Sheikha Moza participates in QF stage of ‘Flag Relay’

H H Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, Chairperson of Qatar Foundation, participated yesterday in the ‘Flag Relay’ at Education City, which was attended by H E Sheikha Hind bint Hamad Al Thani, Vice-Chairperson and CEO of Qatar Foundation, and H E Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, President of Qatar Olympic Committee.

The sport-themed event saw the Qatari flag carried across the nation by athletes, students, and members of the public, with Education City forming part of the relay route. The stage of the Flag Relay that unfolded at QF concluded with H H Sheikha Moza receiving the Qatari flag at Education City’s Oxygen Park.

QF’s involvement in the Flag Relay – which covered a distance of about 380km across Doha and, in addition to marking Qatar National Day, also served as a celebration of Qatar’s sporting achievements – reflected its continued contribution to nurturing a strong, healthy, active, and engaged society in Qatar through its community development initiatives and programmes.

After arriving at Education City, the flag was received by a student from Qatar Academy Doha, part of QF’s Pre-University Education, and then traveled by hand and on horseback to QF HQ, where it was received by Machaille Al Naimi, President of Community Development, QF. Having been carried through QF HQ by Al Naimi, the flag was taken forward by Education City students who jogged through QF partner university Weill Cornell Medicine – Qatar (WCM-Q).

Outside WCM-Q, the emblem of Qatar was received by H E Sheikha Hind, who carried the flag to Qatar National Library. It was then passed to national cycling team member Abdallah Al Juaidi, who, together with a group of cyclists, rode the flag to the entrance of Oxygen Park.

Participants in the Education City stage of the Flag Relay contributed to national efforts to strengthen the pride, unity, and solidarity of Qatar’s community.

شاركت صاحبة السمو الشيخة موزا بنت ناصر، رئيس مجلس إدارة مؤسسة قطر للتربية والعلوم وتنمية المجتمع، أمس، في فعالية «جولة العلم» بالمدينة التعليمية، بحضور سعادة الشيخة هند بنت حمد آل ثاني، نائب رئيس مجلس الإدارة والرئيس التنفيذي للمؤسسة، وسعادة الشيخ جوعان بن حمد آل ثاني رئيس اللجنة الأولمبية القطرية. وقد انضم مختلف أفراد المجتمع إلى قيادات مؤسسة قطر، ونخبة من الرياضيين، وعدد من طلاب المدينة التعليمية، للمشاركة في هذه الفعالية الوطنية التي شهدتها المؤسسة.

واختتمت بتسلّم صاحبة السمو الشيخة موزا بنت ناصر، العلم القطري، في حديقة الأكسجين بالمدينة التعليمية.

جاءت مشاركة مؤسسة قطر في «جولة العلم»، والتي تمتد على مسافة 380 كم عبر الدوحة وخارجها، في إطار احتفال المؤسسة باليوم الوطني، بموازاة الإنجازات الرياضية التي تحققها دولة قطر، ما يعكس إسهامات المؤسسة، ودورها في تعزيز تنمية المجتمع، من خلال دعم مختلف المبادرات وبرامج التنمية المجتمعية، ولا سيّما تلك التي ترسخّ وحدة المجتمع القطري.;
