English Version of “Eco-Tourism in the State of Qatar” Book Inaugurated

Doha: The pavilion of the Municipality Ministry and Environment and Climate Change Ministry at the 31st Doha International Book Fair witnessed the inauguration of the English edition of the “Eco-Tourism in the State of Qatar” book, authored by Ahmed Hussein Al Mutawa, environmental consultant at the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change. The book was previously published in Arabic in 2019.

During the inauguration ceremony, Director of Public Relations at the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Eng. Farhoud Hadi Al Hajri stressed the importance of the book and its role in raising environmental awareness and informing society of the efforts of the State of Qatar in preserving the environment and ensuring its sustainability in line with Qatar National Vision. He pointed out that the participation of the two ministries in the 2021 book fair is part of their efforts to spread awareness and community communication by displaying their various books, literature, and scientific publications, as well as introducing their achievements and the outcome of their work via the presentation of documentary films and introductory publications.

Ahmed Hussein Al Mutawa, the author of the book, highlighted the great importance attached to the eco-tourism in the country, adding the book also reviews sports tourism, which is also witnessing a boom due to the 2022 World Cup.

Also, the author made it clear that the tourism industry is witnessing a tangible and rapid development, as the state has developed a comprehensive tourism plan to keep pace with the economic renaissance, and to emphasize building Qatar as a global tourist destination.

The event witnessed fruitful discussions on many issues and problems related to the environment and tourism and their relationship to the economic development and urban renaissance of the State of Qatar. It reviewed ways to achieve sustainable development while preserving natural resources for future generations. Several concerned officials and environmental activists attended the event.

الدوحة: شهد جناح وزارتي البلدية، والبيئة والتغير المناخي، بمعرض الدوحة الدولي للكتاب في دورته الحادية والثلاثين، تدشين كتاب /السياحة البيئية في دولة قطر/ في نسخته الإنجليزية، لمؤلفه أحمد حسين المطوع، الاستشاري البيئي بوزارة البيئة والتغير المناخي، والذي سبق إصداره باللغة العربية في عام 2019.

وأكد المهندس فرهود هادي الهاجري، مدير إدارة العلاقات العامة بوزارة البيئة والتغير المناخي، خلال حفل التدشين، أهمية الكتاب، ودوره في رفع الوعي البيئي، وتعريف المجتمع بالجهود التي تبذلها دولة قطر في مجال الحفاظ على البيئة وضمان استدامتها انسجاما مع رؤيتها الوطنية، لافتا إلى أن مشاركة الوزارتين في معرض الكتاب لهذا العام يندرج ضمن جهودهما لنشر الوعي والتواصل المجتمعي من خلال عرض مختلف الكتب والمؤلفات وإصداراتهما العلمية، إلى جانب التعريف بإنجازاتهما وحصيلة عملهما على هذا النحو من خلال عرض أفلام توثيقية ومنشورات تعريفية بذلك.

من جانبه، تحدث السيد أحمد حسين المطوع عن كتابه، مبرزا الدور الكبير الذي يحظى به هذا النوع من السياحة على كافة المستويات بالدولة، مشيرا لتطور السياحة البيئية والعوامل التي تؤثر عليها، إلى جانب التطرق إلى السياحة الرياضية من خلال الجهود المبذولة لاستضافة بطولة كأس العالم /FIFA قطر 2022/.

كما أوضح الكاتب أن صناعة السياحة تشهد تطورا ملموسا ومتسارعا، حيث وضعت الدولة الخطة السياحية الشاملة لمواكبة النهضة الاقتصادية، والتأكيد على بناء قطر كوجهة سياحية عالمية.

وشهدت الفعالية نقاشات مثمرة بحضور، عدد من المسؤولين المعنيين والنشطاء البيئيين، حول عدد من القضايا والإشكالات المتعلقة بالبيئة والسياحة وعلاقتهما بالتنمية الاقتصادية والنهضة العمرانية التي تشهدها دولة قطر، وبحث السبل الكفيلة بتحقيق التوازن والوصول إلى التنمية المستدامة مع الحفاظ على الموارد الطبيعية للأجيال التالية.
