Qatar Chamber Discusses Boosting Economic and Commercial Ties with Russia

Doha: Qatar Chamber First Vice-Chairman Mohamed bin Twar Al Kuwari met with deputy chairman of the committee for external relations of Saint-Petersburg government and head of foreign economic cooperation department Arbi Abubakarov.
The meeting touch on commercial and economic relations between both countries and ways to enhancing them, in addition to the investment opportunities available in Saint-Petersburg in various sectors.
During the meeting, Al Kuwari stressed the robustness of relations between Qatar and Russia in all fields, indicating that Qatari businessmen and investors are eager to learn about the opportunities available in Russia generally and in Saint-Petersburg in particular.
Al Kuwari also noted that Saint-Petersburg is a leading destination for investment, assuring that after the pandemic ends, representatives of Russian and Qatari private sector will exchange visits to further develop their cooperation and explore opportunities available in both countries and forge active partnerships.
Speaking on the occasion, Abubakarov lauded the significant development witnessed by Qatar in all fields, especially regarding the preparations related to the host of FIFA World Cup 2022, noting that both sides can exchange expertise in this respect as Russia hosted a successful edition of the tournament in 2018.
Abubakarov also praised the Qatars participation in St. Petersburg International Economic Forum 2021 in which Qatar was the guest country.
He also said that Qatar is a leading country in foreign investments and there are numerous Qatari investments in Russia and in St. Petersburg, hoping to see more investments in most sectors such as agriculture, hospitality and real estate development.

الدوحة: استعرضت غرفة قطر فرص الاستثمار المتاحة في سانت بطرسبرغ الروسية في قطاعات متنوعة، وسبل تعزيز التعاون بين رجال الأعمال في الجانبين.
جاء ذلك خلال الاجتماع الذي جمع السيد محمد بن أحمد بن طوار الكواري النائب الأول لرئيس غرفة قطر مع السيد عربي أبوبكروف، نائب رئيس لجنة العلاقات الخارجية في حكومة سانت بطرسبرغ ورئيس قسم التعاون الاقتصادي الخارجي.
وأكد الكواري خلال الاجتماع، اهتمام رجال الأعمال القطريين وحرصهم على الاطلاع على فرص الاستثمار المتاحة في روسيا بصفة عامة وفي مدينة سانت بطرسبرغ على وجه الخصوص.. مشيرا إلى أن مدينة سانت بطرسبرغ تعتبر من الوجهات الاستثمارية الرائدة، مضيفا أنه بعد انتهاء الجائحة سيتم استئناف الزيارات المتبادلة بين ممثلي القطاع الخاص في البلدين مما يوفر فرصة لبحث الفرص الاستثمارية والاستفادة منها في شراكات فاعلة تعود بالفائدة على اقتصاد البلدين.
من جانبه، أشاد السيد عربي أبوبكروف بالنهضة الكبيرة التي تشهدها قطر في كافة المجالات، لا سيما فيما يرتبط بالاستعدادات لاستضافة كأس العالم FIFA قطر 2022 ، منوها بأنه يمكن للجانبين التعاون في هذا المجال خاصة وأن روسيا استضافت نسخة عام 2018 بنجاح منقطع النظير.
كما اشاد أبوبكروف بمشاركة دولة قطر في منتدى سانت بطرسبرغ الاقتصادي العالمي 2021 والذي كانت فيه دولة قطر الدولة الضيف للمنتدى.
ونوه بأن دولة قطر رائدة في الاستثمارات الخارجية ولديها العديد من الاستثمارات الناجحة في سانت بطرسبرغ وفي روسيا بشكل عام، معرباً عن أمله في رؤية المزيد من هذه الاستثمارات في المستقبل وفي أغلب القطاعات خاصة في مشاريع الزراعة والضيافة والعقارات.
