Oman suspends student attendance

Doha: The High Commission, which is charged with dealing with the mechanism of dealing with developments resulting from the spread of the Coronavirus (Covid-19) in Oman, decided Wednesday to suspend the direct attendance of students in private and international schools and limit their education to distance learning, with the exception of 12th graders, similar to public schools.
According to the Omani News Agency, this decision is in effect from Sunday, April 4th until further notice, and comes after the committee reviewed the epidemiological investigation reports in schools, which showed an increase in the number of cases recorded among administrative and educational staff and students in private and international schools as a result of the social spread and the non-compliance of some schools with preventive health measures and their underestimation of their importance, including disclosure of symptoms and contact with positive cases in the community and schools.
In the context of the serious rise in coronavirus infections in various provinces of Oman during this period and in order to avoid further spread of the virus in the community, the High Committee decided to suspend official and local sports activities from Thursday until further notice.
The High Committee also decided to reduce the number of employees who are required to come to the premises in the units of the State Administrative authorities and other public legal persons to 50% of the total number of employees, with employees who do not attend the premises perform the work assigned to them remotely, and this decision is valid from Sunday until further notice.
الدوحة: قررت اللجنة العليا المكلّفة ببحث آلية التعامل مع التطورات الناتجة عن انتشار فيروس كورونا (كوفيد19) في سلطنة عمان، الأربعاء، تعليق الحضور المباشر للطلبة في المدارس الخاصة والدوليّة واقتصار تلقّي التعليم فيها على طريقة التعلّم عن بُعد، باستثناء طلبة الصف الثاني عشر أسوة بالمدارس الحكومية.
ووفق وكالة الأنباء العمانية، يسري العمل بهذا القرار ابتداءً من يوم الأحد 4 أبريل حتى إشعارٍ آخر، ويأتي القرار بعدما اطلعت اللجنة على تقارير التقصي الوبائي في المدارس، والتي أظهرت زيادةً في عدد الحالات المسجلة بين الكادر الإداري والتعليمي والطلبة في المدارس الخاصّة والدوليّة نتيجة الانتشار المجتمعي وعدم التزام بعض المدارس بالإجراءات الصحية الوقائية والتقليل من أهميتها، والتي من ضمنها الإفصاح عن الأعراض ومخالطة حالات إيجابية في المجتمع والمدارس.
وأضافت الوكالة أنه في إطار الارتفاع الخطير في الإصابات بفيروس كورونا (كوفيد19) في مختلف محافظات السلطنة في هذه الفترة وتجنبًا لمزيد من الانتشار لهذا الفيروس في أوساط المجتمع فقد قررت اللجنة العليا تعليق الأنشطة الرياضية الرسمية والأهلية ابتداءً من يوم غدٍ الخميس حتى إشعارٍ آخر.
كما قررت اللجنة العليا أيضًا تقليص عدد الموظفين الذين يُطلب منهم الحضور إلى مقرات العمل في وحدات الجهاز الإداري للدولة وغيرها من الأشخاص الاعتبارية العامة إلى نسبة 50% من إجمالي عدد الموظفين، على أن يؤدي الموظفون الذين لا يحضرون إلى مقرات العمل الأعمال الموكلة إليهم بنظام العمل عن بُعد، ويسري العمل بهذا القرار ابتداءً من يوم الأحد حتى إشعارٍ آخر.
