QU to host CSR exhibition in March

Qatar University (QU) will host the seventh edition and the third exhibition of Qatar Corporate Social Responsibility in March 2019, under the patronage of HE the Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani.

The event is themed “volunteering”, in addition to producing a special report titled ‘The 21st Century Initiative for Qatar 2022: Qatar’s Mission for Peace through Sport.’

The report will be published in the first quarter of 2019 as part of QU’s partnership with Qatar CSR Network.

“QU is proud to work under the “volunteering” theme in harmony with the international standards of volunteering in preparation for the coming 2022 FIFA World Cup,” QU president Dr Hassan bin Rashid al-Derham said.

“QU plays a major role in voluntary work programmes that support community participation in the national strategies and programme, especially Qatar’s National Vision (QNV) 2030, and contribute to national initiatives through providing volunteers from the university students to enhance their abilities in various fields and their commitment to social issues,” he noted.

“Volunteering services integrated into academic curricula and courses promote positive impact of lifelong giving,” Dr al-Derham added.

“As volunteering is growing steadily at the national level, we are determined to expand relevant programmes and provide opportunities for innovative networking with volunteer groups to engage students in government and private sector experiences,” he said.

Qatar CSR network chief executive officer Khalifa al-Mohannadi said the previous seasons of the CSR report and exhibition have confirmed the strong interrelationship between community issues and the ability to share knowledge in Qatar.

“We believe that the coming edition is able to prove volunteering as a positive method for building national human capacity and social involvement. Voluntary work is an important part of the Sustainable Development strategy of QNV 2030,” he noted.

Volunteering is recognised as an effective means of imparting skills and understanding between different cultures, according to al-Mohannadi.

Dr Bader Abdullh al-Esmael, head of CSR committee at QU, said volunteering is a tool for community and youth development. “The CSR report and exhibition provide significant opportunities to engage diverse sectors of the society, given that the good support provided to volunteers has a direct impact on their effectiveness and productivity.”

“QU CSR Committee is keen to design, implement and share excellent practices and training programmes in this area,” al-Esmael said.

The report is published by Qatar CSR Network at Qatar University in partnership with Qatar Media Corporation and Qatar Post, and sponsored by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (distribution partner to Qatar embassies around the world).

The report achieved an unsurpassed success to become the annual national CSR book, with the contribution of ministers, ambassadors and leading figures, and sponsored by the major institutions. The report also gives the CSR Person of the Year Award.

تحت رعاية معالي الشيخ عبدالله بن ناصر بن خليفة آل ثاني رئيس مجلس الوزراء وزير الداخلية، تستضيف جامعة قطر حفل إطلاق التقرير السابع والمعرض الثالث للمسؤولية الاجتماعية والعمل التطوعي، تحت عنوان: «مبادرة القرن 21 لقطر 2022- رسالة قطر لإرساء السلام من خلال الرياضة»، في مارس من العام المقبل، وذلك في إطار شراكتها مع شبكة قطر للمسؤولية الاجتماعية.

وقال الدكتور حسن بن راشد الدرهم رئيس جامعة قطر: «تفخر جامعة قطر بأن تحمل هذه الدورة عنوان: «العمل التطوعي»، وتقديم محاكاة لمعاييره العالمية استعداداً للمونديال. وتؤدي جامعة قطر دوراً كبيراً في برامج العمل التطوعي، بما من شأنه ترسيخ المشاركة المجتمعية في الاستراتيجيات والبرامج الوطنية، لا سيما رؤية قطر 2030. وتُساهم في مبادرات يعمل فيها متطوعون من الجامعة لتعزيز قدرتهم على المساهمة في الإنجازات التي تتحقق في مختلف المجالات والقضايا الاجتماعية».

وقال السيد خليفة المهندي، الرئيس التنفيذي لشبكة قطر للمسؤولية الاجتماعية: «لقد أكّدَت المواسم السابقة لتقرير ومعرض المسؤولية الاجتماعية؛ متانة الترابط بين القضايا المجتمعية والقدرة على تبادل المعارف والفعاليات في قطر. وإننا نؤمن بقدرة الدورة المقبلة على جعل العمل التطوعي مثالاً لبناء القدرات البشرية الوطنية والإدماج الاجتماعي. وبالتالي، فإنَّ العمل التطوعي يمثل مصدراً لا يقدر بثمن من أجل خطة التنمية المستدامة لرؤية قطر 2030».

وأضاف: «يحظى العمل التطوعي بالتقدير باعتباره وسيلة فعالة لنقل المهارات وللتفاهم بين مختلف الثقافات. كما يتيح العمل التطوعي فرصاً قيّمة أمام الشباب للعمل وإبداء روح القيادة؛ للمساهمة في إقامة مجتمع سليم، ويمكّن الشباب أيضاً من اكتساب المهارات، وبناء قدراتهم، وتعزيز قابلية توظيفهم، من خلال تبادل المعلومات، وتوليد الممارسات الجيدة، وتشجيع البحوث، وتعزيز التعاون عبر قطاعات العمل التطوعي، والتنمية على الصعيد الوطني».

وقال الدكتور بدر عبدالله الإسماعيل، رئيس لجنة المسؤولية الاجتماعية بجامعة قطر: «يعتبر العمل التطوعي أداة لتطوير المجتمع المحلي والشباب. ويوفر معرض وتقرير المسؤولية الاجتماعية بجامعة قطر؛ فرصاً كبيرة لإشراك قطاعات متنوعة من المجتمع، وذلك انطلاقاً من كون الدعم الجيد المقدم للمتطوعين يؤثر من حيث الإدارة والتدريب تأثيراً مباشراً على فعاليتهم وإنتاجيتهم؛ لذلك تحرص اللجنة على تصميم ممارسات ومواد الإدارة، والتدريب في هذا المجال، وتطبيقها وتبادلها».;
