Qatar Tourism Wraps up Three Weeks of Festivities

Doha: Qatar staged an exciting finish to the year with a host of activities for the whole family and new touristic experiences. As restrictions on public gatherings eased and borders reopened, the country hosted a slew of in-person events. Qatar Tourism worked with stakeholders across the public and private sectors to host events and develop products and services catering to the needs of residents and visitors alike.
HE Chairman of Qatar Tourism and Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, Akbar Al Baker said, “This winter, Qatar has delivered a World Beyond to its citizens, residents, and visitors. We saw unprecedented levels of participation for our events and festivals, contributing to the success of the season. It is an encouraging sign as the country prepares to host millions of fans for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. We are especially delighted to see a large number of visitors from all over the region who joined us to share the exciting FIFA Arab Cup 2021 matches and partake of the variety of events taking place at the same time. It was wonderful to see the enthusiastic response to our cornerstone events, such as the Qatar International Food Festival, Qatar Live, Heya Arabian Fashion Exhibition and more.”
Qatar is a rapidly emerging cruise destination with a steady growth in the number of arriving ships and passengers. Mwani Qatar and Qatar Tourism announced the return of cruise tourism in the country on Dec.2, when MSC Virtuosa made its first voyage to Doha, bringing around 4,600 visitors. The 2021-22 cruise season is expected to be the biggest season yet, with 78 calls expected, including 11 maiden voyages, 11 turnaround voyages and 10 ships staying overnight in Doha Port.

الدوحة: اختتم جهاز قطر للسياحة، فعالياته الشتوية، التي نظمها بالتعاون مع شركائه في القطاعين العام والخاص، وشملت بطولات رياضية وأنشطة ترفيهية وتجارب سياحية جديدة، وشهدت إقبالا جماهيريا كبيرا.
وبهذه المناسبة، قال سعادة السيد أكبر الباكر، رئيس جهاز قطر للسياحة والرئيس التنفيذي لمجموعة الخطوط الجوية القطرية:” لقد قدَّمت قطر في هذا الشتاء عالمًا استثنائيًا فاق توقعات الجمهور من المواطنين والزوار، وشهدنا مستويات غير مسبوقة من الحضور الجماهيري والإقبال على فعالياتنا ومهرجاناتنا، مما أسهم في نجاح الموسم”.
وأضاف:” لا شك أن هذه علامة مشجعة فيما تستعد الدولة لاستضافة ملايين الزوار خلال بطولة كأس العالم FIFA قطر 2022. أسعدنا توافد أعداد كبيرة من الزوار إلى قطر من جميع أنحاء المنطقة للاستمتاع بالأجواء المميزة لمباريات كأس العرب FIFA قطر 2021 وبمجموعة من الفعاليات التي تزامنت مع البطولة، كما كان الإقبال والحضور الكبير لفعالياتنا الرئيسية مثل مهرجان قطر الدولي للأغذية، وقطر لايف، ومعرض هي للأزياء العربية وغيرها، رائعا.”
وتشهد دولة قطر نموًا متسارعًا باعتبارها وجهة ناشئة لسياحة الرحلات البحرية وذلك مع الزيادة الملموسة في أعداد الزوار وعدد السفن السياحية التي ترسو على الشواطئ القطرية.
وأعلن جهاز قطر للسياحة ومواني قطر، في الثاني من ديسمبر الماضي، عودة السياحة البحرية إلى البلاد، وذلك بالتزامن مع تدشين السفينة السياحية “ام اس سي فيرتوزا” لأول رحلة لها إلى الدوحة والتي حملت على متنها حوالي 4600 زائر. ومن المتوقع أن يكون موسم الرحلات البحرية 2021 – 2022 هو الأكبر حتى الآن، حيث يتوقع وصول 78 رحلة، منها 11 رحلة هي الأولى للسفن الزائرة و11 رحلة انطلاق وعودة و10 بواخر ستمكث لليلة واحدة في ميناء الدوحة.
