Qatar Managed Pandemic Very Well In Last Two Years

Doha: In its editorial Saturday, Qatari English-language The Peninsula newspaper stressed that the state of Qatar managed the pandemic very well in the last two years.

The responsible attitude of the community members who took part in the vaccination drive without any procrastination and reluctance in taking vaccine doses was behind this success, the paper said, adding: “Now again all members of the community will have to show the same level of maturity in taking booster doses,” stressing that the COVID-19 vaccine booster doses are necessary and they are safe and effective. And they are also the only available option to counter the growing threat of new variant of coronavirus.

Now Omicron is fast becoming a dominant strain in many parts of the world and only weapon to defeat the mutated-virus is to ensure vaccination for all, who are still unvaccinated against COVID-19, and giving booster shots to people who took the second dose of the vaccine six or more months ago, the peninsula said, noting that The Ministry of Public Health has repeatedly urged people to take vaccines or booster shots and advising people to adhere strictly to preventive measures. The Ministry has also reassured people that the booster dose is safe and effective, and it is very important that people have high levels of protection against the virus.

Booster vaccines are available at all Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) health centers and PHCC is directly contacting people who are eligible for the booster vaccine dose to set an appointment, the paper said.

“Since December 23, 2020, National COVID-19 Vaccination Program has administered more than five million doses of vaccines and 86 percent of the total population is now fully vaccinated with two doses,” said Chair of the National Health Strategic Group on COVID-19 and Head of Infectious Diseases at Hamad Medical Corporation, Dr. Abdullatif Al Khal.

الدوحة: أكدت صحيفة /البننسولا/ الناطقة باللغة الإنجليزية في افتتاحيتها لعدد يوم أمس، أن قطر تمكنت من مواجهة وباء كورونا بشكل جيد للغاية في العامين الماضيين.

وأرجعت الصحيفة هذا النجاح، إلى الموقف المسؤول لأفراد المجتمع الذين شاركوا في حملة التطعيم دون أي مماطلة.. وقالت بهذا الخصوص: “واليوم، سيتعين على جميع أعضاء المجتمع إظهار نفس المستوى من النضج في الاقبال على الحصول على الجرعات المعززة”، مشددة على أن الجرعات المعززة من لقاح فيروس كورونا ضرورية وهي آمنة وفعالة. كما أنها تعتبر الخيار الوحيد المتاح لمواجهة التهديد المتزايد للمتحور الجديد من الفيروس.

ولفتت إلى أن متحور /أوميكرون/ أصبح الآن سلالة منتشرة بسرعة في أجزاء كثيرة من العالم وأن السلاح الوحيد لهزيمة هذا الفيروس المتحور هو العمل على ضمان التطعيم للجميع، خاصة الذين لا يزالون غير محصنين ضد فيروس كورونا، وإعطاء جرعات معززة للأشخاص الذين تناولوا الجرعة الثانية من اللقاح منذ ستة أشهر أو أكثر، منوهة إلى أن وزارة الصحة العامة حثت الناس مرارا وتكرارا على أخذ لقاحات أو جرعات معززة، كما نصحت المجتمع بالالتزام الصارم بالإجراءات الوقائية. حيث طمأنت الوزارة أفراد المجتمع بأن الجرعة المعززة آمنة وفعالة، ومن المهم جدا أن يتمتع الجميع بمستويات عالية من الحماية ضد الفيروس.

وأفادت /البننسولا/ بأن الجرعات المعززة متوفرة في جميع المراكز الصحية التابعة لمؤسسة الرعاية الصحية الأولية، مبينة أن المؤسسة تتصل مباشرة بالأشخاص المؤهلين للحصول على جرعة اللقاح المعزز لتحديد موعد.

ونقلت الصحيفة تصريح الدكتور عبداللطيف الخال رئيس المجموعة الاستراتيجية الوطنية للتصدي لفيروس كورونا ورئيس قسم الأمراض المعدية بمؤسسة حمد الطبية الذي قال فيه إنه: “منذ 23 ديسمبر 2020، أجرى البرنامج الوطني للتطعيم ضد فيروس كورونا أكثر من خمسة ملايين جرعة من اللقاحات و86 من إجمالي السكان تم تلقيحهم بالكامل بجرعتين.”
