QF, TED Host Second Regional TEDinArabic Event in Jordan

Doha: The pioneering joint initiative of TED and Qatar Foundation (QF), TEDinArabic, which is designed to provide a platform for ideas in the Arabic-speaking world, is organizing its second regional event in Jordan under the slogan ‘Unlocking Potential, Elevating Stories’ on June 4.

QF explained that this event, which will highlight ways to unlock our full potential -human, technological, and natural- to tackle challenges and help shape our shared future, adding that the event will be available online, where three TED speakers will gather to show their views in Arabic with the audience around the world, on ways through which we can access the information, imagination, and innovation we need to tackle pressing challenges in our societies.

This event is the second regional edition of TEDinArabic since the launch of the initiative in 2020, based on the shared belief between QF and TED in the power and importance of ideas.

TEDinArabic is TED’s first initiative in the Arabic language, and its website has registered nearly 2 million visits. The platform’s content has reached more than 16 million individuals and has received more than 36 million views on social media platforms.

The speakers who will be presented at the regional event in Jordan include Emtithal Mahmoud, who dedicates her time to spreading understanding through poetry and advocacy, particularly for the cause of refugees and disadvantaged communities all over the world, and Sheikha Al Jassasi, the first blind Omani to obtain a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Bedfordshire, UK, whose passion for learning has exceeded everyone’s expectations, as well as her own.

The series of the regional TEDinArabic events is held in preparation for the main event, which will be held in March 2023 in Doha, and provide the experience of TED conferences in the Middle East. Through ‘Share Your Ideas With TEDinArabic’ across Arabic-speaking countries, 16 speakers will be selected to introduce innovative and inspiring ideas in Arabic to be presented during this important event.

الدوحة: تُنظّم منصة TED بالعربي، المبادرة الرائدة المشتركة بين مؤسسة قطر وTED، والتي تهدف إلى إثراء الأفكار باللغة العربية، فعاليتها الإقليمية الثانية في الأردن، تحت شعار /بقدراتنا نرتقي بأفكارنا/ وذلك في الرابع من يونيو المقبل.

وأوضحت مؤسسة قطر أن هذه الفعالية التي ستُسلّط الضوء خلالها على كيفية إطلاق العنان بالكامل لإمكاناتنا البشرية والتكنولوجية والطبيعية من أجل مواجهة التحديات العالمية وتشكيل مستقبلنا، ستكون متاحة للمتابعة عبر الإنترنت، حيث ستشهد الفعالية انضمام ثلاثة من متحدثي TED ليُشاركوا وجهات نظرهم باللغة العربية مع الجمهور من حول العالم حول الطرق التي تُمكننا كبشر من الوصول إلى المعلومات والخيال والابتكار الذي نحتاجه لمعالجة التحديات الملحّة في مجتمعاتنا.

وتُشكّل هذه الفعالية النسخة الإقليمية الثانية لمنصة TED بالعربي منذ انطلاق المبادرة في عام 2020 بناءً على الإيمان المشترك بين مؤسسة قطر و TED بقوّة الأفكار وأهميتها.

وتعُد منصة TED بالعربي المبادرة الأولى لـTED باللغة العربية، وقد سجّل موقعها الإلكتروني قرابة 2 مليون زيارة، كما وصل محتوى المنصة لأكثر من 16 مليون فرد، وحظي بأكثر من 36 مليون مشاهدة على منصات التواصل الاجتماعي.

والمتحدثون في الفعالية الإقليمية بالأردن هم: امتثال محمود، التي كرّست وقتها لنشر التفاهم من خلال الشِعر ومناصرة القضايا، لا سيّما قضايا اللاجئين والمجتمعات المحرومة بمختلف أنحاء العالم، وأمير نزار الزعبي، المدير الفني والمؤسس لشركة مسرح /شبر حر/ وخريج برنامج مسرح معهد صندانس؛ وشيخة الجساسي، أوّل عمانية مكفوفة تحصل على درجة الماجستير في إدارة الأعمال من جامعة بيدفوردشير بالمملكة المتحدة، والتي تمتلك شغفًا بالتعلّم فاق توقعات الجميع، بل توقعاتها هي شخصيًا.

وتنعقد سلسلة فعاليات TED بالعربي الإقليمية تمهيدًا لانعقاد الفعالية الرئيسية في مارس 2023 بالدوحة، والتي ستتيح تجربة مؤتمرات TED في الشرق الأوسط، ومن خلال /شارك أفكارك مع TED بالعربي/ عبر الدول الناطقة بالعربية، إذ سيقع الاختيار على 16 متحدثًا ممن سيقدّمون أفكارًا مبتكرة ومُلهمة باللغة العربية لتقديمها في محاضرات TED خلال هذا الحدث الهام.
