Citizens called on the concerned authorities to tighten control over the wilderness areas to prevent excessive logging of desert trees, as many go to visit the wild areas as temperatures drop, to enjoy the charming atmosphere enjoyed during the winter, stressing that cutting tree trunks and branches harms the wildlife, and leads to the decline of the vegetation cover, especially that some people do not stop at cutting dead branches, but rather they cut green branches too.
The citizen Jaber Al-Kubaisi monitored the cutting of trees in the wild area adjacent to the Umm Qarn area, as the one who committed this act did not take into account that he was doing something that violates the law, and in the event of his arrest, a severe penalty will be imposed on him and there will be no reconciliation.
Al-Kubaisi confirmed to Al-Raya that the main problem with cutting wild trees is that those who do it are not scavengers, but rather experienced lumberjacks, and the evidence for this is that they use saws, with the aim of selling the wood to citizens afterwards, calling on the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change to monitor those who sell the wood, especially those selling firewood and local acacia on social media platforms, and investigate about the source of the firewood.
He called on the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change to tighten control over wild areas, with the need for increased penalties for violators who cut down trees, He also called for citizens to cooperate with the ministry and immediately report cases of infringement as a matter of national responsibility for people who cut logs, branches and tree trunks, and to contact the hotline of the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change to report this behavior that harms the Qatari environment and exposes trees to death.

الدوحة: دعا مواطنون الجهات المعنية إلى تشديد الرقابة على المناطق البرية لمنع عمليات التحطيب الجائر للأشجار الصحراوية في ظل توجه الكثيرين لزيارة المناطق البرية مع انخفاض درجات الحرارة، للاستمتاع بالأجواء الساحرة التي تتمتع بها خلال فصل الشتاء، مؤكدين أن قطع جذوع وأغصان الأشجار يضر بالحياة الفطرية، ويؤدي إلى انحسار الغطاء النباتي خاصة أن البعض لا يكتفي بقطع الأغصان الميتة بل يتعدونها إلى الخضراء.
ورصد المواطن جابر الكبيسي أعمال قطع الأشجار في المساحة البرية المجاورة لمنطقة أم قرن حيث لم يراع من قام بهذا الفعل أنه يقوم بأمر مخالف للقوانين وفي حال القبض عليه سيتم إنزال عقوبة مشددة عليه ولا تصالح فيها.
وأكد الكبيسي لـ الراية أن المشكلة الرئيسية في أعمال قطع الأشجار البرية هي أن من يقوم بها ليسوا كشاتة بل هم أشخاص لديهم خبرة في أعمال التحطيب، والدليل على ذلك أنهم يستخدمون المناشير في القطع بهدف بيعها بعد ذلك للمواطنين، داعيًا وزارة البيئة والتغير المناخي بضرورة رصد بائعي الحطب وخاصة من يبيعون حطب القرطات والسمر المحلي في مواقع التواصل والتحقيق معهم بشأن مصدر الحطب.
ودعا وزارة البيئة والتغيّر المناخي إلى ضرورة تشديد الرقابة على المناطق البرية مع ضرورة تغليظ العقوبات على المخالفين ممن يقومون بقطع الأشجار، كما دعا إلى تعاون المواطنين مع الوزارة والتبليغ فورًا عن حالات التعدي من باب المسؤولية الوطنية على الأشخاص الذين يقومون بالتحطيب وقطع أغصان وجذوع الأشجار والتواصل على الرقم الساخن الخاص بوزارة البيئة والتغيّر المُناخي للإبلاغ عن هذا التصرف الذي يضرّ بالبيئة القطرية ويعرض الأشجار للموت.
