Bill Gates unveils ten technical breakthroughs that will change the world in 2019

For the first time in its 18-year history, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s MIT Technology Review allows a contributing editor to list this year for technical breakthroughs, here the founder of Microsoft and its former CEO, Bill Gates.

Gates correctly predicted the renaissance of the home computer, the graphical desktop operating system, and the Internet, so it seemed a natural choice to be the first guest editor of this prestigious magazine.

Every year, MIT Technology Review reviews where you feel that technical developments will have a huge impact on your life over the next year.

The full list of technical breakthroughs for 2019, as presented by Bill Gates, will be published in full in the next edition of 5 March 2019.

1- The versatility of the robot: Robotic hands can learn how to deal with unfamiliar things on their own.

2. New wave of nuclear energy: New designs for both nuclear fission and fusion reactors can help reduce carbon emissions.

3. Premature Prediction: A simple blood test to warn against premature birth, which may save the lives of many children.

4 – probe gastrointestinal tract in a pill: a device that can swallow can photograph the digestive system and even take biopsies.

5- Customized Cancer Vaccines: A treatment that uses the immune system in the body to target only malignant cells.

Beef-free burgers: Meat substitutes can significantly reduce emissions from the food industry.

7. Carbon dioxide capture: Carbon dioxide absorption and sequestration techniques may eventually become economic.

8. Heart outline on your wrist: The ability of people with heart disease to constantly monitor their health and get early warnings of problems.

9. Sewage without sewage networks: A stand-alone toilet that does not require water, turns human waste into compost, and can cure diseases and poor living conditions in many developing countries.

10. Intelligent digital-language aids: new developments in natural language processing will make digital assistance systems able to act more independently.

للمرة الأولى في تاريخها الذي يمتد 18 عاما، تتيح مجلة معهد ماساتشوستس للتنقية “أم.آي.تي تكنولوجي ريفيو” لمحرر مساهم أن يضع قائمة هذا العام للاختراقات التقنية، وهو هنا مؤسس شركة مايكروسوفت ورئيسها التنفيذي السابق بيل غيتس.

لقد تنبأ غيتس بشكل صحيح بنهضة الحاسوب المنزلي، ونظام تشغيل سطح المكتب الرسومي، وشبكة الإنترنت، لذلك بدا كأنه خيار طبيعي أن يكون المحرر الضيف الأول لهذه المجلة العريقة.

1- براعة الروبوت: أيادٍ روبوتية يمكن أن تتعلم كيفية التعامل مع أشياء غير مألوفة من تلقاء نفسها.

2- موجة جديدة من الطاقة النووية: تصاميم جديدة لمفاعلات كل من الانشطار والانصهار النوويين يمكن أن تساعد في خفض انبعاثات الكربون.

3- التنبؤ بالخدج: اختبار دم بسيط للتحذير من الولادة قبل الأوان، مما قد ينقذ حياة العديد من الأطفال.

4- مسبار القناة الهضمية في حبة دواء: جهاز يمكن ابتلاعه يستطيع تصوير الجهاز الهضمي وحتى أخذ الخزعات.

5- لقاحات السرطان المخصصة: علاج يستخدم جهاز المناعة في الجسم لاستهداف الخلايا الخبيثة فقط.

6- البرغر الخالي من لحم البقر: بدائل للحوم يمكن أن تخفض بشكل كبير الانبعاثات الناجمة عن صناعة الأغذية.

7- صائد لغاز ثاني أكسيد الكربون: تقنيات امتصاص ثاني أكسيد الكربون من الهواء وحجزه قد تصبح اقتصادية أخيرا.

8- مخطط للقلب على معصمك: مقدرة الأشخاص الذين يعانون من أمراض القلب على مراقبة صحتهم باستمرار والحصول على تحذيرات مبكرة من المشاكل.

9- صرف صحي بدون شبكات صرف صحي: مرحاض قائم بذاته لا يحتاج إلى ماء ويحول الفضلات البشرية إلى سماد، كما يمكنه معالجة الأمراض والظروف المعيشية السيئة في كثير من دول العالم النامي.

10- مساعدات رقمية ذكية طليقة اللسان: تطورات جديدة في معالجة اللغة الطبيعية ستجعل أنظمة المساعدة الرقمية قادرة على التصرف باستقلالية أكبر.
