements for application.

The meeting was chaired by Dr Hamda Al Sulaiti, the Executive Chairperson of the EED Award and Hassan Abdulla Al Mohamedi, the Chairman of the Executive Committee.

The organising committee of the EED award has started receiving the applications since Monday corresponding to October 1. The committee calls on all Qataris who meet the requirements to submit their nominations before the deadline on October 31, 2018.

Schools shall receive all applications for the Outstanding Teacher award category from their respective teachers. Students should submit their nominations for the Outstanding Student award (primary, preparatory and secondary) and for the Outstanding Research Paper award (secondary students only) to their respective schools. Schools can nominate themselves for the Outstanding School award.

All nominations must be handed by schools to the Department of Public Relations and Communications of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education.

The Public Relations Office of Qatar University shall receive nominations from its respective university graduates for the same award category.

Students who hold PhD and Master’s degrees may apply directly to the Department of Public Relations and Communications at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education. All applications for nomination should be submitted by hand through the public relations offices in all institutions, sectors and schools.

عقدت اللجنة المنظمة لجائزة التميز العلمي اجتماعا اليوم، مع ممثلي المدارس الخاصة في دولة قطر، تم خلاله تعريفهم بفئات الجائزة والشروط العامة للتقديم، وكيفية تعبئة طلبات الترشح وإعداد الأدلة المطلوبة.

جاء الاجتماع في إطار جهود اللجنة للتعريف بجائزة التميز العلمي، وتوسيع دائرة المشاركة فيها من قبل المدارس الخاصة، لا سيما وأن جائزة المدرسة المتميزة يتم منحها لمدرستين إحداهما حكومية والأخرى خاصة، ولكل منهما مكافأة نقدية قدرها 100 ألف ريال قطري وشهادة تميز وميدالية ذهبية.

وتعتزم اللجنة تنظيم العديد من الفعاليات والورش التي تعرف طلبة المدارس الخاصة بفئات الجائزة، وتوعية أولياء الأمور بمتطلبات الترشح للجائزة وإعداد الملفات، وغير ذلك من الشروط والمعايير الخاصة بكل فئة.

يذكر أن اللجنة المنظمة بدأت تلقي طلبات الترشح للجائزة في دورتها الثانية عشرة بفئاتها المختلفة أمس الاثنين، ويستمر التقديم حتى نهاية شهر أكتوبر الجاري.
