Nadal Leads List of Stars Participating in Qatar ExxonMobil Open Tennis

Doha: The Qatar Tennis Federation announced the participation of Spanish star Rafael Nadal in the Qatar ExxonMobil Open Tennis Championship, which will be held from Feb. 19 to 24 in Doha.
The Spanish star, who is making a long-awaited return to the court after being forced to miss this year’s edition of the Australian Open Tennis Championship due to a minor muscle tear, won his only title in Doha in 2014 when he beat France’s Gael Monfils while finishing second in the 2016 edition of the tournament after losing the final to Serbia’s Novak Djokovic.
In addition to Nadal, who won 22 Grand Slam titles, the tournament will witness the return of world number three Daniil Medvedev to defend his title, in addition to world number five Andrey Rublev and former world number one, British Andy Murray.
The tournament, which has a total prize pool of $1,395,875 and is held in the 250-point category, will feature 28 players in the singles competitions, in addition to 16 teams in the doubles competitions.
The tournament director Karim Alami expressed his delight to announce the return of Rafael Nadal to the court again through the Qatar Exxon Mobil Open Tennis 2024.

In this tournament, which has seen his brilliance in the past editions, where Nadal has an exceptional fan base who are eager to see him again. On the other hand, Alami expressed his gratitude to Exxon Mobil, the title sponsor, the rest of the other sponsoring companies, and all the institutions and government agencies concerned for their great support to the Union tournaments over the past years and their contribution, especially in the success of the Qatar Exxon Mobil Open Tennis Championship and reaching a prestigious international status.
The Secretary General of Qatar Tennis, Squash and Badminton Federation and Vice-President of the Asian Tennis Federation, Tariq Zainal, expressed his happiness with the return of the world star Rafael Nadal to participate again in the Doha tournament to lead the large constellation of players participating in this new edition of the tournament.
He said they are delighted that world star Rafael Nadal is participating in this prestigious tournament. Doha has always been synonymous with the highest levels of tennis so it was no surprise that the tournament has seen the participation of many stars since its inception in 1993.
The Qatar ExxonMobil Open Men’s Tennis Championship has been awarded the Best Tournament in the 250-point category on five occasions (2015, 2017, 2019, 2021 and 2022).

الدوحة: أعلن الاتحاد القطري للتنس مشاركة النجم الإسباني رفاييل نادال في منافسات بطولة قطر إكسون موبيل المفتوحة للتنس والتي تقام خلال الفترة من 19 وحتى 24 فبراير المقبل بالدوحة.
وكان النجم الإسباني الذي يسجل عودة طال انتظارها للملاعب بعد أن أجبر على الغياب عن نسخة هذا العام من بطولة أستراليا المفتوحة للتنس بسبب تمزق صغير في العضلات، قد حصل على لقبه الوحيد في الدوحة في العام 2014 عندما تغلب على الفرنسي غاييل مونفيس بينما أحرز المركز الثاني في نسخة عام 2016 من البطولة بعد خسارته المباراة النهائية أمام الصربي نوفاك جوكوفيتش.
وبالإضافة إلى نادال الذي حصل على 22 لقبا في بطولات الغراند سلام، تشهد البطولة عودة المصنف الثالث على العالم دانييل ميدفيديف للدفاع عن لقبه بالإضافة إلى المصنف الخامس على العالم أندريه روبليف والمصنف أول عالميا سابقا، البريطاني أندي موراي.
وتشهد البطولة التي يبلغ مجموع جوائزها 1,395,875 دولارا أمريكيا وتقام ضمن فئة الـ 250 نقطة، مشاركة 28 لاعبا في منافسات الفردي بالإضافة إلى 16 فريق في منافسات الزوجي.
وقال كريم العلمي مدير البطولة في تصريح له بهذه المناسبة: “يسعدني أن أعلن عن عودة رفاييل نادال للملاعب مرة أخرى من خلال بطولة قطر إكسون موبيل المفتوحة للتنس 2024، فمن الرائع دائما أن تستقبل مدينة الدوحة النجم الإسباني الكبير على ملاعبها، وفي هذه البطولة التي شهدت تألقه في النسخ الماضية حيث يحظى نادال بقاعدة جماهيرية استثنائية تتوق لرؤيته مرة أخرى، ونثق في أن مشاركة نادال ستضفي المزيد من الزخم على بطولة قطر إكسون موبيل المفتوحة للتنس وعلى عالم التنس بصفة عامة”.
من جهة أخرى توجه العلمي بالشكر والتقدير لشركة إكسون موبيل راعية اللقب ولبقية الشركات الراعية الأخرى ولجميع المؤسسات والجهات الحكومة المعنية على دعمها الكبير لبطولات الاتحاد على مدار السنوات الماضية وعلى مساهمتها خصوصا في نجاح بطولة قطر إكسون موبيل المفتوحة للتنس ووصولها لمكانة عالمية مرموقة.
بدوره أعرب طارق زينل، أمين السر العام للاتحاد القطري للتنس، والمنسق العام للبطولة عن سعادته بعودة النجم العالمي رفاييل نادال للمشاركة مجددا في بطولة الدوحة ليقود الكوكبة الكبيرة من اللاعبين الذين يشاركون في هذه النسخة الجديدة من البطولة.
وقال: “إنه من دواعي سرورنا أن يشارك النجم العالمي رفاييل نادال في هذه البطولة العريقة، فلطالما كانت الدوحة مرادفا للمستويات الكبيرة في رياضة التنس ولهذا لم يكن من المفاجئ أن تشهد البطولة مشاركة العديد من النجوم منذ انطلاقتها في 1993.
يذكر أن بطولة قطر إكسون موبيل المفتوحة للتنس للرجال، قد حصلت على جائزة أفضل بطولة في فئة الـ 250 نقطة في خمس مناسبات في أعوام (2015 و2017 و2019 و2021 و2022).
