Doha: The Qatar Calendar House announced that the inhabitants of the northern hemisphere, including the residents of the State of Qatar, will be on a date with seeing and monitoring the Orionids meteor shower for this year, as it will reach its climax on Tuesday evening 3rd of Rabi Al-Awal 1442 AH, corresponding to October 20, 2020 AD, and will extend until the morning of Wednesday 21 October 2020.
Dr. Bashir Marzouq (the astronomer at the Qatar Calendar House) stated that the Orionids meteors are an important astronomical phenomenon, as they are active annually during the period from October 2nd to November 2nd, but they reach their climax between October 20th and October 21st of each year.
In addition, the Orionids meteor shower is one of the most distinctive meteor showers, as its rate of fall into the sky when it reaches its peak will be from 20 to 30 meteors per hour, according to the estimation of astronomers specializing in meteor monitoring. And what distinguishes monitoring meteor showers is that it only needs a place far from environmental and light pollution,
Therefore, the residents of the State of Qatar and the countries of the Arab region will be able to monitor and see the Orionids meteors without the need for astronomical devices or telescopes, as they can see and monitor the Orionids meteors with the naked eye from Tuesday evening until the dawn of Wednesday.

الدوحة: أعلنت دار التقويم القطري أن سكان النصف الشمالي من الكرة الأرضية بمن فيهم سكان دولة قطر سيكونون على موعد مع رؤية ورصد زخة شهب الجباريات لهذا العام، حيث ستصل ذروتها مساء الثلاثاء 3 من شهر ربيع الأول 1442هـ، الموافق 20 من أكتوبر 2020م، وستمتد حتى صباح يوم الأربعاء 21 من أكتوبر 2020م. وذكر الدكتور بشير مرزوق (الخبير الفلكي بدار التقويم القطري) أن شهب الجباريات من الظواهر الفلكية الهامة، حيث إنها تنشط سنويًّا خلال الفترة من 2 أكتوبر وحتى 2 نوفمبر، إلا أنها تصل ذروتها ما بين يومي 20 أكتوبر و21 أكتوبر من كل عام، إضافة إلى أن زخة شهب الجباريات من الزخات الشهابية المميزة، حيث إن معدل سقوطها في السماء عندما تصل ذروتها سيكون من 20 إلى 30 شهابًا في الساعة بحسب تقدير خبراء الفلك المتخصصين في رصد الشهب.
ومما يميز رصد زخات الشهب أنه لا يحتاج سوى مكان بعيد عن التلوث البيئي والضوئي، ولذا سيتمكن سكان دولة قطر ودول المنطقة العربية من رصد ورؤية زخة شهب الجباريات دون الحاجة إلى أجهزة أو تلسكوبات فلكية، إذ يمكنهم رؤية ورصد شهب الجباريات بالعين المجردة بدءًا من مساء الثلاثاء، وحتى بزوغ فجر الأربعاء،.
