Violence in Schools: Causes and Solutions

School violence is one of the most serious manifestations that results in pathological behaviors in the student, which in turn reflects on all aspects of his life, cognitive, psychological and social, and on the school community in general. During this investigation, we try to answer questions about the reasons for the aggressive behavior of some students in schools, and define the roles and responsibilities of guardians, teachers, and psychologists, and the rules and regulations related to behavioral control.

Specialists and educators provided main reasons for the student to show aggressive tendencies towards his peers and teachers, including his upbringing in a violent home environment, parents’ use of beating as a means of education, family disputes, and the sharp change in the financial status.

“The school has a complementary role in treating the problem, but the basis of treatment starts at home and with the family. This does not dispense with the necessity for the school to play its role in educating students and evaluating their behavior by following modern educational methods, studying cases individually, and communicating with parents and guiding them.” they explained.

They suggested activating some measures that would contribute to modifying students’ behavior to serve the educational process, while preserving the school environment and teacher’s respect, as well as preserving the student’s future. Such as the establishment of a specialized social and psychological department to follow up the work of social workers and students’ cases, and they also suggested the application of penalties such as obligating the student to carry out social service for a number of days as a disciplinary and punitive measure, or the dismissal should be within the school. With developing the list of behavioral control to include modern educational and punitive methods, and that the punishment be positive so as not to affect the student’s psyche, with the training of the staff of psychologists in schools.

يعد العنف المدرسي، من أخطر المظاهر التي ينجم عنها سلوكات مرضية لدى الطالب تنعكس بدورها على كل جوانب حياته، المعرفية، النفسية والاجتماعية، وعلى المجتمع المدرسي بشكل عام، وخلال هذا التحقيق نحاول الإجابة على تساؤلات حول أسباب السلوك العدواني لبعض الطلبة في المدارس، وتحديد أدوار ومسؤوليات كل من ولي الأمر، والمعلم، والأخصائي النفسي، والأنظمة واللوائح المتعلقة بالضبط السلوكي.

وقدم أخصائيون وتربويون، أسباباً رئيسية لإظهار الطالب ميولاً عدوانية تجاه أقرانه ومعلميه، منها نشأته في بيئة منزلية عنيفة، واستخدام الوالدين للضرب كوسيلة للتربية، وأيضاً الخلافات الأسرية، والتغير الحاد في المستوى المادي، بالإضافة إلى مشكلات نفسية أخرى قد يتعرض لها الطالب، موضحين أن للمدرسة دوراً مكملاً في علاج المشكلة، ولكن أساس العلاج يبدأ من المنزل والأسرة. وهذا لا يغني عن ضرورة قيام المدرسة بدورها في تربية الطلاب وتقويم سلوكهم باتباع الوسائل التربوية الحديثة، ودراسة الحالات بشكل منفرد والتواصل مع أولياء الأمور وإرشادهم.

واقترحوا تفعيل بعض الإجراءات التي من شأنها أن تساهم في تعديل سلوك الطلاب بما يخدم العملية التعليمية، مع الحفاظ على البيئة المدرسية، واحترام المعلم، وكذلك الحفاظ على مستقبل الطالب، مثل إنشاء إدارة اجتماعية نفسية مختصة لمتابعة عمل الأخصائيين الاجتماعيين وحالات الطلاب، كما اقترحوا تطبيق عقوبات مثل إلزام الطالب بتنفيذ خدمة اجتماعية لعدد من الأيام كإجراء عقابي وتهذيبي، أو أن يكون الفصل داخلياً. مع تطوير لائحة الضبط السلوكي لتتضمن أساليب تربوية وعقابية حديثة، وأن يكون العقاب إيجابيا لكي لا يؤثر على نفسية الطالب، مع تدريب كادر الأخصائيين النفسيين بالمدارس.
