Sheikha Alya to lead negotiations on statement of commemoration of 75th anniversary of UN

The President of the 74th Session of the United Nations General Assembly, H E Tijjani Muhammad appointed Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Ambassador, H E Sheikha Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al Thani, and
Permanent Representative of Sweden to the United Nations Ambassador, H E Anna Karin Enestrom to facilitate and lead international negotiations for an agreement on a statement of the commemoration of the 75th anniversary of the United Nations.
This was stated in a letter circulated by the President of the General Assembly to all UN Member States.
The political statement, to be adopted at the high-level meeting on September 21, 2020, with the participation of heads of state and government, will be under the theme: a brief, forward-looking objective statement that strengthens unity among Member States, reaffirms collective commitment to multilateralism and to the United Nations, and reflects joint vision towards a shared future.
The General Assembly, in its resolution 73/299 entitled “Commemoration of the 75th anniversary of the United Nations”, approved the high-level meeting.
Concluding his message, H E Tijjani Muhammad expressed his thanks and appreciation to Ambassador H E Sheikha Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al Thani and to H E Ambassador Anna Karin Enestrom for accepting this important responsibility, calling on all Member States to provide support and cooperation to make the mission a success.
قرر سعادة السيد تيجاني محمد، رئيس الدورة الـ 74 للجمعية العامة للأمم المتحدة تعيين سعادة السفيرة الشيخة علياء أحمد بن سيف آل ثاني، المندوب الدائم لدولة قطر لدى الأمم المتحدة، وسعادة السفيرة آنا-كارين إنيستروم، المندوب الدائم للسويد لدى الأمم المتحدة، لتيسير وقيادة مفاوضات حكومية دولية للتوافق على بيان بمناسبة الذكرى الخامسة والسبعين لإنشاء الأمم المتحدة. جاء هذا في رسالة عممها رئيس الجمعية على جميع الدول الأعضاء في الأمم المتحدة.
وسيكون البيان السياسي، المقرر اعتماده في الاجتماع الرفيع المستوى الذي سيعقد يوم 21 سبتمبر 2020، بمشاركة رؤساء الدول والحكومات، تحت عنوان «بيان موضوعي استشرافي موجز يرسخ الوحدة بين الدول الأعضاء ويجسد التزامها الجماعي بتعددية الأطراف وبالأمم المتحدة، ويعبر عن رؤيتها المشتركة صوب مستقبل مشترك».
وفي ختام رسالته، أعرب سعادة السيد تيجاني محمد عن شكره وتقديره لسعادة السفيرة الشيخة علياء أحمد بن سيف آل ثاني، ولسعادة السفيرة آنا-كارين إنيستروم على قبولهما تولي هذه المسؤولية المهمة، داعياً جميع الدول الأعضاء لتقديم الدعم والتعاون لإنجاح المهمة.
