Amir gives directive to send aid to Kenya

DOHA: Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani directed that aid be sent to those affected by the flood caused by a dam collapse in Nakuru, west of the Republic of Kenya.
The standing committee on rescue, relief and humanitarian aid in affected areas in fraternal and friendly states, which is led by Lekhwiya, took charge of providing the relief aid.
A Qatari aid plane bound for Nairobi airport in the Republic of Kenya carried a team from Lekhwiya’s Qatari International Search and Rescue team along with 31 tons of foodstuff, medical equipment and tents, with coordination carried out with relevant authorities in Kenya to deliver them to those affected.
The flood caused by the dam collapse in Nakuru left behind at least 47 people killed, 450 homes destructed in the surrounding areas, more than 2,500 people injured and more than 2,000 others displaced.
وجه حضرة صاحب السمو الشيخ تميم بن حمد آل ثاني أمير البلاد المفدى، بإرسال مساعدات لمتضرري الفيضان الذي خلفه انهيار سد في مقاطعة ناكورو بغرب جمهورية كينيا.
وقد تولت اللجنة الدائمة لأعمال الإنقاذ والإغاثة والمساعدات الإنسانية في المناطق المنكوبة بالدول الشقيقة والصديقة التي تترأسها (لخويا)، مهمة توفير مواد الإغاثة، حيث حملت طائرة مساعدات قطرية متوجهة إلى مطار نيروبي بجمهورية كينيا، على متنها فريق من مجموعة البحث والإنقاذ القطرية الدولية “لخويا”، 31 طناً من المواد الغذائية والطبية والخيام، بالإضافة إلى التنسيق مع الجهات المعنية في كينيا لتوصيلها إلى المتضررين.
يذكر أن الفيضان الذي خلفه انهيار السد الواقع في مقاطعة ناكورو الكينية نتج عنه وفاة 47 شخصا على الأقل، وتدمير 450 منزلا بالمناطق المحيطة، وإصابة أكثر من 2500 شخص، وتشريد أكثر من 2000 آخرين.
