Qatar begins using Plasma in the treatment of (Covid-19) patients

Dr. Abdullatif Al-Khal, chairman of the Ministry of Health’s National Strategic Committee for The Response to Coronavirus, announced that Qatar has decided to start using plasma to treat people in serious cases of Coronavirus (Covid-19).
Dr. Al-Khal said in a telephone interview with Al-Rayyan TV program yesterday: There are many studies that are being conducted on patients at The present time in many countries such as the United States and many countries in Europe and Asia to confirm the effectiveness of this type of treatment, and explained that the antibodies produced by a person who has recovered from the infection of the coronavirus may be useful, If given to people with severe infection, they may save their lives and help them recover, stressing that so far there are no studies that have proven the success of this hypothesis, except for some limited trials and clinical practical experiences, in addition to some small studies that were temporarily published and were carried out on 10 patients and trials have shown that when plasma was given to these patients with severe conditions of coronavirus, they began to show signs of improvement within 3 days of infection but were not compared to another limited group of patients who were not given the vaccine.
Plasma has shown limited success when used in the treatment of other diseases related to certain viruses in the past, including SARS in 2002-2003 and the swine flu virus that emerged in 2009, he said.

أعلن د. عبداللطيف الخال رئيس اللجنة الوطنية الاستراتيجية للتصدي لفيروس كورونا التابعة لوزارة الصحة أن قطر قررت البدء في استخدام البلازما في علاج أصحاب الحالات الخطرة المصابة بفيروس كوفيد 19 كورونا.
وقال د. الخال في مداخلة هاتفية مع برنامج تراحيب على قناة الريان أمس: إن هناك العديد من الدراسات التي تُجرى على المرضى في الوقت الحاضر في العديد من البلدان مثل الولايات المتحدة والعديد من الدول في أوروبا وآسيا للتأكد من فعاليات هذا النوع من العلاج، وأوضح أن الأجسام المضادة التي يفرزها الإنسان الذي تعافى من الإصابة بفيروس كورونا قد تكون مفيدة، إذا تم إعطاؤها للأشخاص المصابين إصابة شديدة بالفيروس قد تودي بحياتهم، فتساعدهم على التعافي، مؤكداً أنه حتى الآن لا توجد دراسات أثبتت نجاح هذه الفرضية من عدمه، باستثناء بعض التجارب المحدودة والخبرات العملية الإكلينيكية،ىالإضافة إلى بعض الدراسات الصغيرة التي تم نشرها مؤقتا وتمت على 10 مرضى وقد بينت التجارب إنه عندما تم إعطاء البلازما لهؤلاء المرضى المصابين إصابة شديدة بفيروس كورونا فقد بدأت تظهر عليهم علامات التحسن خلال 3أيام من الإصابة غير أنه لم يتم مقارنتهم بمجموعة أخرى محدودة من المرضى لم يتم إعطاؤهم هذا المصل.
ولفت إلى أن البلازما أبتت نجاحًا محدودًا عند استخدامها في علاج أمراض أخرى تتعلق ببعض الفيروسات في السابق ومنها فيروس سارس في عام 2002 – 2003 و فيروس إنفلونزا الخنازير الذي ظهر في عام 2009.
