Chinese vaccine for Coronavirus is entering critical testing phase

The world continues to mobilize its forces and scientists to deter the new Coronavirus (Covid-19), and to find an effective vaccine to eliminate the epidemic, amid cautious optimism about the decline in infections and deaths in some of the countries where the virus has spread.
China Daily revealed that Chinese scientists have begun the second phase of clinical trials of a vaccine under development, after the success of the first phase.
In the United States, director of the National Institute of Infectious Diseases Anthony Fauchi said that it will be possible to restart activity in the country gradually, starting next May, explaining that the main indicators of the spread of the virus “have not only stabilized, but are beginning to decline”, expressing “cautious optimism”.
In Spain, the death toll fell yesterday, with 517 deaths counted, the lowest since March 20th, bringing the total death toll to 17,489, the highest in Europe after Italy.
In Iran, the authorities yesterday announced 111 deaths from the virus within 24 hours, citing a “steady decline” in new infections.
In the Arab world, Kuwait announced the end of the quarantine period for 746 people and announced 66 new infections, bringing the total number of cases to 1,300.
Oman recorded 128 new cases, bringing the total to 727, and authorities announced the recovery of 15, bringing the number of recovered to 124.
Saudi Arabia announced 472 new cases, bringing the total number of cases to 4,934, and the recovery of 44 infected people, bringing the number of recovered to 805 and the death of 6 cases, bringing the death toll to 65.
In the UAE, authorities announced the recovery of 172 cases, bringing the number of recovered to 852 and the death of three, bringing the death toll to 25.
Bahrain yesterday reported no deaths, with 212 new cases reported, bringing the total to 1,299, according to the Ministry of Health.
On the other hand, the Spokesman for the Palestinian Government announced that one new infection of the Coronavirus had been reported, bringing the number of cases to 308, including those infected in Jerusalem.

يواصل العالم حشد قواته وعلماءه من أجل ردع فيروس كورونا المستجد (كوفيد – 19)، والتوصل إلى لقاح فعّال يقضي على الوباء، وذلك وسط تفاؤل حذر بتراجع الإصابات والوفيات في بعض الدول التي تفشى فيها الفيروس.
وكشفت صحيفة «تشاينا ديلي» عن بدء علماء صينيين المرحلة الثانية من التجارب السريرية على لقاح قيد التطوير، بعد نجاح المرحلة الأولى.
وفي الولايات المتحدة، رأى مدير المعهد الوطني للأمراض المعدية أنتوني فاوتشي، أنه سيكون بالإمكان إعادة تحريك النشاط في البلاد تدريجياً، اعتباراً من مايو، المقبل، موضحاً أن المؤشرات الرئيسية لانتشار الفيروس «لم تستقر فحسب، بل بدأت تتراجع»، مبدياً «تفاؤلاً حذراً».
وفي إسبانيا، سجلت حصيلة الوفيات تراجعاً، أمس، مع إحصاء 517 وفاة، وهو أدنى عدد منذ 20 مارس، مما يرفع الحصيلة الإجمالية للوفيات إلى 17.489، وهي الأعلى في أوروبا بعد حصيلة إيطاليا.
وفي إيران، أعلنت السلطات، أمس، عن 111 وفاة جراء الفيروس، خلال 24 ساعة، مشيرة إلى «تراجع منتظم» في الإصابات الجديدة.
وعربياً، أعلنت الكويت انتهاء فترة الحجر الصحي لعدد 746 شخصاً، كما أعلنت تسجيل 66 إصابة جديدة، ليرتفع إجمالي الإصابات إلى 1300.
وسجلت سلطنة عمان 128 إصابة جديدة، ليرتفع إجمالي الإصابات إلى 727، وأعلنت السلطات عن شفاء 15 مصاباً، ليرتفع عدد المتعافين إلى 124.
وأعلنت السعودية، تسجيل 472 إصابة جديدة، ليرتفع إجمالي الإصابات إلى 4934، وشفاء 44 مصاباً، ليرتفع عدد المتعافين إلى 805، ووفاة ستة مصابين، ليرتفع عدد الوفيات إلى 65.
وفي الإمارات، أعلنت السلطات شفاء 172 مصاباً، ليرتفع عدد المتعافين إلى 852، ووفاة ثلاثة مصابين، ليرتفع عدد الوفيات إلى 25.
ولم تسجل البحرين، أمس، وفيات، مكتفية بإعلان 212 إصابة جديدة، ليبلغ الإجمالي 1299، وفق وزارة الصحة.
على جانب آخر، أعلن المتحدث باسم الحكومة الفلسطينية، تسجيل إصابة جديدة واحدة بفيروس كورونا، ليرتفع عدد الإصابات إلى 308، بينهم المصابون في القدس.
