Doha Film Institute to Host Virtual Edition of Qumra 2022 in March

Doha: The Doha Film Institute (DFI) will host a virtual edition of Qumra 2022, the annual talent incubator for Arab cinema and beyond, from March 18 to 23.

Dedicated to nurturing new and independent voices in cinema, Qumra 2022 will feature a wide range of activities tailored to support emerging talents from their script-to-screen journey.

Fatma Hassan Al Remaihi, Chief Executive Officer of DFI, said: “Despite the challenging situation globally, we are hosting Qumra 2022 in a virtual format because we believe it is important to support new voices, especially in these times when creative pursuits are even more important. With Qumra, our mission is to empower the global storytelling landscape and emerging voices to create inspiring cinema, exercise creative expression, and transform inspired stories into acclaimed masterpieces.

She added: “To maintain the current momentum towards success for the stand-out projects, the Institute will proceed with an online program to support the filmmakers through this challenging period. Over the past seven years, Qumra has been crucial to the success of filmmakers from the Arab world and beyond and in supporting important voices in global storytelling. We hope Qumra Online will continue with its proud tradition of supporting the most promising talent and help share their work with our growing Qumra global community.”

Qumra will roll out an online program for the selected projects which will include mentorship sessions, in addition to roundtables, meetings and networking sessions. Continuing the Institutes commitment to supporting promising talent in evolving forms of creativity and new possibilities, the 2022 Qumra Online event will have sessions dedicated to exploring and developing fresh new projects from the region.

All the selected projects will have their one-on-one sessions delivered online, to accelerate the success of filmmakers and prepare them to bring their projects to audiences around the world. More details of Qumra 2022 will be announced in due course.

الدوحة: تستضيف مؤسسة الدوحة للأفلام النسخة المقبلة من ملتقى /قمرة السينمائي/ 2022 بطريقة افتراضية، في الفترة من 18 إلى 23 مارس القادم .

ويعد الملتقى السنوي حاضنة للمواهب السينمائية العربية والعالمية بهدف دعم الأصوات السينمائية الجديدة والمستقلة ، وسيضم قمرة 2022 في نسخته الافتراضية القادمة مجموعة متنوعة من الأنشطة المصممة لدعم المواهب الناشئة خلال مسيرتهم العملية ابتداءً من الفكرة وكتابة النص وصولاً إلى عرض الفيلم على الشاشة.

وفي هذا السياق، قالت السيدة فاطمة حسن الرميحي، الرئيس التنفيذي لمؤسسة الدوحة للأفلام “على الرغم من كل التحديات التي يشهدها العالم حالياً، نستضيف ملتقى قمرة السينمائي 2022 بطريقة افتراضية لإيماننا القوي بأهمية مواصلة مسيرة الدعم للأصوات الجديدة خصوصاً في هذه الأوقات التي يكون فيها العمل الإبداعي أكثر أهمية، ومن خلال قمرة، تركز مهمتنا على مساندة المشهد السينمائي العالمي وتمكين الأصوات الناشئة والواعدة بهدف تقديم أفلام ملهمة ومساعدتهم على ممارسة تعبيرهم الإبداعي لتحويل القصص إلى أفلام مشهورة”.

وأضافت الرميحي “بهدف المحافظة على الزخم الحالي لتحقيق النجاح للمشاريع المميزة، ستواصل المؤسسة برامجها عبر الإنترنت لدعم صناع الأفلام طيلة هذه الفترة الصعبة .. مشيرة أنه على مدار السنوات السبع الماضية، كان ملتقى /قمرة السينمائي/ عاملاً ضرورياً وأساسياً لنجاح صناع الأفلام من المنطقة العربية والعالم، ودعم الأصوات المهمة في السرد القصصي العالمي، ونأمل بأن يواصل ملتقى قمرة الافتراضي عبر الإنترنت تقاليده التي يعتز بها في مساندة المواهب الواعدة ومساعدتهم على مشاركة قصصهم مع مجتمع قمرة العالمي الذي يشهد نمواً متواصلاً”.

يعتمد ملتقى /قمرة السينمائي/ في نسخته الافتراضية برنامجاً إلكترونياً متقدماً لمشاريع مختارة تتضمن جلسات توجيهية، مائدات مستديرة، اجتماعات وجلسات تعارف، كما سيضم جلسات مكرسة لاستكشاف وتطوير مشاريع جديدة من المنطقة، في خطوة تؤكد مواصلة التزام المؤسسة بدعم المواهب الناشئة لتقديم أنماط مختلفة من الإبداع واستكشاف الفرص الجديدة.
