China’s Foreign Debt Amounted to 2.7 Trillion US Dollars By End of September

Beijing: China’s outstanding foreign debt stood at approximately 2.7 trillion US dollars by the end of September; the figure was 16.7 billion US dollars, or 0.6%, higher than that seen at the end of June.
The proportion of medium and long-term debt was 47%, up 3 percentage points from the end of June. The increase further enhanced structural stability, said deputy director and spokesperson of State Administration of Foreign Exchange (SAFE) Wang Chunying.
Wang warned that the international situation is expected to be complex and grim, given the resurgence in the COVID-19 pandemic and the gradual exits of some developed economies from the easing monetary policies, according to China’s (Xinhua) News Agency.
Despite the external pressure, the fundamentals of China’s long-term economic development will remain unchanged thanks to its strong economic resilience, Wang said, vowing that the country will pay close attention to the changes in foreign debt and take concrete steps to ward off cross-border financing risks.

وقالت السيدة وانغ تشيون يينغ، نائبة مدير الهيئة الوطنية للنقد الأجنبي أن نسبة الدين المتوسط إلى الدين الطويل الأجل بلغت 47 بالمائة، بزيادة 3 نقاط مئوية عن نهاية يونيو، مشددة على أن الزيادة عززت بشكل أكبر الاستقرار الهيكلي للدين الخارجي.
وحذرت وانغ أنه من المتوقع أن يصبح الوضع الدولي معقدا وقاتما، نظرا لعودة ظهور جائحة كوفيد-19 والتخلي التدريجي لبعض الاقتصادات المتقدمة عن سياسات التيسير النقدي.
وأشارت وانغ إلى أنه رغم الضغوط الخارجية، إلا أن أسس التنمية الاقتصادية على المدى الطويل في الصين ستظل دون تغيير بفضل مرونتها الاقتصادية القوية، لافتة بأن بلادها تولي اهتماما كبيرا للتغيرات في الدين الخارجي وتتخذ خطوات ملموسة لدرء المخاطر المالية العابرة للحدود.
