Ashghal Begins Works on Mebaireek Interchange

Doha: Within the expressway program, the Public Works Authority Ashghal has started construction works on the project of Mebaireek Interchange and upgrading of Khalid Bin Ahmed Interchange, known as Industrial Intersection on Salwa Road.

The project aims to enhance traffic flow on Salwa Road for commuters heading to Industrial Area and the surrounding areas such as Ain Khaled, Al Murrah, New Fereej Al Ghanim, Muaither, Al Sailiya, Mebaireek and Abu Nakhlah. The project is due by the third quarter of 2022.

Ashghal will build a new two-level interchange between Al Sailiya Interchange and Mesaieed Interchange, connecting Salwa Road and Mebaireek Street. The proposed interchange includes two main bridges, 330 meters long each, with several exit points, loops and accesses to local roads connected to the new interchange, facilitating traffic movement in all directions.

The works of the new intersection include construction of bypass roads and local roads with a total length of about 3km, in addition to construction of 3km of pedestrian paths and 3km of bicycle paths, whereas the area of tree plantation on both sides of the intersection is about 41,000 sqmt.

Mebaireek Interchange will contribute to improving traffic flow in the area, shortening journey time by 50%, accommodating more than 8500 vehicles per hour. Construction of Mebaireek Interchange aims to provide direct free link for commuters through Salwa Road towards Mebaireek and Al Sailiya areas.

The upgrade project includes development and expansion of Khalid Bin Ahmed Interchange, converting the roundabout into a signal-controlled intersection to connect Salwa Road, Al Furousiya Street and East Industrial Street. It will enhance traffic flow accommodating 8,500 vehicles per hour instead of 5000, cutting mobility time to about 80%. The signal-controlled intersection will consist of six lanes with many entry-exit points, 2.8km long connection roads, besides tree planation over an approximated area of 10,000 square meters.

The new signal-controlled intersection will regulate traffic and provide more traffic safety instead of existing roundabout, with necessary expansion, which will facilitate connection of traffic between Salwa Road, Al Furousiya Street and East Industrial Street, and serve the residential neighborhoods in the area.

On this occasion, Eng. Noah Al Joof from the Highway Projects Department at Ashghal explained that converting Khalid Bin Ahmed Interchange roundabout into a signal-controlled intersection reduces travel time to various destinations by approximately 80%, while construction of Mebaireek Bridge and several local roads connected to the new Mebaireek intersection will reduce the journey time to about 50%. Eng. Al Joof further said that construction of two intersections on Salwa Road will enhance traffic flow between Doha, Al Rayyan Municipality and external areas, as it provides alternate option to Al Sailiya Interchange.

Engineer Noah Al Joof added that it is planned to rely on local materials and local manufacturers in the project work, as it will rely on local Qatari resources to supply materials such as lighting poles, traffic signs, sewage pipes, rainwater drainage pipes, asphalt and precast hard materials including manholes, concrete and steel, as the target percentage of local components of the project is 80%, within the framework of Ashghals strategic initiative to support local manufacturers in accordance with the Taheel Initiative launched in 2017.

HE noted the prominent features of the project, as it includes distinctive construction methods such as use of precast steel beams to reduce closure of underpass at Al Furousiya and Salwa Interchange. Mebaireek Bridge is also to be implemented in phases to avoid traffic closure before Salwa Road users, he added.

Eng Noah Al-Joof also noted that construction of Industrial and Mebaireek intersections will contribute significantly to enhance movement of passengers and goods, as they constitute a link between Abu Samra border point in the southwest and Hamad Port.

He further added that allocation of pedestrian and cycling paths will encourage residents of neighborhoods to adopt a healthy lifestyle, and construction of a number of local roads on both sides of the interchange will contribute to ease traffic congestion and achieve improved traffic safety.

الدوحة: بدأت هيئة الأشغال العامة “أشغال” تنفيذ مشروع إنشاء تقاطع مبيريك وتطوير تقاطع خالد بن أحمد المعروف بتقاطع “الصناعية” على طريق سلوى، ضمن برنامج الطرق السريعة الذي تنفذه هيئة الأشغال العامة.

ويهدف المشروع إلى تعزيز الحركة المرورية على طريق سلوى أمام المتجهين إلى المنطقة الصناعية والمناطق المحيطة مثل عين خالد والمرة وفريج الغانم الجديد ومعيذر والسيلية ومبيريك وبونخلة، حيث من المتوقع الانتهاء من المشروع في الربع الثالث من 2022.

وتقوم هيئة الأشغال العامة ببناء تقاطع جديد من مستويين يقع بين كل من تقاطع السيلية وتقاطع مسيعيد ليربط بين طريق سلوى وشارع مبيريك، حيث سيتضمن التقاطع جسرين رئيسيين بطول 330 مترا، بالإضافة إلى المخارج والجسور الالتفافية ومجموعة من الطرق المحلية المتصلة بالتقاطع الجديد لتسهيل الحركة المرورية على التقاطع في جميع الاتجاهات.

وتتضمن أعمال بناء التقاطع الجديد إنشاء طرق التفافية وطرق محلية بأطوال تصل في مجموعها إلى نحو 3 كيلومترات، إضافة إلى إنشاء 3 كيلومترات من مسارات المشاة و مسارات الدراجات الهوائية، فيما تصل مساحة أعمال التشجير على طرفي التقاطع إلى نحو 41 ألف متر مربع.

وسيساهم تقاطع مبيريك في تحسين الحركة المرورية في المنطقة ويختصر زمن الرحلات بنحو 50 بالمائة، حيث سيوفر التقاطع تدفقا مروريا حرا إلى السيلية من جهة ومبيريك من الجهة الأخرى، كما يوفر التقاطع الجديد خيارا بديلا عن تقاطع السيلية المجاور، مما يخفف من الضغط المروري هناك، خصوصا وأن التقاطع الجديد يستوعب نحو أكثر من 8 آلاف و500 مركبة في الساعة.

ويتضمن المشروع كذلك تطوير وتوسعة تقاطع خالد بن أحمد (الصناعية) مع تحويل الدوار إلى تقاطع بإشارات ضوئية لربط طريق سلوى بشارع الفروسية من جهة وشارع الصناعية الشرقي من الجهة الأخرى، مما سيعمل على تعزيز التدفق المروري بواقع 8 آلاف و500 سيارة في الساعة بدلا من 5 آلاف سيارة في الساعة، مما يخفض زمن التنقل بنحو 80 بالمائة، حيث سيتألف التقاطع الضوئي من 6 مسارات ويوفر مخارج ومداخل للتقاطع مع الطرق المتصلة بالتقاطع إلى 2.8 كيلومتر، وسيتم زراعة نحو 12 ألف متر مربع من أعمال التشجير.

وسيعمل التقاطع الضوئي الجديد على تنظيم حركة المرور وتوفير مزيد من السلامة المرورية بدلا من الدوار القائم، مع عمل التوسعة اللازمة وهو ما يسهل ربط المرور بين طريق سلوى وشارع الفروسية وشارع الصناعية الشرقي ويخدم سكان المناطق المحيطة.

وفي هذا الإطار، أوضح المهندس نوح الجوف من إدارة مشروعات الطرق السريعة في “أشغال” أن تحويل دوار تقاطع خالد بن أحمد الحيوي مع توسعته إلى تقاطع بإشارات ضوئية سيقلص من زمن الرحلات المتوقع إلى مختلف الوجهات بنحو 80 بالمائة، بينما سيسهم إنشاء تقاطع مبيريك وعدة طرق محلية متصلة به في تقليص زمن الرحلات إلى نحو 50 بالمائة، مشيرا إلى أن إنشاء التقاطعين الواقعين على طريق سلوى سوف يعزز من تدفق حركة المرور بين الدوحة وبلدية الريان من ناحية وبين المناطق الخارجية من ناحية أخرى، ويوفر خيارا بديلا لتقاطع السيلية.

وأضاف أنه من المخطط الاعتماد على المواد المحلية والمصانع الوطنية في أعمال المشروع، حيث سيتم الاعتماد على العناصر المحلية القطرية في توريد المواد مثل أعمدة الإنارة واللافتات وأنابيب الصرف الصحي وتصريف مياه الأمطار والإسفلت والمناهل مسبقة الصنع، بالإضافة إلى الخرسانة وحديد التسليح، حيث أن النسبة المستهدفة من المكون المحلي للمشروع هي 80 بالمائة، وذلك في إطار دعم هيئة الأشغال العامة للمصانع المحلية وفق “مبادرة تأهيل” التي أطلقتها الهيئة في العام 2017.

ولفت الى أن مميزات المشروع تتمثل في توفير وسائل بناء متميزة كاستخدام قمرات حديدية مسبقة الصنع للحد من إغلاق النفق عند تقاطع الفروسية وسلوى، وكذلك تم التخطيط لتنفيذ جسر مبيريك على مراحل لعدم إغلاق حركة السير لمستخدمي طريق سلوى.. مشيرا إلى أن انشاء تقاطعي الصناعية ومبيريك سوف يسهم بشكل ملحوظ في تعزيز حركة نقل المسافرين والبضائع لما يشكلانه من نقطتي التقاء بين نقطة أبو سمرة الحدودية في الجنوب الغربي وميناء حمد.

وأكد على أن إنشاء ممرات للمشاة ومسارات لراكبي الدراجات سوف يشجع سكان المنطقة على تبني نمط حياة صحي، كما أن إنشاء عدد من الطرق المحلية على طرفي التقاطع سوف يسهم بدوره في تخفيف الازدحام المروري وفي تحقيق السلامة المرورية المطلوبة.
