Over 7,500 people from Asian communities to benefit from QC’s Iftar program ‘Baraha’

DOHA: Qatar Charity hosted various expatriate community on mass Iftar programme at Al Arabi Sports Club and Qatar Sports Club under its ‘Baraha’ program, to benefit more than 7,500 people from different Asian communities.

Iftar tables have so far been organized for Sri Lankan, Pilipino, Bangladeshi, Pakistani (Urdu speaking), and Indonesian communities, benefiting, 1250, 500, 1000, 1000, and 500 people respectively, whereas other tables will be implemented within the next few days as part of Baraha Program, said a release

For the fifth consecutive year, Qatar Charity (QC) is implementing its ‘Baraha’ program, to benefit more than 7,500 people from different Asian communities living in Qatar with the aim of supporting and strengthening the spirit of diversity, dialogue and interaction, especially in the holy month of Ramadan.

Baraha Program includes collective Iftar tables for different Asian Muslim communities residing in Qatar. Also, awareness, cultural and entertainment activities are organized by the Friends Cultural Center, a Qatar Charity Center For Community Development, in coordination with clubs and forums of these communities.

The communities benefiting from the program include Sri Lankan, Filipino, Indonesian, Bangladeshi, Nepali, Pakistani (speaking Urdu) and Indian (speaking Malayalam) communities in addition to the Tunisian community.

The Director of Projects and Centers at QC’s Executive Management of Local Operations, Fareed Khaleel Al Siddieqy said Baraha Program is aimed at making people aware of Islamic values, strengthening the spirit of faith and promoting the values of solidarity and exchange among members of communities, especially in the holy month of Ramadan.

Al Siddieqy added that the program also is aimed at enhancing societal cohesion, intercommunity co-operation and partnership and solidifying and expanding the array of opportunities of cultural interaction for different Asian communities residing in Qatar, noting the positive impact of this annual Ramadan program that includes social, cultural, recreational and awareness activities.

حرصاً منها على تعزيز روح التواصل بين أبناء الجاليات المقيمة في قطر، خصوصاً في شهر رمضان المبارك، تقوم «قطر الخيرية» للعام الخامس على التوالي بتنفيذ برنامجها الرمضاني «براحة الجاليات»، الذي يستفيد منه أكثر من 7500 شخص من أبناء وأسر الجاليات.

ويشتمل برنامج البراحة على موائد إفطار جماعية لأبناء وأسر الجاليات المسلمة المقيمة في قطر، إضافة إلى فعاليات توعوية وثقافية وترفيهية مصاحبة تتم إقامتها من قبل مركز قطر الخيري لتنمية المجتمع جاليات (الأصدقاء الثقافي) بالتنسيق مع الجاليات. وتشمل الجاليات المستفيدة من برنامج براحة الجاليات: الجالية السريلانكية، والفلبينية، والإندونيسية، والبنغالية، والنيبالية، والباكستانية (الأوردية)، والجالية الهندية (المليبارية)، إضافة إلى الجالية التونسية.

وبهذه المناسبة، قال السيد فريد صديقي، مدير إدارة المشاريع والبرامج في الإدارة التنفيذية للتنمية المحلية بـ «قطر الخيرية»: إن برنامج براحة الجاليات يهدف إلى توعية الحضور بالقيم الإسلامية، وتعزيز الروح الإيمانية، وقيم التكافل والتواصل فيما بين أبناء الجاليات، خصوصاً في شهر رمضان المبارك، وتعزيز التماسك المجتمعي داخل دولة قطر، وترسيخ التفاعل الثقافي بين أبناء الجاليات الآسيوية المقيمة في قطر. ونوّه بالأثر الإيجابي لهذا البرنامج الرمضاني السنوي، وما يصاحبه من فعاليات ثقافية وترفيهية، كما توجه بالشكر الجزيل إلى الجهات التي تستضيف هذه الموائد في مقارها، للمساهمة في إنجاز هذا المشروع، ومن هذه الجهات: النادي العربي الرياضي، ونادي قطر الرياضي.

وتم حتى الآن في إطار تنفيذ هذا المشروع إقامة مائدة الجالية السريلانكية، واستفاد منها 1250 شخصاً، ومائدة الجالية الفلبينية، واستفاد منها 500 شخص، ومائدة الجالية البنغالية، واستفاد منها 1000 شخص، ومائدة الجالية الأردية، واستفاد منها 1000 شخص، ومائدة الجالية الإندونيسية، واستفاد منها 500 شخص، فيما يتم تنفيذ موائد أخرى في إطار المشروع خلال الأيام القليلة المقبلة.
