HH Sheikha Moza Attends WISE Prize 2021

Doha: HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, Chairperson of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development attended on Wednesday the WISE Prize which was held within the activities of the 10th edition of the World Innovation Summit for Education WISE 2021.

HE Sheikha Hind bint Hamad Al-Thani, Vice Chairperson and CEO of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development, and a number of officials, experts and specialists from various countries participating in the conference.

In the final stages, 12 projects from 9 countries competed for prizes, including 6 winning projects, all of which were evaluated according to strict criteria that include factors of innovation, scalability and sustainability and its impact on individuals, groups and societies in their local environments or at the global level, as well as the distinction of financial stability and adopt a clear development plan and be capable of development and replication, and all seek to address the most pressing global challenges in the field of education.

Each of the winning projects will receive a financial prize of $20,000 and will receive wide media coverage and opportunities to communicate and cooperate with many parties.

Director of Programs and Chief Curator at WISE Dr. Ameena Abdul Majeed, handed over the prizes to the winning projects this year, which are the “Happiness Curriculum” issued by the Government of Delhi. The curriculum organizers have entered into a partnership in the school curricula dedicated to well-being, happiness, self-awareness, critical thinking and other social and emotional skills. This work had a positive impact on 800,000 students in 1,024 schools, increasing their levels of participation and focus in the classroom.

The second project is “onebillion” which developed an integrated technology platform for education in the form of a tablet and an application for all children with the aim of enhancing numeracy, reading and writing skills in the languages they speak regardless of their environment. The application provides children with learning sessions that suit their needs.

The third project named “Trauma Informed Schools” focuses on education through trauma awareness in the schools of the Republic of Turkey. The idea is to transform the classroom into a safe space for children suffering from traumatic psychological experiences, through a multi-pronged approach targeting children and the community around them, by providing training courses and workshops with the teaching staff and caregivers.

The number of beneficiaries reached 5,216 children, 406 teachers and 190 caregivers.

As for the fourth project “Lets All Learn to Read”, it developed a comprehensive and innovative model for learning to read and write for primary school students. The project also provided teachers with reading materials, necessary training and a grading system to help all students, with or without learning difficulties, to reach normal reading levels. The project benefited 703,277 children and teachers in public schools in Colombia and Panama, in addition the governments of the two countries have adopted the program as part of their general policies.

The fifth winning project is “Taleemabad” which means Education City in Urdu. It was chosen thanks to its integration of Pakistani classrooms using digital technologies that provide educational content that is highly adapted to the local context and the prevailing Pakistani culture with Pakistan’s national curriculum and children learning English and Urdu, in addition to mathematics and science in various grades of primary schools.

The last winning project is the “ProFuturo Digital Education Program, made by the Telefonica Foundation and the La Caixa Foundation. It is designed to operate in weak environments, whether or not it has access to the Internet. The program focuses on training and supporting teachers in enhancing their educational practices and digital skills so that they can provide the best educational level for their students. The program is spread across 40 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean, Africa and Asia, and the number of beneficiaries has exceeded 914,000 teachers and 19.7 million children.

During another session within the activities of the summit, Engineer Tanmay Bakshi, 18, an expert in machine learning and artificial intelligence programming at Google and a consulting software engineer at IBM, spoke on the use of technology to facilitate people’s lives and help technology professionals. He also talked about his journey in learning technology since his childhood and the projects he undertook to develop society and education methods, affirming the need to launch initiatives to develop solutions to current and future problems, link technology and education in different and more effective ways and qualifying teachers to be proficient in dealing with modern devices while preparing students for an “unknown” future by providing them with experience of dealing with events that we do not yet know what they are.

الدوحة: شهدت صاحبة السمو الشيخة موزا بنت ناصر رئيس مجلس إدارة مؤسسة قطر للتربية والعلوم وتنمية المجتمع، حفل توزيع /جوائز وايز/ الذي أقيم ضمن فعاليات النسخة العاشرة لمؤتمر القمة العالمي للابتكار في التعليم /وايز 2021/.

كما شهد الحفل سعادة الشيخة هند بنت حمد آل ثاني نائب رئيس مجلس إدارة مؤسسة قطر للتربية والعلوم وتنمية المجتمع والرئيس التنفيذي للمؤسسة وعدد من المسؤولين والخبراء والمتخصصين من مختلف دول العالم المشاركين في المؤتمر.

وقد تنافس على الجوائز في المراحل النهائية 12 مشروعا من 9 دول فازت منها 6 مشروعات خضعت جميعها للتقييم وفق معايير صارمة تشمل عوامل الابتكار وقابلية التطوير والاستدامة وأثرها على الأفراد والجماعات والمجتمعات في بيئاتها المحلية أو على المستوى العالمي، كذلك التميز بالاستقرار من الناحية المالية وأن تعتمد خطة تطوير واضحة وأن تكون قابلة للتطوير والتكرار وأن تسعى جميعها إلى معالجة التحديات العالمية الأكثر إلحاحا في مجال التعليم.

وسوف يحصل كل مشروع من المشروعات الفائزة على جائزة مالية قدرها 20 ألف دولار أمريكي، كما سيحظى بتغطية إعلامية واسعة وفرص للتواصل والتعاون مع جهات عديدة.

وقامت الدكتورة أمينة عبدالمجيد مديرة البرامج والمحتوى في /وايز/ بتسليم الجوائز للمشروعات الفائزة هذا العام وهي /منهاج السعادة الصادر عن حكومة دلهي/، حيث أبرم القائمون على المنهاج شراكة في المناهج المدرسية تكون مخصصة للرفاه والسعادة والوعي الذاتي والتفكير الناقد وغيرها من المهارات الاجتماعية والوجدانية، وترك هذا العمل أثرا إيجابيا على 800 ألف طالب في 1024 مدرسة، فارتفعت لديهم مستويات المشاركة والتركيز في الفصول الدراسية.

أما المشروع الثاني فهو /مليار واحد/ الذي طور منصة تكنولوجية متكاملة للتعليم /على شكل جهاز لوحي وتطبيق/ لجميع الأطفال بهدف تعزيز مهارات الحساب والقراءة والكتابة باللغات التي يتكلمونها بصرف النظر عن البيئة التي تحتضنهم، ويتيح التطبيق للأطفال جلسات تعلم تناسب احتياجاتهم.

ويركز المشروع الثالث، واسمه /مدارس الوعي بالصدمات النفسية/ على التعليم من خلال الوعي بالصدمات النفسية في مدارس الجمهورية التركية، وتقوم الفكرة على تحويل الفصل الدراسي إلى مساحة آمنة للأطفال الذين يعانون من التجارب النفسية الصادمة، من خلال نهجٍ متعدد الجوانب يستهدف الأطفال والمجتمع المحيط بهم، وذلك بتوفير دورات تدريبية وورش عمل مع الكادر التدريسي ومقدمي الرعاية، ووصل عدد المستفيدين منه إلى 5216 طفلا و406 معلمين و190 مقدم رعاية.

أما المشروع الرابع /دعونا جميعا نتعلم القراءة/، والذي طور نموذجا شاملا ومبتكرا لتعلّم القراءة والكتابة لفائدة طلاب المدارس الابتدائية، كما وفر المشروع للمعلمين مواد القراءة والتدريب اللازم ونظاما للدرجات بهدف مساعدة كافة الطلاب /الذين يعانون أو لا يعانون من صعوبات في التعلم/ في بلوغ مستويات القراءة العادية، واستفاد من المشروع 703 آلاف و277 طفلا ومعلما في المدارس الحكومية في كولومبيا وبنما، فضلا عن قيام حكومتي البلدين باعتماد البرنامج ضمن سياساتهما العامة.

والمشروع الفائز الخامس هو /تعليم آباد/ وتعني /مدينة التعليم/ باللغة الأردية، وقد اختير بفضل دمجه للفصول الدراسية الباكستانية باستخدام تقنيات رقميّة توفّر محتوى تعليميا يتواءم مع السياق المحلي والثقافة الباكستانية السائدة إلى حد كبير، ومع المناهج التعليمية الوطنية في باكستان وتعلّم الأطفال اللغتين الإنجليزية والأردية، بالإضافة إلى الرياضيات والعلوم في مختلف صفوف المدارس الابتدائية.

أما آخر المشروعات الفائزة فهو برنامج /برو فيوتشرو للتعليم الرقمي/ من صنع /مؤسسة تيليفونيكا ومؤسسة لا كايشا/، وهو مصمَّم للعمل في البيئات الضعيفة، سواء كانت تتوفر على إمكانية الاتصال بشبكة الإنترنت أم لا، ويركز البرنامج على تدريب ودعم المعلمين، في تعزيز ممارساتهم التعليمية ومهاراتهم الرقمية بحيث يمكنهم من تقديم أفضل مستوى تعليمي لطلابهم، وينتشر البرنامج في 40 بلدا من أمريكا اللاتينية ومنطقة البحر الكاريبي وقارتي إفريقيا وآسيا، علما أن عدد المستفيدين منه تجاوز 914 ألف معلم و19.7 مليون طفل.

وخلال جلسة أخرى ضمن فعاليات المؤتمر تحدث المهندس تانماي باكشي الذي يبلغ من العمر 18 عامًا وهو خبير في برمجة التعلم الآلي والذكاء الاصطناعي في جوجل ومهندس برمجيات استشاري في شركة آي بي إم، عن استخدام التكنولوجيا في تسهيل حياة الناس ومساعدة المتخصصين في مجال التكنولوجيا، كما تحدث عن رحلته في تعلم التكنولوجيا منذ طفولته والمشاريع التي قام بها لتطوير المجتمع وأساليب التعليم، مؤكدا على ضرورة إطلاق المبادرات لوضع الحلول للمشاكل الآنية والمستقبلية والربط بين التكنولوجيا والتعليم بطرق مختلفة وأكثر فعالية، وتأهيل المدرسين ليجيدوا التعامل مع الأجهزة الحديثة مع تحضير الطلبة لمستقبل “غير معروف” بإكسابهم خبرات التعامل مع الأحداث التي لم نعرف ماهيتها بعد.
