Agreement to Establish EU Mission in Qatar Signed

Brussels: The Government of the State of Qatar, the European Union and the European Atomic Energy Community signed in Brussels an agreement regarding the establishment of the European Union Mission in the State of Qatar, its privileges and immunities.
The agreement was signed for the Qatari side by HE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi, and for the European side by HE Secretary-General of the European Union External Action Service Stefano Sannino.
HE Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the European Union and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), Abdulaziz bin Ahmed Al Malki, attended the signing ceremonies.
The agreement, according to which a mission of the European Union will be established in the State of Qatar, follows the decision of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani to establish a mission for the European Union to the State of Qatar, aiming to strengthen the Qatari-European relations and open new horizons for cooperation between the two sides.
The agreement is the culmination of many years of intensive and joint work in various fields, a translation of the progress made on the ground and the upgrading of diplomatic relations between the two sides, and a testimony to the great interest that the European Union attaches to the State of Qatar in light of the new common challenges and goals.

بروكسل: وقعت حكومة دولة قطر والاتحاد الأوروبي والمجموعة الأوروبية للطاقة الذرية، في بروكسل، اتفاقية بشأن تأسيس بعثة الاتحاد الأوروبي في دولة قطر وامتيازاتها وحصاناتها.
وقع عن الجانب القطري سعادة السيد سلطان بن سعد المريخي وزير الدولة للشؤون الخارجية، فيما وقع من الجانب الأوروبي، سعادة السيد ستيفانو سانينو، الأمين العام لهيئة العمل الخارجي للاتحاد الأوروبي.
حضر مراسم التوقيع سعادة السيد عبدالعزيز بن أحمد المالكي سفير دولة قطر لدى الاتحاد الأوروبي وحلف شمال الأطلسي.
وتأتي هذه الاتفاقية التي سيتم بموجبها إنشاء بعثة للاتحاد الأوروبي في دولة قطر، بعد قرار حضرة صاحب السمو الشيخ تميم بن حمد آل ثاني أمير البلاد المفدى “حفظه الله” بإنشاء بعثة لدولة قطر للاتحاد الأوروبي لتعزيز العلاقات القطرية الأوروبية والمضي بها قدما لتفتح الطريق أمام مرحلة جديدة من التعاون بين الجانبين.
وتعتبر هذه الاتفاقية تتويجا لسنوات طويلة من العمل المكثف والمشترك في مختلف المجالات، وترجمة للتقدم المحرز على أرض الواقع وارتقاء بالعلاقات الدبلوماسية بين الطرفين، وتمثل شهادة على الاهتمام الكبير الذي يوليه الاتحاد الأوروبي لدولة قطر في ظل التحديات والأهداف المشتركة الجديدة.
