Ashghal Announces Completion of Upgrading Works on Al Sadd Intersection, Al Sadd, Jawaan Streets

Doha: The Public Works Authority ‘Ashghal’ announced the completion of upgrading works on Al Sadd Intersection and Al Sadd and Jawaan streets in Al Sadd Area, as part of the Road Improvement Works in Various Areas of Greater Doha (Phase 9).
Eng. Ali Sami Jamal, Project Engineer at Doha City Projects Section in the Roads Projects Department at Ashghal, highlighted the importance of upgrading Al Sadd Intersection as well as Al Sadd and Jawaan Streets as they are located in a congested and highly frequented area that serve many service facilities, shops, commercial centres, and educational and health institutions.
Eng. Jamal pointed out that the Authority was keen to expedite the work progress and opened the main lanes of Al Sadd and Jawaan Streets and Al Sadd Intersection to improve traffic flow, while the rest of the works are carried out to enhance traffic safety on the roads and landscaping and beautification works.
Project works included the upgrade of Al Sadd intersection and its infrastructure utilities, in addition to upgrading the roads adjacent to this intersection such as Al Sadd Street and Jawaan Street at a total length of 3.2 Km. The traffic signal at Al Sadd intersection was also upgraded, in addition to providing pedestrian and cycle lanes with a total length of 6.4 km, providing road markings and directional signs, and upgrading the street lighting system.
In addition, works involved upgrading the 4 km-long stormwater and surface water drainage network, the 1.5 km-long sewage network, and the 1.5 km-long TSE lines, in addition to providing protection for the existing power lines and telecommunications cables, and installing new asphalt layers. Beautification and landscaping works were also implemented alongside both streets and in the median to provide 53,000 square metres of green areas.
In line with Ashghal’s strategy to support local manufacturers and Qatari products and as part of “Ta’heel” initiative, 80% of the materials used in the project were procured from local resources.
The Road Improvement Works in Various Areas of Greater Doha (Phase 9) is part of the Public Works Authority’s plan to improve the efficiency of the existing road network in Doha City to cope with the national economic development and social growth requirements.

الدوحة: انتهت هيئة الأشغال العامة “أشغال” من أعمال تطوير تقاطع السد وشارعي “السد وجوعان” في منطقة السد، ضمن مشروع تحسين الطرق في مناطق عديدة بالدوحة الكبرى – المرحلة التاسعة.
وأشار المهندس علي سامي جمال، مهندس المشروع بإدارة مشروعات الطرق في “أشغال”، إلى أهمية هذه الأعمال؛ كون هذه المنطقة بها كثافة مرورية عالية، وتخدم العديد من المنشآت الخدمية والمحلات والمراكز التجارية، والمؤسسات التعليمية والصحية.
وأكد المهندس جمال أن “أشغال” حرصت على تسريع وتيرة أعمال التطوير بالمشروع، حيث تم فتح المسارات الرئيسية لشارعي السد وجوعان وتقاطع السد؛ من أجل تحسين الانسيابية المرورية، بينما يتم تنفيذ باقي الأعمال لتعزيز السلامة المرورية على الطرق وأعمال التشجير والتجميل.
وأضاف أن أعمال المشروع شملت تطوير تقاطع السد وخدمات البنية التحتية به، إلى جانب تنفيذ أعمال تطوير الطرق المجاورة للتقاطع، مثل شارع السد وشارع جوعان، وذلك بطول إجمالي 3.2 كيلومتر. كما تم تطوير الإشارة الضوئية بتقاطع السد، وإنشاء مسارات مخصصة للمشاة والدراجات الهوائية بطول إجمالي 6.4 كيلومتر، بالإضافة إلى تنفيذ اللوحات الإرشادية، وتطوير أنظمة الإنارة.
وتابع بأن الأعمال المنجزة تضمنت أيضا تطوير خطوط شبكة تصريف مياه الأمطار والمياه السطحية بطول 4 كيلومترات، وشبكات الصرف الصحي بطول 1.5 كيلومتر، وشبكات المياه المعالجة بطول 1.5 كيلومتر، وحماية خطوط التمديدات الخدمية مثل خطوط الاتصالات والكهرباء، كما تم إنشاء طبقات إسفلتية جديدة، وتنفيذ أعمال التشجير والتجميل على جانبي شارعي السد وجوعان، بالإضافة إلى الجزيرة الوسطية لكل منهما، لتوفير 53 ألف متر مربع من المساحات الخضراء.
يذكر أنه تم شراء أكثر من 80 بالمئة من المواد المستخدمة في المشروع من مصادر محلية، في إطار دعم “أشغال” للمنتج والمصنع القطري ضمن مبادرة “تأهيل” التي أطلقتها الهيئة.
ويندرج مشروع تحسين الطرق في مناطق عديدة في الدوحة الكبرى – المرحلة التاسعة، ضمن خطة هيئة الأشغال العامة لتحسين مرافق الخدمات الموجودة، وتطوير شبكة الطرق بمدينة الدوحة، بما يستجيب لمتطلبات النمو الاقتصادي والاجتماعي في البلاد.
