Qatar tops global Internet speed index

Qatar topped the Global Internet Speed Index of 139 countries around the world. Qatar ranked first in the Arab world and second in the world after south Korea, with Doha jumping 24 spots from last year’s ranking at 26th in the world. The “Speed test global index” published a report in which it revealed the Internet Speed Index for April this year, and came in the top ten in the report after Seoul and Doha, China ranked third and then the UAE in fourth place, followed by the Netherlands and Canada, then Bulgaria and Norway as well as Australia and Saudi Arabia, while the last four ranked Rwanda, Sudan, Venezuela and Afghanistan, while Singapore which ranked 1^st last year came in 13th place and Hong Kong which was the runner-up to 15th place.

The ranking reflects the significant growth witnessed by Qatar’s telecommunications sector during the last phase, which led the Arab leadership ahead of the UAE and Saudi Arabia, as well as Lebanon, ranked 27th in this year’s rankings, Kuwait ranked 37th internationally, Bahrain ranked 41st, Oman 45th, Morocco and Tunisia ranked 59th and 74th, respectively, with Syria ranked 83rd, Jordan 87th, Egypt 95th, Iraq ranked 131^st

The Internet Speeds Index for the current year predicted that Qatar will continue to move forward in the upcoming rankings, with a strong focus on developing the communication sector and reaching it to the greatest possible point, especially in the period leading up to Qatar’s organization of the 2022 World Cup, which will see millions of visitors to Doha, which calls for the provision of high-quality and high-speed Internet services, which enhances Qatar’s technical position, where Qatar has already been ranked first in the Arab world and 26th in the Technology Power Index published in  Global Finance Magazine, which measures the 67 most advanced countries in the telecommunications and technology sector around the world, is 3.21 points ahead of 41 major countries around the world, underscoring Qatar’s success in its technological development and strengthening the communication and information technology sector.

تصدرت دولة قطر مؤشر سرعات الإنترنت العالمي الذي يصنف 139 دولة حول العالم. وجاءت قطر في الترتيب الأول عربيا والثانية عالميا بعد كوريا الجنوبية صاحبة المرتبة الأولى، لتقفز الدوحة بذلك بـ 24 مرتبة كاملة من تصنيفها العام الماضي عند المرتبة 26 عالميا. ونشر موقع ” Speed test global index ” تقريرا كشف فيه عن مؤشر سرعات الإنترنت الخاص بشهر أبريل من العام الجاري، وجاء في العشر المراتب الأولى في التقرير بعد كل من سيول والدوحة، الصين صاحبة المرتبة الثالثة ومن بعدها الإمارات في المرتبة الرابعة، تليها كل من هولندا وكندا، ومن ثم بلغاريا والنرويج بالإضافة إلى أستراليا والسعودية، في حين احتلت الأربع مراتب الأخيرة رواندا والسودان، وفنزويلا وأفغانستان، في حين تراجعت سنغافورة رائدة التصنيف في العام الماضي إلى المركز الثالث عشر وهونغ كونغ الوصيفة إلى المرتية الخامسة عشرة.

ويعكس الترتيب النمو الكبير الذي شهده قطاع الاتصالات في قطر خلال المرحلة الأخيرة، ما جعله يحتل الريادة العربية متقدما على كل من الإمارات والسعودية، بالإضافة إلى لبنان صاحبة المرتبة 27 في تصنيفات العام الجاري، والكويت صاحبة المرتبة 37 دوليا، وكذلك البحرين صاحبة المرتبة 41 وسلطنة عمان صاحبة المرتبة 45 وكذا المغرب وتونس المرتبة 59 و74 على التوالي، زد إليها سوريا صاحبة المرتبة 83 والأردن صاحبة المرتبة 87 ومصر صاحبة المرتبة 95، والعراق التي جاءت في المرتبة 131، وتوقع مؤشر سرعات الإنترنت للسنة الجارية مواصلة قطر السير إلى الأمام في التصنيفات المقبلة، في ظل التركيز الكبير على تطوير قطاع الاتصال والوصول به إلى أبعد نقطة ممكنة، وبالذات الفترة التي تسبق تنظيم قطر لكأس العالم 2022، التي ستشهد حضور ملايين الزائرين إلى الدوحة مما يستدعي تقديم خدمات انترنت عالية الجودة وفائقة السرعة، ويعزز هذا التصنيف مكانة قطر التقنية، حيث سبق وأن حصلت دولة قطر على المرتبة الأولى عربيًا والـ 26 عالميًا في مؤشر القوة التكنولوجية الصادر عن مجلة “غلوبال فاينانس العالمية” الذي يقيس أكثر الدول تقدمًا في قطاع الاتصالات والتكنولوجيا والبالغ عددها 67 دولة حول العالم، مسجلةً 3.21 نقطة ومتفوقة على 41 دولة كبرى حول العالم مما يؤكد نجاح دولة قطر في تطورها التكنولوجي وتعزيز قطاع الاتصالات وتكنولوجيا المعلومات.
