Awareness drive for turtle protection

The Environmental Protection, Natural Reserves and Wildlife Department at the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) conducted on Thursday an awareness event as part of the project to protect endangered turtles.
A considerable number of people took part in the event at Fuwairit beach, held during the turtle nesting season, and brochures were distributed among them.
The participants were briefed on the various stages of the project.
In addition, field visits were conducted to follow the process of releasing the newly hatched turtles into the sea.

نظمت وزارة البلدية والبيئة، ممثلة بإدارة الحماية والحياة الفطرية، مؤخراً، فعالية توعوية مصاحبة لموسم فقس السلاحف، وتأتي هذه الفعالية في إطار الفعاليات التوعوية المصاحبة لمشروع السلاحف البحرية المهددة بالانقراض. وقد نظمت الفعالية بحضور عدد من الجمهور من القطريين والمقيمين، ووزع عدد من المنشورات التوعوية، وألقيت كلمة لشرح مراحل المشروع، خاصة ما يتعلق بمرحلة الفقس. كما تم تنظيم زيارات ميدانية لأماكن الأعشاش، وحضور عمليات إطلاق صغار السلاحف للبحر.;
