‘Art Trail’ back with 3 new locations

DOHA: Qatar Foundation (QF) has launched its latest edition of ‘Art Trail’ – a series of guided tours providing the public with an opportunity to explore artwork around Education City.

‘Art Trail’ offers visitors an insight into regional identity and local artwork, engaging audiences of all ages and promoting artistic appreciation throughout the community in Qatar, as part of QF’s community development efforts.

The first two tours under the initiative’s latest edition have taken guests on a journey through the works of Moroccan artist Younès Rahmoun, whose exhibition ‘Little Worlds, Complex Structures’ has been displayed in the gallery of Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts in Qatar, a QF partner university.

Upcoming ‘Art Trail’ tours will, for the first time, take in QF member Sidra Medicine’s art collection, and Qatar National Library’s Heritage Library Exhibition, while the new additions to Art Trail also include the work of emerging Doha-based artist Othman Khunji.

His solo exhibition ‘Deconstructing the Sacred’, which is being presented at the Education City Mosque, explores the creative and often complex links between religion, culture, and social justice.

Machaille Al Naimi, President of Community Development, QF, said, “We are pleased to have launched another series of our ‘Art Trail’ guided tours, building on the success of previous editions of this initiative and the interest it has generated among the community in Qatar.

“Qatar Foundation is a hub of arts and culture, recognising how these cornerstones of regional identity can provoke thought and be a catalyst for creativity, and we are proud to welcome people to explore the unique exhibits housed within Education City through an initiative that represents a wonderful opportunity for social interaction and engagement.”

“This year’s ‘Art Trail’ tours feature exhibits by homegrown and international artists in venues that are landmarks for Qatar across a diverse range of fields. We hope that the tours will inspire the imagination of Qatar’s community, encouraging people to connect with art and appreciate its relevance to our lives,” she added.

Education City is home to an array of opportunities, activities, and institutions dedicated to enhancing Qatar’s artistic and cultural environment.

‘Art Trail’ not only serves as a channel for local and international artists to display their work to the community but enables the public to experience firsthand the creativity and uniqueness of Qatar Foundation’s art collection, which represents a significant contribution to the contemporary art world.

Upcoming tours will take place today October 6, and 27. There will also be tours in November.

أطلقت مؤسسة قطر للتربية والعلوم وتنمية المجتمع، الموسم الجديد من «درب الفن»، في إطار سلسلة من الجولات المصحوبة بعدد من المرشدين، والتي توفر لأفراد المجتمع فرصة التعرّف على الأعمال الفنية الموجودة في حرم المدينة التعليمية.

يوفر معرض «درب الفن» للزوار، على اختلاف أعمارهم واهتماماتهم، فرصة الاستمتاع بالإنجازات الفنية الملهمة، ويقدم لهم نظرة ثاقبة عن الهوية الثقافية المحلية، لتعزيز المعارف المجتمعية في مجال تقدير الفن، كجزء من جهود مؤسسة قطر المستمرة في تنمية المجتمع عبر مبادراتها التنموية والمجتمعية.

ولأول مرة تقام جولات «درب الفن» المرتقبة في كل من مركز سدرة للطب، عضو مؤسسة قطر، وفي معرض المكتبة التراثية في مكتبة قطر الوطنية، كما يشمل «درب الفن» هذا العام أعمال الفنان الناشئ عثمان خنجي، الذي يشارك بمعرضه المنفرد في جامع المدينة التعليمية، تحت عنوان «أنا والمقدس»، والذي يعرض الروابط الإبداعية والمتشابكة في كثير من الأحيان بين الدين والثقافة والعدالة الاجتماعية.

وقد تعرّف الزائرون خلال الجولتين الأولى والثانية من سلسلة «درب الفن» على أعمال الفنان المغربي يونس رحمون، الذي عرض أعماله تحت عنوان «عوالم صغيرة، هياكل معقدة»، في معرض جامعة فرجينيا كومنولث كلية فنون التصميم في قطر، إحدى الجامعات الشريكة لمؤسسة قطر.

وقالت السيدة مشاعل النعيمي، رئيس تنمية المجتمع في مؤسسة قطر: «بناءً على النجاح الكبير الذي حققته الجولات السابقة، يسرنا إطلاق سلسلة جديدة من جولات درب الفن، التي حازت على اهتمام كبير لدى المجتمع المحلي»، لافتة إلى أن مؤسسة قطر تستمد من المجتمع القطري الإلهام والاعتزاز بتراثنا وبقيمنا، وتسعى من خلال مختلف مبادراتها إلى تعزيز الهوية الثقافية الوطنية التي تشجع الفنانين على الإبداع وتحفزّهم على الابتكار.

وأضافت: «تمثل هذه الجولات فرصة رائعة للتفاعل والمشاركة المجتمعية، ويسعدنا تقديم دعوة عامة للجميع لاستكشاف المعارض الفريدة الموجودة داخل المدينة التعليمية، حيث تحتضن جولات «درب الفن» هذا العام مجموعة متميزة من الأعمال الفنية لفنانين محليين وعالميين، تعكس أهم معالم دولة قطر في المجالات كافة».

وأعربت النعيمي عن أملها في أن يستمد المجتمع إلهامه من هذه الجولات الفنية، وأن يتشجع الأفراد على مواصلة التعرف على الفنون وتقدير أهميتها في حياتنا.

وتحتضن المدينة التعليمية مجموعة واسعة من المراكز والبرامج المخصصة، لتعزيز البيئة الفنية والثقافية في قطر.

ولا يعتبر «درب الفن» موقعاً لعرض أعمال الفنانين المحليين والدوليين فحسب، بل يمكّن الجمهور من خوض تجربة الابتكار والإبداع، عبر مشاهدة المجموعات الفنية الموجودة داخل مؤسسة قطر، والتي تعدّ مساهمة كبيرة في عالم الفن المعاصر.

تجدر الإشارة إلى أن الجولات القادمة من «درب الفن» تقام أيام 2 و6 و27 أكتوبر الحالي، كما سيتم عقد جولتين جديدتين الشهر المقبل.;
