250,000 benefit from SC’s Generation Amazing program

DOHA: Generation Amazing, a social responsibility program at the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy (SC), has benefitted more than 250,000 people since being launched during Qatar’s successful bid to host the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

The program is currently operational in Nepal, Pakistan, Jordan, Lebanon, the Philippines and India, and is set to expand to further countries over the next four years. It has boosted 26 under-privileged communities, including refugee camps, by building football pitches and implementing bespoke social programs.

In addition, since 2016, Generation Amazing has been supporting workers and schoolchildren in Qatar through inspirational and educational training sessions. To-date, more than 180 coaches have been trained to deliver Generation Amazing programs in the country.

SC Secretary-General Hassan Al Thawadi said, “Generation Amazing utilises the power of football to help under-privileged people develop their leadership, communication and organisational skills. It has been a great success. Our goal is to reach a million people by 2022; so far we have benefitted 250,000 people.”

“The great thing is we are seeing the results develop organically,” added Al Thawadi.

“During the recent flooding in Kerala, for example, two Generation Amazing ambassadors, who are workers in Qatar and became part of the program, utilised the skills they had learned to help with the crisis their community faced.”

In addition to building football pitches and implementing social programs, Generation Amazing has selected participants to attend successive FIFA World Cup tournaments in South Africa, Brazil and Russia. During the trips, participants have attended matches, along with social development workshops, such as leadership courses.

Legendary midfielder Xavi Hernandez was announced as a Generation Amazing ambassador two years ago. He said it was an honor to be involved with the program. “Generation Amazing really inspires me through the fantastic work they are doing with different groups within society. Joining the Generation Amazing program, and helping children, migrant workers, refugees and the people who need it most, is a real privilege for me.”

حقق «الجيل المبهر» -برنامج المسؤولية الاجتماعية في اللجنة العليا للمشاريع والإرث- إنجازاً جديداً؛ حيث استطاع الوصول إلى أكثر من 250 ألف مستفيد من قطر، والنيبال، وباكستان، والأردن، ولبنان، والفلبين، والهند؛ والمساهمة في تغيير حياتهم بشكل إيجابي. ويهدف «الجيل المبهر» إلى الاستفادة من قوة كرة القدم وشعبيتها الواسعة في تغيير حياة الأفراد، خاصة في المجتمعات المهمشة أو التي تعرّضت لحروب وكوارث طبيعية، وذلك من خلال تنفيذ مبادرات اجتماعية، وبناء ملاعب كرة قدم لتشجيع أهلها على ممارسة الرياضة وتبنّي نمط حياة صحي. علاوة على ذلك، أسهم برنامج «الجيل المبهر» -منذ انطلاقته الأولى عام 2016- في دعم العمال وطلبة المدارس من خلال تنظيم ورش عمل تعليمية. وقد تم حتى الآن تأهيل 180 مدرباً لتقديم مختلف مبادرات وبرامج الجيل المبهر في مختلف أنحاء قطر.

وأشاد سعادة الأمين العام للجنة العليا، حسن الذوادي، في كلمة ألقاها مؤخراً في مؤتمر عُقد في نيويورك، إلى الدور الحيوي المهم الذي يلعبه برنامج «الجيل المبهر» في تعزيز دور كرة القدم في تطوير المجتمعات الأقل حظاً؛ حيث قال: «يستخدم الجيل المبهر قوة كرة القدم لمساعدة الأفراد من خلال تزويدهم بمهارات قيادية وتنظيمية واجتماعية مهمة. إننا فخورون بوصول البرنامج إلى 250 ألف فرد حول العالم، وسنبذل قصارى جهدنا لتحقيق رؤية البرنامج والوصول إلى مليون فرد بحلول عام 2022».

وأضاف سعادته: «في إطار رؤية الجيل المبهر وأهدافه الرامية إلى تعزيز حياة الأفراد، ساعد عاملان من عمال مشاريع بطولة كأس العالم لكرة القدم قطر 2022 -وهما سفيران من سفراء الجيل المبهر- متضرري الفيضان الذي ضرب ولاية كيرلا جنوب الهند مؤخراً. وقد استثمر السفيران المهارات التي اكتسباها خلال البرنامج في دعم جهود الإغاثة هناك».

وفي تعليقه على برنامج «الجيل المبهر»، أشار أسطورة كرة القدم تشافي هيرنانديز -الذي تم الإعلان عن تعيينه سفيراً لبرنامج «الجيل المبهر» قبل عامين- إلى فخره برسالة البرنامج والإسهام في تحقيقها، قائلاً: «يعتبر هذا البرنامج مصدر إلهام لي، نظراً لما يحققه من إنجازات ملموسة في حياة الأفراد من مختلف دول العالم. إن عملي في هذا البرنامج الرائد يمنحني فرصة قيّمة لمساعدة الأطفال، والعمال، والنازحين، وغيرهم من خلال تشجيعهم على ممارسة كرة القدم واستثمارها بشكل ملموس».;
