Qatar condemns Israeli move on construction of new housing units in East Jerusalem

Doha: The State of Qatar has condemned the announcement by the Israeli authorities, on May 30, 2019 of a tender for the construction of 805 housing units in two settlements in East Jerusalem, and considered them a flagrant violation of international law and relevant Security Council resolutions.
In a statement yesterday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the State of Qatar rejects any attempt to change the identity of the Holy City of Jerusalem and its historical and legal status, which is based on the international consensus. It also calls for the immediate cancellation of this move and all steps that contravene Security Council Resolution No. 2334, to stop the construction of settlements and the illegality of all settlements established since 1967.
The State of Qatar appeals to the international community to assume its responsibilities in a just and objective manner towards the Palestinian cause and its constants, including the status of Al Quds Al Sharif.
أعربت دولة قطر عن استنكارها لإعلان الكيان الإسرائيلي بتاريخ 30 مايو 2019 عن مناقصة لبناء 805 وحدات سكنية في مستوطنتين كائنتين بالقدس الشرقية، واعتبرتها مخالفة صارخة للقانون الدولي وقرارات مجلس الأمن ذات الصلة.
وقالت وزارة الخارجية في بيان اليوم، إن دولة قطر ترفض كل ما من شأنه محاولة تغيير هوية مدينة القدس الشريف ووضعها التاريخي والقانوني الذي استقر عليه الإجماع الدولي، كما تطالب بالعدول فورا عن هذه الخطوة وجميع الخطوات التي تخالف قرار مجلس الأمن رقم 2334 والذي ينص على إيقاف بناء المستوطنات وعدم شرعية كل المستوطنات التي تم إنشاؤها منذ العام 1967.
وأضاف البيان أن دولة قطر تناشد المجتمع الدولي للاضطلاع بمسؤولياته بشكل عادل وموضوعي تجاه القضية الفلسطينية وثوابتها ومنها وضع القدس الشريف.
