Qatar Airways welcomes undergraduates to summer intern programme

Qatar Airways’ Al Darb Qatarisation Programme welcomed 47 new undergraduates into its summer internship programme for the 2018 summer session, it was announced.

The undergraduates were greeted in two batches; the first induction ceremony on May 20 and the second on June 24 at the Oryx Rotana.

By joining Qatar Airways, this year’s interns dedicated themselves to an ongoing commitment to excellence and hard work.

The programme, which began in 2012, will see undergraduates introduced to Qatar Airways’ energetic workplace, enabling them to gain and enhance various essential career skills and experiences that will aid them in any field that they choose to pursue after their graduation.

“Qatar Airways offers an international work environment for all its employees, that helps pave the way to a future of possibilities and successes for them both within the company, as well as for their own personal development,” Qatar Airways’ human resources senior vice president Nabeela Fakhri said.

Al Darb Qatarisation Programme offers young nationals a unique and personalised opportunity to become brand ambassadors for the airline as well as for Qatar.

On completion of the programme they will be empowered and enriched with learnings and experiences that will ensure progress and growth for themselves and for our country.

“I am delighted that the bright nationals who have joined the summer internship programme bring with them the enthusiasim and motivation to learn and grow in their careers. We look forward to watching them discover their true passion through the various opportunities that we are offering them to choose from within our airline,” Fakhri said.

While on the summer internship programme, interns will begin with four days of training to help them learn and develop their office skills such as email writing, effective presentation skills and Microsoft Excel workshops, to prepare them to work in a professional environment.

Following their induction training, the students will then be paired with a performance coach, who will guide and mentor them along, thus ensuring that each one of them makes the most of their internship experience with Qatar Airways.

This year’s interns will gain experience in several divisions within the airline including commercial, finance, information technology, human resources, aeropolitical and corporate affairs, legal and technical, as well as with the company’s subsidiary – Qatar Airways Cargo.

When the internship programme concludes at the end of summer, students will proudly display newly-honed skills in planning and managing resources.

In addition, they will be able to exhibit newly acquired skill sets, learned while working in a real business environment which includes working on multiple assignments, effective time-management, interacting with colleagues, organisation and management.

Interns who participate in the Al Darb Qatarisation summer internship programme are eligible to receive course credits from a number of universities.

Presently there are nine local and international universities that will award class credit to students who complete an internship at Qatar Airways: Virginia Commonwealth University, Northwestern University, Qatar University, Stenden University, University of Colorado (US), Arizona State University (US), University of Utah (US), University of Huddersfield (UK) and Leeds Beckett University (UK).

رحّب برنامج الدرب للتقطير التابع للخطوط الجوية القطرية بإنضمام 47 طالبا إلى برنامج التدريب الصيفي لعام 2018.

واستقبل برنامج الدرب للتقطير الطلاب على دفعتين، حيث أقيمت الجلسة التعريفية الأولى في 20 مايو 2018، فيما أقيمت الجلسة التعريفية الثانية في فندق أوريكس روتانا في 24 يونيو 2018.

ولدى انضمامهم إلى الخطوط الجوية القطرية، أظهر طلّاب برنامج التدريب الصيفي إلتزاماً كبيراً بالإمتياز وبذل كل جهد ممكن لتعزيز مهاراتهم وخبراتهم.

ويشمل البرنامج، الذي تم إطلاقه في عام 2012، تعريف الطلاب ببيئة العمل في الخطوط الجوية القطرية، وتمكينهم من اكتساب خبرات جديدة وشحذ مهاراتهم مما يساعدهم على النجاح في وظائفهم المستقبلية بعد إتمام دراستهم وتخرّجهم.

وقالت السيدة نبيلة فخري، نائب أول الرئيس التنفيذي للموارد البشرية في الخطوط الجوية القطرية: “تتيح الخطوط الجوية القطرية بيئة عمل عالمية لجميع موظفيها، لتساعدهم على تدشين مسار مهني ناجح لهم في الشركة وتطوير مهاراتهم على المستوى الشخصي. ويقدم برنامج الدرب للتقطير فرصة فريدة من نوعها للطلاب لكي يصبحوا سفراء للناقلة القطرية ولدولة قطر. ولدى إكمالهم للبرنامج، لا شك بأن الطلاب سوف يكون لديهم المعرفة والخبرات اللازمة لضمان مستقبل مهني مميز، مما يساعدهم على تطوير أنفسهم وتطوير بلادهم”.

وأضافت السيدة نبيلة فخري: “يسرّني امتلاك جميع الطلاب الذين انضموا لبرنامج التدريب الصيفي الطموح والقدرة على التعلّم والتطوّر في وظائفهم، ونتطلع قدماً إلى مشاهدتهم يكتشفون شغفهم من خلال العديد من الفرص المتاحة في الخطوط الجوية القطرية”.

وسوف يدشّن الطلّاب عملية تطوير مهاراتهم في برنامج التدريب الصيفي بأربعة أيام من التدريب لمساعدتهم على تطوير مهاراتهم المكتبية مثل كتابة البريد الإلكتروني والمهارات المؤثرة في التقديم ومهارات استخدام مايكروسوفت إكسل، وذلك بهدف تحضيرهم لبيئة العمل الفعلية. وبعد إتمامهم للتدريب، سوف ينضم كل طالب إلى مدرب آداء لضمان تحقيق الاستفادة القصوى من التدريب في الخطوط الجوية القطرية.

وسوف يحظى المتدربون هذا العام بالفرصة لشحذ مهاراتهم في مختلف أقسام الخطوط الجوية القطرية، بما في ذلك الأقسام التجارية والمالية وتكنولوجيات المعلومات والموارد البشرية والشؤون الجوية والمؤسسية والقانونية والتقنية، بالإضافة إلى إمكانية التدرّب ضمن أقسام القطرية للشحن الجوي التابعة لمجموعة الخطوط الجوية القطرية. ولدى إتمام الطلّاب للبرنامج نهاية هذا الصيف، سوف يستعرضون المهارات الجديدة التي اكتسبوها في إدارة وتخطيط الأعمال وإنجاز العديد من المهام في أوقات محددة وأسلوب التعامل مع زملاء العمل، والتنظيم والإدارة.

ويتم احتساب دورة التدريب الصيفي ضمن الساعات الجامعية المعتمدة في عدد من الجامعات المحلية والدولية.

وحالياً، هنالك تسع جامعات تحتسب الدوارت والبرامج التي تنظمها الخطوط الجوية ضمن الساعات الدراسية المعتمدة، وهي: جامعة فيرجينيا كومونويلث، وجامعة نورث ويسترن، وجامعة قطر، وجامعة ستيندن، وجامعة كولارادو (الولايات المتحدة)، وجامعة ولاية أريزونا (الولايات المتحدة)، وجامعة يوتاه (الولايات المتحدة)، وجامعة هيدرزفيلد (المملكة المتحدة)، وجامعة ليدز بيكيت (المملكة المتحدة).
