UN report: China’s concealment of the truth about Coronavirus contributed to the spread of the epidemic

Geneva-Beijing: Independent experts responsible for evaluating the global response to the Covid-19 epidemic crisis concluded that the World Health Organization and Beijing could have moved faster at the start of the “Covid-19” crisis, considering that “the epidemic that was largely hidden contributed to the global spread of the virus.”
In its second report, which is supposed to be presented today, Tuesday, during a meeting of the World Health Organization, the expert committee points out that “by returning to the initial sequence of the first phase of the epidemic, we conclude that it was possible to move faster based on the first indicators.”
In addition, the Chinese company Sinovac BioNTech said yesterday that a clinical trial in Brazil showed that the effectiveness of its vaccine to prevent “Covid-19” increased by about 20 percentage points than usual in a small group of patients who received two doses of the vaccine with a longer time difference.
A Sinovac spokesman said: The protection rate for 1,394 participants who received two doses of the Coronavac vaccine or a placebo vaccine within three weeks was about 70 %.
Last week, Brazilian researchers announced that the overall effectiveness of the vaccine is 50.4 %, based on the results of more than 9,000 volunteers, most of whom received two doses 14 days apart, as determined in the trial system.
The spokesperson said a small number of trial participants received the second dose late for various reasons. He gave no details.
The difference between the two vaccine doses has become a hot topic among scientists, regulators and governments.
The relevant authorities in Britain said that the vaccine from AstraZeneca and the University of Oxford is more effective when the time period between the two doses is longer than the initial estimates.
Britain also decided to allow an extension of the period between the two doses of the vaccines of Pfizer and BioNTech, although the two companies say they have no efficacy data except for a shorter time difference between the two doses.
Sinovac has not yet published the global results of phase III trials of its vaccine, but it has been approved for exceptional use in countries including Brazil, Indonesia and Turkey.

وقد أصبح الفارق بين جرعتي التطعيم باللقاح موضوعًا ساخنًا بين العلماء والهيئات التنظيمية والحكومات.
وقالت السلطات المعنية في بريطانيا إن لقاح شركة «أسترا زينيكا» وجامعة أكسفورد أكثر فاعلية عندما تطول الفترة الزمنية بين الجرعتين عن التقديرات الأولية.
كما قرّرت بريطانيا السماح بإطالة الفترة بين جرعتي لقاح شركتي فايزر وبيونتيك رغم أن الشركتين تقولان إنهما لا تملكان بيانات للفاعلية سوى لفارق زمني أقصر بين الجرعتين.
ولم تنشر سينوفاك حتى الآن النتائج العالمية لتجارب المرحلة الثالثة على لقاحها لكن تمّت المُوافقة على استخدامه بصفة استثنائية في دول من بينها البرازيل وإندونيسيا وتركيا.
