Turkey Eases Covid-19 Restrictions as Infections Decline

Ankara: Turkey has eased its restrictions to confront the Covid-19 pandemic, as it canceled the wearing of masks in closed public places.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced the easing of these restrictions in a televised meeting at the headquarters of the Coronavirus Scientific Advisory Board, which led the efforts to confront the pandemic in the country, within two years, and said that the council would not convene unless extraordinary circumstances emerged.

Erdogan added that the obligation to wear masks in closed places has been completely removed, noting that wearing masks will continue for a period only in public transportation and health institutions until the number of daily cases of corona infection is below a thousand case.

The Turkish President indicated that those over 65 and those who have other health problems will be advised to continue wearing masks.

At the beginning of last March, the Turkish government lifted restrictions on wearing masks in open areas or closed areas with adequate air ventilation, and adhering to social distancing.

The number of Covid-19 cases infection in Turkey has decreased significantly since the beginning of last February, as daily infections decreased to about 2,500 cases in the past days, from about 15,000 at the end of last March.

وأعلن الرئيس التركي رجب طيب أردوغان، تخفيف تلك القيود في اجتماع متلفز بمقر الجمعية العلمية التي قادت جهود مواجهة الجائحة في البلاد، خلال عامين، وقال إن الجمعية لن تنعقد ما لم تظهر ظروف “غير عادية”.

وأضاف أردوغان أن “فرض ارتداء الكمامات في الأماكن المغلقة أزيل بالكامل”، مشيرا إلى أن تطبيق الكمامات سيستمر لفترة فقط في وسائل النقل العام والمؤسسات الصحية حتى يقل عدد حالات الإصابة اليومي بكورونا عن ألف حالة.

ولفت الرئيس التركي إلى أن الذين تجاوزوا 65 عاما، والذين لديهم مشكلات صحية أخرى سينصحون بالاستمرار في ارتداء الكمامات.

وكانت الحكومة التركية رفعت في بداية شهر مارس الماضي، قيود ارتداء الكمامات في المناطق المفتوحة أو المناطق المغلقة ذات التهوية الجوية الكافية والالتزام بالتباعد الاجتماعي.

وشهد عدد حالات الإصابة بكورونا في تركيا انخفاضا منذ مطلع فبراير الماضي بشكل كبير، حيث انخفضت إصابات كوفيد-19 اليومية لنحو 2500 حالة في الأيام الماضية، من حوالي 15 ألفا في نهاية شهر مارس الماضي.
