Eid Al Fitr Preparations All Set

Doha: The General Directorate of Traffic has its preparations for controlling and securing traffic during Eid Al Fitr all set, adopting a comprehensive plan which sets to intensify patrols and traffic police officers all over the country. The Directorate called on the public: citizens, residents, and visitors alike to use public transportation in order to reduce traffic congestion and reach their destinations with ease.

The Assistant Director of the Media and Traffic Awareness Department at the General Directorate of Traffic Lieutenant Colonel Jaber Mohamed Odaiba said in an exclusive statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA) that the Directorate has prepared a comprehensive plan for traffic control during the blessed days of Eid Al Fitr, a rush period annually.

He added that the traffic plan sets to intensify police patrols and traffic police officers around mosques and Eid prayer areas, as well as residential areas, in addition to areas surrounding malls, commercial streets, markets, parks and tourist attractions round the clock.

Lieutenant Colonel Jaber Odaiba explained that the plan takes into account the movement of vehicles around malls, and commercial and residential areas on the eve of Eid. As for the morning of the first day of Eid, focus will be concentrated on mosques and Eid prayer areas. In addition, the plan will address tourist attractions and parks in the evening and night periods given the heavy traffic that occurs in given locations and at specific times, such as the Corniche, the Pearl, Lusail and Katara. Additionally, traffic police patrols will control traffic on highways throughout the day.

He urged drivers and road users to abide by traffic rules and safe driving etiquette to ensure safety to lives and property, with everyone reaching their destinations safely and in a timely manner.

The Assistant Director of the Media and Traffic Awareness Department also called on the public to use public transport to move easily, especially given the remarkable development of the public transportation network whose great efficiency was proven during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

Lieutenant Colonel Jaber Odaiba elaborated that Qatar has an advanced public transportation network, which includes the metro network, providing safe, smooth, and distinct transportation services, connecting the most vital and touristic areas in the country, such as Corniche, Katara, the Pearl, and Lusail, supported by a fleet of metrolink buses to move from and to metro stations, in addition to park and go parking lots around metro stations.

In the context of his statement to QNA, he referred to the traffic awareness plan implemented by the Department during the holy month of Ramadan and said that it came within the comprehensive annual awareness plan for 2023, aiming to introduce all road users to the economic, social, and health risks of traffic accidents, and in its effort to maintain and increase road traffic safety, reducing the rates of traffic accidents, severe injuries, and death.

Lieutenant Colonel Jaber Odaiba also pointed out that the annual plan seeks to change the traffic behavior of all society members to ensure their safety and protection from the dangers of traffic accidents, expanding traffic behavior awareness to all segments of society and providing them with sound road usage practices and information.

The Media and Traffic Awareness Departments annual traffic plan includes workshops and training targeting traffic department personnel covering various administrative, organizational, and media-related aspects, in addition to strategic planning and traffic management, not to mention that it offers lectures, programs, and awareness campaigns to various institutions, entities, schools, driving schools, limousine companies and others.

الدوحة: أكملت الإدارة العامة للمرور استعداداتها لضبط وتأمين الحركة المرورية خلال عيد الفطر المبارك، وفق خطة شاملة تقوم على تكثيف الدوريات ورجال المرور في جميع المناطق، كما دعت الإدارة الجمهور من مواطنين ومقيمين وزوار إلى استخدام وسائل النقل العام للحد من الازدحام والوصول إلى الوجهات المختلفة بيسر وسهولة.

وقال العقيد جابر محمد عضيبة مساعد مدير إدارة التوعية المرورية بالإدارة العامة للمرور في تصريح خاص لوكالة الأنباء القطرية /قنا/، إن الإدارة أعدت خطة متكاملة لإدارة الحركة المرورية خلال أيام عيد الفطر المبارك يبدأ تنفيذها من ليلة العيد لضمان انسياب حركة السير والحد من المخالفات والحوادث خلال هذه الفترة التي تشهد حركة مرورية كبيرة للمركبات ومستخدمي الطريق بشكل عام.

وأضاف أن الخطة المرورية تقوم على تكثيف الدوريات ورجال المرور حول المساجد ومصليات العيد، وداخل المناطق السكنية، فضلا عن المناطق المحيطة بالمجمعات والشوارع التجارية والأسواق والمتنزهات والمناطق السياحية المختلفة وذلك على مدار الساعة.

وأوضح العقيد جابر عضيبة أن الخطة المرورية تضع في الاعتبار حركة المركبات ليلة العيد خاصة في المجمعات والأسواق التجارية والمناطق السكنية، وفي الفترة الصباحية في أول أيام العيد حول المساجد والمصليات، ثم الفترة المسائية في المتنزهات والأماكن السياحية التي تشهد حركة نشطة، مثل الكورنيش واللؤلؤة ولوسيل وكتارا وغيرها، بالإضافة إلى تغطية الخطوط الخارجية والطرق السريعة بالدوريات على مدار اليوم.

وحث العقيد جابر عضيبة قائدي المركبات ومستخدمي الطريق على الالتزام بقواعد المرور وآداب القيادة الآمنة بما يضمن الحفاظ على الأروح والممتلكات، وليصل الجميع إلى وجهاتهم بسلام وفي الوقت المناسب.

كما أهاب مساعد مدير إدارة التوعية المرورية بالجمهور، استخدام وسائل النقل العام للتنقل بكل يسر وسهولة خاصة وأن شبكة النقل العام شهدت تطورا لافتا وأثبتت كفاءتها الكبيرة خلال كأس العالم FIFA قطر 2022.

وقال ” لدينا اليوم شبكة متطورة للنقل العام، وأصبحت شبكة المترو توفر خدمات نقل آمنة وسلسة ومتميزة تربط أهم المناطق الحيوية والسياحية في الدولة مثل الكورنيش وكتارا واللؤلؤة ولوسيل، وغيرها من المناطق، مع أسطول حافلات للتنقل من المحطات وإليها، وتوفير مواقف “اركن وتنقل” حول المحطات”.

وأشار في سياق تصريحه لـ/قنا/ إلى خطة التوعية المرورية التي نفذتها الإدارة خلال شهر رمضان المبارك، وقال إنها جاءت ضمن الخطة التوعوية السنوية الشاملة الخاصة بالإدارة للعام 2023 والتي تهدف إلى تعريف كافة مستخدمي الطريق بالمخاطر الاقتصادية والاجتماعية والصحية الناتجة عن الحوادث، وتحقيق الأمن والسلامة على الطرق وتخفيض معدلات الحوادث والوفيات والإصابات البليغة.

كما أشار إلى أن الخطة السنوية تسعى إلى العمل على تغيير السلوك المروري لدى كافة أفراد المجتمع بما يضمن سلامتهم ووقايتهم من مخاطر الحوادث المرورية، ورفع معدلات الوعي المروري بين فئات المجتمع وتزويدهم بالمعلومات المرورية الصحيحة لتحقيق السلامة على الطريق.

وتشمل الخطة المرورية السنوية لإدارة التوعية المرورية دورات وورشا تدريبية لعناصر المرور تغطي مختلف الجوانب الإدارية والتنظيمية والإعلامية والتخطيط الاستراتيجي وإدارة الحركة المرورية ونحوها، إلى جانب المحاضرات والبرامج والحملات التوعوية التي تستهدف مختلف المؤسسات والجهات والمدارس ومعاهد تعليم السواقة وشركات الليموزين وغيرها من الجهات.
