Mega cruise ship Mein Schiff 4 brings 2,522 tourists to Qatar

DOHA: Mein Schiff 4 marked her maiden call at Doha Port yesterday carrying more than 2,522 passengers and 1,006 crew. Mein Schiff 4’s visit is the first of 10 calls scheduled for the 2018-2019 cruise season, which runs until May 2019.

Mwani Qatar in coordination with the concerned authorities provided all necessary facilities to passengers who arrived on board the ship, ensuring them easy and safe entry and exit to and from the port, so that they can start their tours in record time and within a short period of the ship’s anchoring on the quayside.

A special ceremony to mark the maiden call was held and attended by a number of officials and dignitaries. Commemorative shields were exchanged on the sidelines of the ceremony.

Mwani Qatar’s CEO Capt. Abdulla Al Khanji said: “The success of receiving one of the world’s largest cruise ships in Doha port today reflects the confidence that the port has gained among the world’s cruise ship operators and reflects its ability to promote this growing industry in Qatar in line with the Ministry of Transport and Communications’ strategic plan aimed at developing maritime transport in the state.”

“Receiving such vessels, providing them with best services and all necessary facilities will attract and encourage more cruise ships and cruise lines to visit Qatar,” said Al-Khanji, adding that 10 new cruise ships will make their maiden trips to Qatar this season.

“Mwani Qatar works closely with its strategic partners such as National Tourism Council, the Ministry of Interior and the General Authority of Customs to ensure first class services for cruise ships visiting the port and providing them with the necessary facilities for checking passports and customs clearance to assure smooth disembarking and departure at the appropriate time,” the CEO of Mwani Qatar said.

Doha Port is now in redevelopment mode and will certainly be a future hub port for cruise ships and luxury yachts of all sizes.

Once completed, the port will be ready to host multiple mega ships at the same time, Al Khanji added.

He further noted that the port’s transformation into a major cruise port in the region will bring significant economic returns to companies, hotels, restaurants, retail, services and tourist attractions in Qatar.

German Ambassador Hans-Udo Muzel said: “It is my great pleasure to join all of you in welcoming the arrival of Mein Schiff 4 for its first call to the Doha Port in the winter season of 2018/2019. This is a notable occasion which marks an important milestone in the development of German-Qatari relations in the field of tourism. It was in the presence of H H the Amir during this year´s Qatar-Germany Investment Conference in Berlin, that the cooperation between our two nations in this important economic field was brought to new levels.”

With a length of 293 meters, 35 meters in width and 8.27 meter drought Mein Schiff 4 is one of the world’s newest cruise ships. It was built in 2014 and began its first trip in June 2015.

The ship consists of 15 decks. Passengers on board can enjoy a variety of dining options and restaurants, a 3-level theatre, a basketball court, a kids club, and a pool deck containing one of the longest pools on a cruise ship.

رست بميناء الدوحة، صباح أمس الخميس، السفينة السياحية العملاقة «ماين شيف 4» التابعة لشركة «توي» الألمانية للرحلات البحرية، مدشنة بذلك أولى رحلاتها لدولة قطر، حيث تحمل على متنها 2522 سائحاً ونحو 1006 أشخاص يمثلون طاقمها. وتُعد هذه الزيارة الأولى للسفينة من بين 10 زيارات مجدولة ضمن الموسم الحالي 2018-2019، الذي يستمر حتى مايو المقبل.

وقد قامت شركة مواني قطر بالتنسيق مع الجهات أصحاب المصلحة، من خلال تقديم كل التسهيلات اللازمة، لإنهاء إجراءات دخول وخروج السائحين، من وإلى الميناء بيسر وسلام، ليتمكن بذلك السائحون من بدء جولاتهم السياحية في زمن قياسي وقصير من رسو السفينة على رصيف الميناء.

وتم تنظيم حفل خاص بمناسبة تدشين السفينة العالمية أولى رحلاتها إلى دولة قطر بنجاح، حيث حضر الحفل عدد من المسؤولين وكبار الشخصيات في الدولة، كما تم على هامش الحفل تبادل الدروع التذكارية.

وبهذه المناسبة، قال الكابتن عبدالله الخنجي، الرئيس التنفيذي لشركة مواني قطر: يعكس نجاح ميناء الدوحة اليوم في استقبال واحدة من أكبر السفن السياحية على مستوى العالم، الثقة الكبيرة التي أصبح يحتلها الميناء بين مشغلي السفن السياحية في العالم، كما يعكس قدرة الميناء على تعزيز هذه الصناعة الآخذة في النمو في دولة قطر، وفقاً للخطة الاسترتيجية لوزارة المواصلات والاتصالات، والموضوعة لتطوير النقل البحري في قطر.

وأضاف الخنجي أن استقبال مثل هذه السفن وتأمينها، وتقديم الخدمات وكل التسهيلات الضرورية لها، يعمل على جذب وتشجيع المزيد من السفن السياحية والخطوط الملاحية العالمية لزيارة قطر، مشيراً إلى أن الموسم الحالي 2018-2019 يشهد تدشين 10 سفن سياحية جديدة أولى رحلاتها إلى قطر.

وقال إن شركة مواني قطر تعمل بشكل وثيق مع شركائها الاستراتيجيين، مثل المجلس الوطني للسياحة، ووزارة الداخلية، والهيئة العامة للجمارك، من أجل ضمان تقديم خدمات من الدرجة الأولى للسفن السياحية التي تزور الميناء، وتقديم التسهيلات اللازمة لتدقيق الجوازات والجمارك، لضمان انسيابية العبور والمغادرة في وقت مناسب.

بدوره، قال سعادة السيد هانز أودو موزيل، سفير جمهورية ألمانيا لدى الدولة: «يسعدني أن تكون هذه السفينة السياحية المميزة، إحدى أكثر السفن فخامة في أسطول الرحلات البحرية الألمانية، ترسو اليوم في ميناء الدوحة، حتى يتمكن السياح من ألمانيا

وأضاف: «علاوة على ذلك، لقد علمت أن شركة توي، وغيرها من شركات الرحلات البحرية الألمانية، سترسل سفنها خلال كأس العالم 2022 إلى محطة الرحلات البحرية الجديدة الرائعة في الدوحة، مما سيخلق تجربة خاصة لقضاء أوقات رائعة مع كرة القدم للسياح من جميع أنحاء العالم».

وتعد «ماين شيف 4» من أحدث السفن السياحية على مستوى العالم بطول 293 متراً، وعرض 35 متراً، وغاطس 8.27 أمتار، حيث تم بناؤها عام 2014، وبدأت أولى رحلاتها في يونيو من العام 2015، وتتألف من 15 طابقاً، ويمكن للمسافرين على متنها الاستمتاع بمجموعة واسعة من خيارات الطعام والمطاعم المتنوعة.;
