Ashghal to open 7-km road on Mesaimeer Interchange on Saturday
أشغال تفتح طريقًا بطول ٧ كيلومترات على تقاطع مسيمير يوم السبت

The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) will open the 7-km road linking Doha Expressway and Southern Doha Expressway on Mesaimeer Interchange, to ensure free and direct traffic flow from Mesaieed, Al Wakra and Al Wukair towards Doha, 22 February Street and Al Shamal Road, on Saturday, July 11, 2020.
Ashghal had opened the lanes to Al Wakra in March 2020 and will open the other lanes from Al Wakra to improve traffic in both directions, since the route has 4 to 6 lanes in each direction to allow for 20,000 vehicles per hour in both directions, saving around 70% of travel time.
More importantly, the road will enable a direct link with the Stadiums of Al Janoub, Ras Bu Abboud & Al Thumama as it integrates with other major arteries, running from Umm Besher Interchange on G Ring Road and Southern Doha Expressway, through Al Wetiyyat Interchange on Sabah Al Ahmad Corridor, onto Mesaimeer Interchange along with Doha Expressway, E Ring Road, and Industrial Area Road and Rawdat Al Khail Street
Ashghal will open the right access at Umm Besher Interchange on G Ring Road from from Al Wakra & Al Wukair via southern Doha Expressway, as well as two more accesses at Al Wetiyyat Interchange on Sabah Al Ahmad Corridor from Al Thumama, Air Force Interchange and from Bu Hamour and Mesaimeer towards Mesaimeer Interchange.
The new openings will offer alternative routes and shortcuts, alleviating traffic pressure at Airport Interchange and Airforce Interchange on Airport Street along with Al Thumama Interchange on Najma Street and shifting traffic to Al Wetiyyat Interchange, Mesaimeer Interchange and the roads connected with like Doha Expressway, Rawdat Al Khail Road, Industrial Area Road and E Ring Road.
Hassan Al Ghanim, from the Highway Projects Department, said the new road is a direct link between the south and north of the country, where road users coming from Mesaieed in the north and vice versa can use a direct and free route without light signals to shorten the journey time by about 70%.
Al Ghanim explained that most parts of Mesaimeer Interchange opened to traffic so far, where about 92% of the works on the vital Interchange has been completed, pointing out that there is tunnel to be completed and opened soon so that the whole Interchange is open for traffic.
Traffic Flow
Those arriving from the southern part of Doha Expressway will be able to continue on Umm Besher Interchange on G Ring Road and then use the Al Wetiyyat Interchange on Sabah Al Ahmad Corridor, passing through Mesaimeer Intechange reaching Doha Expressway and 22 February Street. Those arriving from Ras Bu Abboud Street, Al Wakra Road and G Ring Road will be able to turn right at Umm Besher Interchange and then use the Al Wetiyyat Interchange on Sabah Al Ahmad Corridor via Mesaimeer Interchange reaching Doha Expressway and 22 February Street.
Commuters travelling from Hamad International Airport and Al Thumama via Sabah Al Ahmad Corridor will also be able to turn right at the Al Wetiyyat intersection, passing through Mesaimeer Interchange reaching Doha Expressway and 22 February Street.
Road users arriving from Mesaimeer can use the exit loop at Mesaimeer Interchange to reach Nuaija and 22 February Street.
The three-level Mesaimeer Interchange is the first of its kind in Qatar, because it contains nine underpasses providing free flow traffic. The Interchange contains two main bridges connecting Rawdat Al khail street and the Industrial Area Road in both directions, in addition to connecting the E Ring road with the southern part of Doha Expressway in one direction, which will achieve a great flow of traffic in all directions.
The project is of 6.1-km length of construction works, with three to four lanes in each direction to accommodate about 30,000 vehicles per hour in both directions.
The new Interchange will significantly improve traffic, reducing travel time by more than 70%.
Hexagon Interchange
The Mesaimeer Interchange is the first of its kind in Qatar connecting six main roads, namely Mesaimeer Interchange, Doha Expressway, southern part of Doha Expressway, Sabah Al Ahmed Corridor, Industrial Area Road and Rawdat Al Khail Street. The Interchange also provides a vital traffic link between the south, central and north of the country. It links traffic from the south through the southern part of Doha Expressway, main carriageway of Doha Expressway and Al Shamal Road.
It also connects traffic between Industrial area road and the heart of Doha through a connection to Rawdat Al Khail Street, which intersects with D-Ring and C-Ring Road, also between the busy areas of Nuaija, Al Thumama, Bu Hamour, Al Maamoura, Mesaimeer providing an easy access to Al Wakra, Al Wukair and the Industrial area.

أعلنت هيئة الأشغال العامة /أشغال/ عن افتتاح الطريق الرابط بين الجزء الجنوبي من طريق الدوحة السريع والطريق ذاته عبر تقاطع مسيمير بطول 7 كيلومترات، ليوفر تدفقا مروريا حرا ومباشرا من مسيعيد والوكرة والوكير في اتجاه الدوحة وصولا لشارع 22 فبراير وطريق الشمال، وذلك يوم السبت المقبل وبالتنسيق مع الإدارة العامة للمرور.
وكانت /أشغال/ قد افتتحت الاتجاه المؤدي إلى الوكرة في مارس الماضي، وستقوم بافتتاح الاتجاه القادم من الوكرة يوم /السبت/ المقبل لتسهيل الحركة المرورية في الاتجاهين خصوصا أن الطريق يتألف من أربعة إلى ستة مسارات في كل اتجاه تستوعب نحو أكثر من 20 ألف مركبة في الساعة في الاتجاهين، ويختصر نحو 70 بالمئة من زمن الرحلات.
ويعمل الطريق الجديد على توفير ربط مباشر بين كل من /استاد الجنوب/ و/استاد راس بوعبود/ و/استاد الثمامة/ نظرا لأن الطريق يتكامل مع عدة طرق حيوية، حيث يمتد من تقاطع /أم بشر/ على الطريق الدائري السابع والجزء الجنوبي من طريق الدوحة السريع مرورا بتقاطع /الوطيات/ على /محور صباح الأحمد/، وصولا لتقاطع مسيمير وطريق الدوحة السريع وكذلك الطريق الدائري الخامس وطريق المنطقة الصناعية وشارع روضة الخيل.
كما ستفتتح /أشغال/ المخرج الأيمن على تقاطع /أم بشر/ على الطريق الدائري السابع أمام القادمين من الوكرة والوكير عبر الجزء الجنوبي من طريق الدوحة السريع ومخرجين آخرين عند تقاطع /الوطيات/ على /محور صباح الأحمد/ أمام القادمين من الثمامة وتقاطع سلاح الجو وكذلك القادمين من بوهامور ومسيمير في اتجاه تقاطع مسيمير.
وستعمل الافتتاحات الجديدة على توفير بدائل وطرق مختصرة ما يخفف الضغط المروري على تقاطعات عدة.
وبهذه المناسبة، أكد المهندس حسن الغانم، من إدارة مشروعات الطرق السريعة، أن الطريق الجديد يعتبر بمثابة حلقة وصل مباشرة بين جنوب البلاد وشمالها حيث يستطيع القادم من مسيعيد في اتجاه الشمال والعكس استخدام طريق مباشر وحر بدون إشارات ضوئية ليختصر زمن الرحلة بنحو 70 بالمئة.
وأوضح الغانم أنه بذلك تم افتتاح معظم أجزاء تقاطع مسيمير أمام الحركة المرورية حتى الآن حيث تم إنجاز نحو 92 بالمئة من أعمال التقاطع الحيوي، مشيرا إلى أنه يتبقى نفق وحيد جار الانتهاء منه وافتتاحه قريبا ليصبح التقاطع بأكمله مفتوحا أمام المرور.
ويعتبر تقاطع مسيمير الجديد الذي يتألف من ثلاثة مستويات هو الأول من نوعه في قطر نظرا لاحتوائه على تسعة أنفاق توفر تدفقا مروريا حرا كما يحتوي التقاطع على جسرين رئيسيين آخرين يصلان بين شارع روضة الخيل وطريق المنطقة الصناعية في كلا الاتجاهين والطريق الدائري الخامس بالجزء الجنوبي من طريق الدوحة السريع في اتجاه واحد، وهو ما سيحقق انسيابية كبيرة في حركة المرور في كافة الجهات.
