A team at WAbetainfo has unveiled WhatsApp’s new feature, which is officially being tested by WhatsApp which is preparing to release its new update.
Rumors have been circulating about the feature for months, but a team at WAbetainfo has finally discovered that WhatsApp is officially testing its application’s ability to make photos and videos self-destructive, al-Jazeera reported.
This feature, which is very similar to what Snapchat has been offering for years, means that the moment you open the image on the recipient’s device, it will then disappear by itself and destroy itself once it’s closed, as well as videos.
Screenshots were posted online showing how the new feature works on WhatsApp, explaining that this option allows users to send photos and videos in a more private way.
However, WhatsApp also warns users that although photos and videos can only be viewed once, there is nothing to prevent the recipient from taking a screenshot of anything sent.
In a message displayed on the app, WhatsApp says, “When you turn on this setting, recipients can open your photo or video you sent only once before it disappears. Keep in mind that they can still take screenshots before it disappears.”
This means that anyone considering sending something that might embarrass them in the future should be careful before pressing the sending button.
According to WAbetainfo, this self-destruct message feature is still under development, but with it now being pushed to the trial test lab, it is expected to be launched soon.

وهذه الميزة التي تشبه إلى حد بعيد ما تقدمه “سناب شات” (Snapchat) منذ سنوات، تعني أنه في اللحظة التي تُفتح فيها الصورة على جهاز المرسل إليه فإنها ستختفي بعد ذلك بطريقة ذاتية وتدمر نفسها بمجرد إغلاقها، وكذلك مقطع الفيديو.
ونشرت لقطات شاشة عبر الإنترنت توضح كيفية عمل الميزة الجديدة على واتساب، موضحة أن هذا الخيار يسمح للمستخدمين بإرسال الصور ومقاطع الفيديو بطريقة أكثر خصوصية.
ومع ذلك، فإن واتساب تحذّر المستخدمين أيضا من أنه على الرغم من تعذّر مشاهدة الصور ومقاطع الفيديو إلا مرة واحدة، فلا يوجد ما يمنع المتلقي من أخذ لقطة شاشة لأي شيء تم إرساله.
وفي رسالة معروضة على التطبيق، تقول واتساب “عند تشغيل هذا الإعداد، يمكن للمتلقين فتح صورتك أو مقطع الفيديو الذي أرسلته مرة واحدة فقط قبل اختفائه. ضع في حسبانك أنه لا يزال بإمكانهم أخذ لقطات شاشة قبل أن يختفي”.

ووفقا لـ”وابيتا إنفو”، فإن ميزة الرسالة ذاتية التدمير هذه ما زالت قيد التطوير، لكنه مع دفعها الآن إلى مختبر الإصدارات التجريبية، فمن المتوقع أن يكون إطلاقها قريبا.
