QOC chief expresses Qatar’s solidarity with IOC
رئيس اللجنة الأولمبية القطرية يعرب عن تضامن قطر مع اللجنة الأولمبية الدولية
Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) president HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad al-Thani expressed Friday solidarity with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the organisers of the upcoming Olympic Games Tokyo 2020.
HE Sheikh Joaan stressed during a video conference with the IOC resident Dr Thomas Bach and presidents of national Olympic committees and continental Olympic committees, the support of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, to the decision to postpone the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
“His Highness the Amir, the Qatar Olympic Committee and all members of the Qatari community affirm solidarity with the International Olympic Committee and the organisers of the Tokyo Games 2020, and we have no doubt about organising an exceptional edition of the tournament next year.
“This unprecedented pandemic has rocked the whole world, but the International Olympic Movement under the leadership of Dr Thomas Bach has shown great cohesion in the face of this crisis.
“Today we face common challenges and work together to ensure the protection of players, the masses and all members of the Olympic family … the Tokyo 2020 Games are a source of hope for all of us, we look forward to a time when the world goes beyond this crisis and emerges from it more powerful”.
أعرب سعادة الشيخ جوعان بن حمد آل ثاني، رئيس اللجنة الأولمبية القطرية، أمس، عن تضامن اللجنة الأولمبية القطرية مع اللجنة الأولمبية الدولية ومنظمي دورة الألعاب الأولمبية المقبلة «طوكيو 2020». وأعرب سعادة الشيخ جوعان بن حمد آل ثاني، خلال اجتماع عقد بتقنية الفيديو، مع سعادة الدكتور توماس باخ رئيس اللجنة الأولمبية الدولية ورؤساء اللجان الأولمبية الوطنية ورؤساء اللجان الأولمبية القارية، عن دعم حضرة صاحب السمو الشيخ تميم بن حمد آل ثاني أمير البلاد المفدى لقرار تأجيل أولمبياد طوكيو 2020.
وقال سعادته: «يؤكد حضرة صاحب السمو أمير البلاد المفدى واللجنة الأولمبية القطرية وكافة أفراد المجتمع القطري على التضامن مع اللجنة الأولمبية الدولية ومنظمي ألعاب طوكيو 2020، ولا يراودنا أدنى شك في تنظيم نسخة استثنائية من الدورة في العام المقبل»، مضيفاً سعادته أن «هذه الجائحة غير المسبوقة قد هزت العالم أجمع، لكن الحركة الأولمبية الدولية تحت قيادة د. توماس باخ أبدت تماسكاً كبيراً في وجه هذه الأزمة». وتابع سعادة الشيخ جوعان بن حمد آل ثاني قائلاً: «نواجه اليوم تحديات مشتركة ونعمل سوياً من أجل التأكيد على حماية اللاعبين والجماهير وأعضاء الأسرة الأولمبية كافة.. فألعاب طوكيو 2020 هي مبعث أمل لنا جميعاً، متطلعين إلى الوقت الذي يتجاوز فيه العالم هذه الأزمة، ويخرج منها أكثر قوة».
