SC, HIA successfully wrap up airport Fan Zone

The Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC) and Hamad International Airport (HIA) have wrapped up a month of activities held at the airport’s football Fan Zone throughout the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

The fan zone was a “huge success with 50,000 active participants enjoying the exciting matches in three beautifully themed areas, which were set up as a living room, a stadium and a majlis – a traditional Arabic seating area where guests are received”, according to a press statement.

As part of the festivities, the SC and HIA also launched a ‘digital portal’, providing football fans travelling through the airport with an interactive experience by allowing them to view live streams of the different landmarks in Russia during the 2018 FIFA World Cup, including Kamergersky Lane, Revolutionary Square, Tsvetnoy Boulevard in Moscow, and Bolshaya Morskaya Street and Dvortsovaya Square in St Petersburg.

Football fans in Russia also had the opportunity to view the iconic yellow Lamp Bear at HIA through the portal.

The SC’s director of Communications, Fatma al-Nuaimi, said: “It’s now just over four years until Qatar welcomes the world to the first World Cup to be held in the Middle East, and the first in the Arab world. It’s been fantastic to be able to give fans at HIA a real taste of things to come. We look forward to welcoming them all back for what we hope will be the best World Cup yet. Finally, I’d like to thank everyone involved in the Fan Zone and I look forward to working closely with HIA in the coming years.”

“Hamad International Airport is truly a gateway to the world and the World Cup excitement this past month as we brought the action of 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia to our airport, ensuring that travellers never missed a moment of the worldwide football phenomenon. As the next FIFA World Cup destination, we wanted to bring the World Cup spirit to life by merging our world-class facilities, hospitable culture and love for football,” said Abdulaziz al-Mass, vice-president Commercial and Marketing, HIA.

The entire terminal displayed a World Cup spirit with roaming entertainment, including football freestylers and jugglers, as well as impromptu football matches.

Pop-up activations with foosball games and virtual football were also available throughout the month and fans had the chance to have their faces painted with their favourite country’s flag. The airport Fan Zone welcomed as many as 2,600 active participants on a single day, the statement noted.

In the spirit of the 2018 FIFA World Cup, official memorabilia were also on sale at Qatar Duty Free stores. Shoppers had the opportunity to take selfies with the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia mascot, as well as take personal selfies by the Lamp Bear area, which was transformed into a large football pitch.

The airport Fan Zone is the latest step in HIA’s preparation for the 2022 FIFA World Cup. HIA, awarded ‘Best Airport in the Middle East by the Skytrax World Airport Awards for three years in a row, is instrumental in giving the warmest welcome to thousands of football fans travelling from across the globe to Doha.

Qatar’s airport is aiming to provide seamless connectivity for fans of the 2022 FIFA World Cup and working towards smoothly handling more than 50mn passengers per year and as many as 96,000 arriving passengers per day during the World Cup period.

اختتمت اللجنة العليا للمشاريع والإرث ومطار حمد الدولي، الأنشطة والفعاليات التي أقيمت لمدة شهر كامل في منطقة مشجعي كرة القدم في المطار طوال فترة بطولة كأس العالم لكرة القدم روسيا 2018.

وقد حققت منطقة المشجعين نجاحاً باهراً، إذ استقبلت خمسين ألف مسافر استمتعوا بمشاهدة المباريات الشيقة في ثلاث مساحات صممت بطريقة مميزة وعلى ثلاث اشكال وهم : غرفة جلوس، ملعب كرة قدم، ومجلس عربي تقليدي (مكان لاستقبال الضيوف).

وفي إطار هذه الفعاليات، أطلقت اللجنة العليا للمشاريع والإرث ومطار حمد الدولي “بوابات رقمية” توفر لعشاق كرة القدم المسافرين عبر المطار تجربة تفاعلية تعرض لهم بثاً مباشراً لمختلف المعالم الموجودة في روسيا خلال بطولة كأس العالم لكرة القدم 2018، من بينها جادة كاميرغسكي وساحة الثورة تسفيتنوي في موسكو، وشارع بولشايا مورسكايا وساحة القصر في سان بطرسبرج. كما أتاحت البوابات الفرصة أمام عشاق كرة القدم في روسيا لمشاهدة العمل الفني الدب المصباح الشهير الموجود في مطار حمد الدولي.??

وبهذه المناسبة قالت السيدة فاطمة النعيمي، مدير الاتصالات في اللجنة العليا للمشاريع والإرث لشؤون البطولة: “لم يتبق سوى أربع سنوات على استضافة قطر بطولة كأس العالم لكرة القدم التي ستعقد لأول مرة في منطقة الشرق الأوسط والعالم العربي. ومن الرائع حقاً أن نمنح مشجعي كرة القدم في مطار حمد الدولي لمحة عن المستقبل. نحن متشوقون للترحيب بهم مجدداً في بطولة كأس العالم القادمة التي نأمل أن تكون أفضل بطولة ستقام حتى حينها. وأود أن أشكر جميع الحضور في منطقة المشجعين وأتطلع للعمل عن كثب مع مطار حمد الدولي خلال السنوات القادمة”.

ومن جانبه قال السيد عبد العزيز الماس ، نائب الرئيس التنفيذي للعمليات التجارية و التسويق في مطار حمد الدولي: “أثبت مطار حمد الدولي خلال الشهر الماضي أنه بالفعل بوابة إلى العالم، إذ نقل أجواء الإثارة المحيطة ببطولة كأس العالم وتمكن من جلب فعاليات كأس العالم روسيا 2018 إلى داخل المطار بحيث لم يفوت المسافرون لحظة من لحظات هذه الظاهرة الكروية العالمية. وبما أننا الدولة المستضيفة للبطولة القادمة، أردنا أن نحيي روح كأس العالم من خلال الجمع بين مرافقنا ذات المستوى العالمي وثقافة حسن الضيافة وشغف كرة القدم”.

وعرضت محطة المسافرين بأكملها في المطار أجواء كأس العالم واستضافت فعاليات ترفيهية شملت استعراض كرة القدم “فري ستايل” وحركات بهلوانية لكرة القدم ومباريات كرة قدم ارتجالية. بالإضافة إلى إقامة أنشطة إلكترونية تفاعلية شملت ألعاب كرة القدم اليدوية “فوسبول” وكرة القدم الافتراضية طوال الشهر، وحظي المشجعون بفرصة رسم علم دولتهم المفضلة على وجوههم. وقد رحبت منطقة المشجعين في المطار بما يقارب 2,600 مشارك في اليوم الواحد.

وفي إطار أجواء بطولة كأس العالم روسيا 2018، تم عرض تذكارات رسمية للبيع في محلات السوق الحرة القطرية. وحظي المتسوقون بفرصة التقاط صور “سلفي” مع شخصية بطولة كأس العالم لكرة القدم 2018 والتقاط صور في منطقة تحفة الدب المصباح البارزة، التي تم تغيير تصميمها لتحاكي ملعب كرة قدم كبير.

وتعد منطقة المشجعين في مطار حمد الدولي أحدث الفعاليات التحضيرية التي أقامها المطار استعداداً لبطولة كأس العالم 2022. ويعد مطار حمد الدولي، الحائز على جائزة “أفضل مطار في الشرق الأوسط” من سكاي تراكس العالمية للعام الثالث على التوالي، محطة مهمة للترحيب بالآلاف من مشجعي كرة القدم المسافرين من جميع أنحاء العالم إلى الدوحة.

ويهدف المطار إلى توفير تواصل سلس لجمهور بطولة كأس العالم 2022، كما يعمل بجد ليستوعب بسهولة أكثر من 50 مليون مسافر سنوياً وما يصل إلى 96,000 مسافر يومياً خلال فترة بطولة العالم.
